I specifically made an account to give a must-needed review. As this is ongoing, I might bite my words later... But for now, 4 episodes in, I want to just say how much I love this drama. It's been a while since a Taiwanese show's got me this hooked(the last being Autumn's Concerto). What makes Love At Seventeen so special is the cuteness of its character interactions, portrayed with with strokes of truth. Granted, the plot feels like I've read about it somewhere, and the characters are nothing new either, but the story is heartwarming and touches but doesn't delve too deeply into social issues such as loyalty, friendship, hesitance, trust, and the difference between the past and the now. This makes the show a lighthearted but not completely weightless watch. Like I touched on briefly, the character interactions are gems. The two main actors have so much chemistry it's crazy, and both them and the side characters are flawed but extremely likeable. These people are another example of where originality is not a strength(for example, the 2nd female lead's got a proud streak, and the second male lead turns from a dork to full-on ABS) but the actors who portray them sell their roles and make characters who could be 2-D have layers. Seriously, the acting's great. Also, caps off to the music. To me, music is something that's absolutely, without exception, needed for a good drama, and I'm getting loads of it here. Love the nostalgic tunes. My only complaint is the amount of slow-mo romantic scenes that occur in episodes 1-3. I rolled my eyes way too many times at those. Episode 4 also slowed down a little. But overall, if you're looking for a VERY cute, nostalgic drama, this is a must watch. Seriously, I don't know why this isn't more popular.
