Awesome plot and acting
This drama was so diverse in characters but they were interwoven in the plot flawlessly. Their attraction was unique in a sense that they were both broken people (which they did not over-mask unlike other dramas). The acting was superb, you can see their angst in their crying, you can see when they are mad but trying to hide and put a smile on their face, you can see the deep pain, the frustration, etc... It is a sweet, honest love story that also reflected that time in history.... It provided just enough suspense and hope (in the ending) but it made sense. Was this review helpful to you?
I like how there was romance but it wasn't the main theme, and they acted their age - none of this bashful kissing like high schoolers.
The ending for me was little bit over-dramatic (I mean the wrapping up, unveiling - all happen in the villain's court). Almost too perfect... It was nice to wrap it up happily but it kind lack the depth to it... It turned into a light-hearted drama in the last few minutes of the last episode.

The secret to watching this drama is taking a break, don't let this consume your life, just for leisure. The ending could have been better and could have explained more of what happened. Yes, there are plot holes but it was watchable for me.

What made it harder to watch is the leading lady Kim Min Jung - there is just something about her that is annoying like Choi Kang Hee (that's why I could not finish the Queen of Mystery). This is just a matter of personal preference.

The first episode was impressive -- the director was able to cover a large time frame and maintain the continuity of the story. That episode set the stage for the drama. Now, mind you, they are actors and adults, the couples' age gap should not deter your judgement of watching a spectacular drama. The actors/actresses were all amazing, I mean you can just really feel the sadness, the distress, the sorrow and then the sweetness (that does not go overboard to childishness), the happiness, the camaraderie...
Add to this, this was a great comeback of Gong Yoo to drama land and when he had his sad moments in teh drama you just want to tell him to not be sad because his face just makes you "aawww, don't be sad...".
