A mother moves with her older daughter and younger daughter to a large home in the country side. The older daughter suffers from a lung ailment and her doctor advised the family to move out into the country side. The home is provided by Ji Tae, the son of a business partner who worked with their deceased father. While the family gets acclimated to their new surroundings, the older daughter makes a remarkable discovery. Within a locked room in the barn lives a wild boy. The family takes him in believing he is just an orphan with little social skills. The boy with little social skills begins to take an interest in the oldest daughter.

Watched this movie for both Park Bo Young (loved her in Speedy Scandal) and of course, the ethereal Song Joongki. I had high expectations and I wasn't disappointed in any way.

Although this movie was done in flashback, it was easy to follow and did not leave me confused (like certain flashback movies). The story line was great albeit a little too simple, with its fair share of hilarious antics and sad moments that had me crying like a baby. Nevertheless, the story was more than well-supported by an amazing cast. Bo Young was fantastic as Suni. She acted really well and her crying scenes made me cry MORE than her!

The star of the show has got to be Joong Ki, definitely. As much as

I seldom step into the theatre for movies as I could hardly sit still and concentrate for more than 1 hour. I usually watch movies at home. However, because of the fantastic reviews and box office this show has gotten from Korea, I decided that I would give this movie a chance at the theatre though it was a 2h 5min show.
The show started relatively slowly. For those who are not used to Korean shows, you may find it draggy. However, please keep your mind open. The setting and character building beginning would come useful in the plot in the middle.
I must say that what leaves a permanent impression was the acting of the cast. If I can give 20/10, I would have done

  • They are both amazing, yet in a way tragic, movies. Both of them deal with supernatural creatures (vampires and werewolves) but they both do so in a way where the supernatural part does not take away from the actual storyline whatsoever. Both of them talk about the sadness associated with being inhuman, and friendship/love that transcends generations (both of them have seemingly immortal characters). Lastly, both the endings leave you with a hole in your heart. That scary emptiness. You know what I mean. There are a lot more similarities, but I won't delve too far into detail. If you're curious, go see for yourself ^^

  • 'Dog' turned human romance story. Chul Soo (Song Joong Ki)'s character is like a wolf that suddenly gained a human body [yes he is a werewolf but this is how his character acts] where Shiro (Toyokawa Etsushi) is shown to be a guide dog given a human body to find the girl that raised him as a puppy. If you liked one you'll probably like the other.

This movie was sort of like a fusion between Edward Scissorhands and the Beast Master manga. I wonder if the screenwriter of this movie borrowed a few ideas from them? Anyway, I loved loved loved Song Joong Ki here. He was able to express so much emotion only with his eyes and his character's fate broke my heart (but I did not like Soon Yi a lot for what she did). The film was beautifully done but really sad. It's the type of film I will not watch for the second time.

OMG! yes I thought no one else noticed that, but I preferred Edward Scissorhands a little more because the ending didn't cause me as much pain.

I need superglue to stick my heart back together after watching this. I normally avoid films I know will have a sad ending, and that will have me crying my eyes out - but the reviews made me watch this and it was worth it, blubbering mess and all. And I'd do it all over again and others should too. I need the dvd and a hug it doesn't matter what order. Omg feels overload. Now I off for a cup of tea, chocolate and a good comedy.

Despite the very sad story, this is the cutest movie I have ever watched.

I ended watching it like 5 minutes ago and I'm still crying. When I get hold of myself and stop I think about it again and cry.
It was so beautiful, yet extremely sad. Cos no when you realize that no matter what she does he would always and up alone. Even if she came back not 47 years but 7 months still she would age and die, but he would stay young.
    It's beautiful and heartbreaking.
And the actors were amazing. Really I'm gonna be a huge fan of Joong Ki. He was amaaaazing.
Ahhh really I recommend this movie for everyone.

PS. I was holding quite well and didn't cry but then he asked to not go. I mean it was just... Am I right? ;p

I disliked one thing about this movie...the fact that the "evil guy' had no real depth. I feel like if they had expanded, and given him some character (which albeit is very hard to do with a 2 hour movie) then it could have been better. Other than that minor fact, I really enjoyed it.

Agreed, though the way the movie ended was weird to me. So that was another thing I disliked. It wasn't that they weren't together, but it was just so weird.

It would have been less painful to just take my heart out and smash it with a hammer. I knew how it would end and I still cried. It was beautiful but I will NEVER watch this again.

This is probably the sweetest, saddest Korean movie I have seen. But the fact that she left him for 45 years and after she finally returns, she leaves again?? Oh how my heart broke when I saw him just standing there, alone, watching her car leave. Did she know he was really there or did she think it was a dream or something? I sort of wish they added more to his story and to the story as a whole just to give us a little more insight. Also the fact that he didn't change AT ALL made me even more sad because she got old and he stayed young just killed me because even if she did stay, he would have ended up alone anyway. This is movie just broke my heart. I just wanted them to be together but they didn't and I just want to hold Cheul-su and pat his head. This is definitely re-watchable though. I'll probably cry even harder the second time.

I finished 5 minutes of watching the movie and I still can not stop crying! OMG
of Korean films this was the first experience where the plot is a "simple" thing more captivating at the same time point or see the time passing by making us like the Cheoul Soo.
Just say that I was frustrated with him not asking her to stay even though old woman as he will only love a woman forever crying again ~ ~
what was that end where it mounts the snowman? omg think the apex of crying
    I will recommend to all friends \ \ \ o / / /

Honestly for the first time I've enjoyed a korean movie... this movie was AMAZING so touching !!! Song joong ki did a GREAT job! I hated 'penny pincher' because it didnt show his real capacity but here his acting was wonderful
And yes I cried at the end it wasn't fair that he spends his life alone, how could she leave him like that :(
