I have really conflicting feelings for Meuan Khon La Faak Fah. On one hand, I appreciated how it started, how the female lead is strong and cute, and how much chemistry our lead couple had. On the other hand, I thought the plot was weak, there wasn't enough emphasis on… more

After starting on Meuan Khon La Faak Fah, I decided to watch some of the leads' other works to pass time while waiting for future episodes. That was when I realised that Thai TV channels only started getting HD in 2015. Can you believe that? Most (all) Thai dramas before… more

To be honest, there were a lot of criticisms directed at the drama in Chinese media. For instance, Lu Chen Xi wearing high heels at work, Zhuang Shu using his hands to touch his scrub, etc. Personally, I'm not too bothered about all these details. Of course, I wouldn't… more

I'm relatively new to Thai dramas. The previous drama I completed was I Wanna Be Sup'tar, and after that I gave up on Thai dramas, until the adaptation of Princess Hours came and I decided to get myself accustomed to the Thai language while waiting for the episodes. I shall… more

Legend of the Condor Heroes is a personal favourite of mine out of all the Jin Yong wuxia books. The best thing about this particular adaptation is total loyalty towards the books [1]. This alone puts it miles ahead of the 2008 Hu Ge version, which imo was one of the worst… more

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the drama version of Eternal Love (or Three Lives, Three Worlds as some may prefer to call it) because of the casting. Mark Chao's initial stills were super disappointing. Honestly, even now I still don't think that he is a good… more

Thanx for accepting .... I loved your critical review of General and I .... as a fellow avid fan of Wallace Chung I had been hesitant to start General and I ... After reading your review I decided the Novel would be a much better source, considering how you describe the main characters, their love and how the drama changed both.
    I appreciate your insight! :)

I finished watching this drama quite a while ago but never thought of writing a review. HK dramas don't get much attention here anyway so I doubt many will see this. Also why this is an extremely short review by my standards. Pros: + Shi Ma and Yao Yao [1]. Shi Ma's character… more

General and I I had extremely high expectations for General and I. I'm a long-time fan of Wallace Chung; I've liked him since his role as Nalan Xingde in The Secret History of Kangxi. After I heard that he was going to take up the role of Chu Beijie in General and I, I… more

This review touched my heart. I also rated 6.5 just for my bias for Wallace :l I really don't think AB should have been the actress for this drama, it didn't even fit the novel description :(

I disagree that AB is the reason why the drama is so bad though. The bigger issue is the script and the special effects. Viewers like to see pretty faces on screen anyway. The novel did describe Bai Pingting as "plain-looking", but no production in their right mind will find a truly average-looking actor. The writer explicitly said in the novel that even though Bai Pingting is plain, she has a sort of attractiveness that made her more charming than a ravishing beauty. Riiiiiight. It works well in words, but good luck finding a person like that in real life. I'd admit that the casting is bad - someone like Janine Chang fits the vibe of BPT more - but it's not just AB who is a miscast but Wallace as well. He's twice the age he's supposed to be! Even in the drama he and AB are supposed to be of similar age. That's just too far-fetched. I really hope that Wallace can stop taking up such roles... If he's going to play someone much younger than his age, he should choose a better production too.

Sounds like a great novel. Thnks for the great review thatt made the novel sound quite amazing. I tend to prefer the dynamic in korean dramas and i dont like when in chinese dramas the dynamic you speak of is done in a way that makes males seem completely useless, i just don't like that..although of course i don't mind a smart, dignified, kind heroine....but Angela wasn't it for me...from what i glemed of it, it was quite...unfeeling overall. Polished but unfeeling, it seemed to lack heart and was very siff and artificial with emotion for me. overly pretty dramas put package above the contents ad heart, sadly and it is something i observed with other chinese dramas (remake of princess pearl is stupefying for instance). the producers of such remakes focus on packages...rather than on feelings, mood, delivery and keeping the spirit of character and stories....this sort of thing is relly jarring for me.

i do tend to like a lot of drmas for different reasons but there are thing si won;t be able to accept...and one is if a drama is done without feeling. i sense that because is usuall when i don connect with chaacters at all..for most dramas, even thse ha ma seem bad to others,i am able to connect with something. ..but not here...or in dramas like new huan zhu ge ge. which is now a nightmare to recollect...i used to try and want to postivie about that remake but urgh, no.

Anyway, great review, and thank you for describing the details of the book, it really made me want to read the book and forget about the drama. I'll check out Candle in the Tomb sometime.

Candle in the Tomb is the best out of the Winter batch of 2016/2017 Cdramas by a long mile, and that's largely because of the refreshing subject matter and its production quality. There are some green screens which were not processed properly in post-production, but in… more

I was just looking for something to watch and decided to try one of MBC's one-act specials. I chose this one because Seo Ji-hye is in it, and it's surprisingly good. Every character gets one (or more) section(s) throughout the one-act special to narrate their inner feelings,… more

The Good: I'm having trouble coming up with things for this one. I think very often it's easy to overlook a drama's strong points because its flaws are so obvious. It is especially so for Moon Lovers. And so I'll acknowledge that this review perhaps isn't really that great… more

I.U was not pathetic it was her character Hae Soo,huge difference-__- And I don't think she was pathetic at all.....Shit I don't even know how she lasted so long in Goryeo!!!! How would you feel if all of sudden out of no where you got this flashes,of a man you care deeply for,who turned dark and killed his brother's-.- Shit I would have probably ran far away from him xD......This is coming from a die hard SooSo fan.....I agree she did play her role extremely well, but she most certainly wasn't pathetic tho

I agree it started out great but then got annoying. I hated the noble idiot syndrome and time lapse . This would have been perfect if they had just 16 episodes instead of diluting the story.
I was actually surprised that IU played the role well, I think the real problem is that the writer didn't take her character to full potential since after all she was from the future.

I think somewhere along the line they decided to just stretch the show under the disguise that they are adding "twists"and making an "intricate" plot.
Don't get me wrong I did enjoy watching it and joon gi was amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised by IU. the problem was halfway in I lost interest, I wanted to see the princes and everyone but I just couldn't focus on the story. I watched a Chinese drama called princess wei young and I think what they did right was focus on the right scenes (like investigations and evidence)and not delve too much into side characters if you can't do it properly.

And I wanted to say Raincat and Anopinion that it was interesting reading your critiques.

The one thing people should know when watching Ms. Temper & Nam Jung-gi is that even though it labels itself as a romcom, romance really takes a backseat to everything else. There are two main underlying themes in this drama, the first being the superior-subordinate… more
