I've waited for a few weeks before deciding to do a review because I wanted to try to write a balanced review. I didn't know anything about Healer until episode 6 had already been aired and I was stuck with no other drama to watch. I've seen Ji Chang Wook in Warrior Baek Dong Soo and although I liked the drama, I didn't take a special notice of Ji Chang Wook. I decided give it a go and at first I thought it had a similar feel to City Hunter which I loved. First few episodes were interesting enough for me to continue but by the time I watched episode 6, I was totally hooked. I ended up marathoning all 6 episodes in one night and then joined the sad Healer fan club and live streamed the rest which I thoroughly enjoyed. Without a doubt, the thing that got me into this drama was the characters. The writer, Song Ji Na did a remarkable job of creating a bunch of very unique and interesting characters with depth. Luckily for us, the actors were perfectly casted for their roles and they brought the characters to life brilliantly. The interactions among all the actors felt very real and genuine due to a great script. The main characters are not your usual two dimensional Kdrama characters. They may each have a past which has effected who they are presently but the way they react or behave will pleasantly surprise you. This is a drama that managed to avoid most of the Kdrama cliches which was so refreshing to watch. I know many people have already gushed about the OTP. But I really got to say, this is the best OTP I have come across in any drama. The chemistry between Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young were undeniably off the chart GOOD. You know a drama is good when it grabs you and sucks you into their world and when you are watching it, you don't see the actors, you only see the characters they are portraying. Now the story, I was a little confused about what was going on for the first few episodes and the flash backs to the past didn't make much sense at first. But it was like pealing an onion, as the drama progressed the relevance of the flash backs became more obvious and meaningful.I have to admit that the story itself isn't that original as it is about a typical story of the wrongdoings of previous generation having ramifications for the next generation. I think the execution of the story could have been better if the momentum of the build up towards something big at the end was more focused. As for action scenes in Healer, some were good and some were not so good. The parkour was the most disappointing aspect, they shouldn't have used any wires for those scenes because the beauty of parkour is the fact that you are using agility and skills to move around. Too many of the action scenes were either too blurry or done in the dark. I know I am being critical here but it's because I really appreciate good action scenes. However, Ji Chang Wook looked very capable and cool as Healer in action. He certainly had the swagger and pulled off the nonchalant attitude of Healer perfectly every time. I am giving an overall score of 10/10. Why? Because watching this drama gave me more 'feels' than I've ever experienced with any other drama. Like I said before, it's all about the characters. I couldn't help investing in the characters because they were so relatable and likeable. This may not be a ground breaking drama but I sure enjoyed watching it, and it actually made me happy and that's why I would recommend this drama.
