This drama charts the life of Kim Soo Ro, legendary founder of Geumgwan Gaya, the ruling city-state of the Gaya confederacy, which dominated sea trade and iron working during the Three Kingdoms Period. Kim Soo Ro's fiery temperament, charisma and intelligence are his only defense in the extended political struggle, with competition for the throne from his half-brother and lifelong rival, Ijinashi, his former friend Suk Tal Hae, and the dangerous ambitions of Shin Kwi Gan.

I liked this drama. I did not like the love traingle, one of the female leads annoyed me,- that other girl was really needless. Could have been netter without it. I liked the ending. But I liked most of the characters in this drama and Ji Sung proved me wrong- he actually can act. pretty good overall. I was afraid to watch it because I didn;t believe Ji Sung can pull off a historical role, but this one actully was very fitting for him. He was quite charming. The story is overall quite "soft", there were some moments I really liked.

      --spoiler regarding the romance--

Since you liked the ending i believe that the one girl you didn't like was the first girlfriend?
If yes: I TOTALLY AGREE. She was so annoying. And it somehow(negatively) affected the relationship with the other girl. Since he only acted like he was in love with the first girl. But it was good that he was much more mature when he married (those little love-scenes were quite cute ^^)

Yes, you;re correct. She was selfish and annoying incomparison to the Indian princess. That's what I felt too- he was swinging between the two of them way too much. At the end it may have felt unreal. But you're also right- it was something he may have needed to mature.

I'm addicted... This drama is seriously amazing O.O It's different than the other historical dramas. I've only watched until ep 13 now but i think i'll finish this soon.

      Well i'm finished now.

      What to say...
I think i liked the first and the last third the most. The middle of the drama dragged a bit (the inner disputes really took long)But at the end there was quite a lot that saved the drama.

      About the characters:
I liked them - but i have to criticize them about one thing. The way they developed. the protagonists seemed to change too fast. One day i really liked the characters the next they were really unlikeable - this made it really difficult for me to develop some feelings for them - since i never knew how they would act next. This could also count as positive since the characters are totally unpredictable in their actions. But really it's difficult to like one character throughout the drama.

I'm not sure why I lost interested after 3rd episode for a while, but I'm glad I picked it up again. The drama is really good.

So don't give up if you're thinking about dropping it yet.

This drama has actually surprised me. It's good story with characters who actually work well together. Can Fate be any more cruel? I was convcned I wouldn't like Ji Sung, he proved me wrong, he presents his character well. He's a very warm person.

I admire Tal Hae so much and I'm really happy and pleased with his end. He endured a lot in his life but that didn't stop him from trying to achieve his ambitions and goals! He's my favorite character.
    • Dark_Howler Jan 14, 2013
He seemed very shrewd to me. Especially how he went back and forth with his word. But I guess that's what ambition does to you.
