Very powerful
Wow what a good movie. I wasnt expecting too much out of it but i really loved it. I'm ecstatic to see bi representation, even though he was claiming to be straight for 90% of the movie.The sex scenes were steamy and really well done. The two lead actors had major chemistry. The ambiguous ending wrecked me, i probably should read it to see if there's canonical closure.
It would be awesome to see more idols take on roles like this. It was a breath of fresh air to have a movie tackle issues like this, Okura's character was a huge jerk but he finally grew at the end, however not without the expense of others. Overall, its a favorite of mine now.

For me, personally, this movie (Korean version) is like a variation of Love Actually (2003, Hugh Grant), even it has extended version too. The best xmas movie up to this day.

The beautiful closure we all needed!!
Wow just WOW, I love the manga and the series wholeheartedly, I expected the best in this movie and I was just completely blown away!! This was just 100x better than what I expected!!First off, this review wouldn't be focusing on the story, this is mainly dedicated to the whole prod team who created such an amazing job of bringing Marikudo-sensei's work to life. I have to be honest I love the manga but Takezai, Izuka and Yoshida made the whole series unforgettable for me. It's rare for an adaptation to surpass the original, but the series did that and gave us more than we could ever ask for, so thank you so much for bringing the characters to life.
The movie gave us yet another spectacular performance between Takezai-san and Izuka-san (especially Izuka, the man probably gave the acting of his lifetime here, my heart breaks in every scene he's in, seriously this man is a gem, I'm just stunned by his range!!) All the passionate erotic scenes were amazing here, they completely outstand the erotic scenes from Mood Indigo (seriously I never thought the day would come that Kuzumi can beat Kido in terms of erotic scenes with Kijima but damn, I was stunned, speechless and blushing like a complete fool).
There were just some parts from the manga that would have been nice to see in the movie, like them having couple rings and finally living together (they celebrated Kijima's bday too!!) But all in all this was a beautiful adaptation of the most complicated yet interesting life story of Kijima. There's nothing that I could've asked for more, the series has become very dear to me that it's hard to accept that their story is finally over. It has been a wild ride, and my adoration for this series will never fade, they left such a huge impression on my mind that I will think of this for years to come.

"The Power Of Love Seems Limitless" - Guanyin Bodhisattva, in Madam White Snake (1960)
This is the best version of Lady White Snake I have seen yet!
Also, I have already read about the 1978 abduction of a South Korean actress and her husband director (screenwriter for this movie) Shin Sang-ok, by Kim Jong-il of North Korea but i didn't realize she was the main female lead in this movie until I did a search for her and her other movies!
The main and suport cast were great together; their timing was really good and the entire film flowed easily. Of the support cast, Guanyin Bodhisattva (Han Eun Jin) reminded me of some of my old Buddhist classes in college!
I learned that this character, although starting out male, is usually portrayed as female in China. However, this version portrays the deity as truly caring for others.
Korean horror has a long history; there is always an audience for it. many would consider this a horror film, but this isn't a horror film. It is a classical story about a demi-god and her mortal love.
You can actually see the flying wire for madam Whie Snake if you are very observant, but that is a minor detail for this time period of moviemaking; otherwise the cinematography is great! The music is also fitting for this movie.
I especially liked the portrayal of Madam White Snake in what most would call "Heaven" where Master Beop Hae (Ji Bang Yeol) and Guanyin Bodhisattva reside.
While searching for the female lead in other movies here, I realized that many of the support cast also appear in the same movies as her during her career.
I am looking forward to seeing the casts' other movies as well!
My only complaintabout this movie is the "self-righteous attitude of Madam White Snake's detractors. I know they had to take this stance in order to be the 'villians' but this is not something that should be tolerated in any religion in real life.
Surprisingly, I have already read the book on the kidnapping and enslavement of Choi Eun Hee (Madam White Snake) and her husband, Screenwriter Choi Kyung Ok before seeing this movie.

For me the dependency between Wen Heng (WH) & Yan Xi (YX) quite hard to grab. OK maybe they just find the right person at the right time. Like when WH just find new environment & family, where she still not belong, YX give her place of belong or their word 'home'. But being depressed & wait for him to come back all that years kinda BS. And after that the turn over kinda too fast too....
And also YX being depressed & got PTSD just because he see his mom suicide is also kinda BS. & the time he need to recover himself quite long.... I more buy the story in the drama summary, where YX got cancer & have to go to America. It's better I think
Yeah I know this is a movie & everything kinda happen so fast. Really hopping I can watch the drama version & finger cross the drama cast won't disappoint me.

what a mess
Another messy movie I've watched. Opposite with Terrica18, I quite agreed with the low rating here. Quite a headache watch this movie, sometimes so hard to differentiate the imagination or dream of Sha Sha (SS) with the reality and also the past and present all mixed together into one. It's like one scene is the present day, but the next scene suddenly the flashback of her training day, and we back to present day. See... Mixed together make me got headaches watching this movie.And the worst of all I think this movie take the stewardess job as something so easy to achieve. It's like we can see how messed up SS since the training day, but she still got the job. And the first day of her job, she can take care the business class...??? I don't think that supposed to be like that.
And to make it worse, yeah I don't think it can get worse too.... They make it like when you be stewardess you can get rich man to be your man. Like the 'friendship' SS has with Mr. Lin or her friend that got the fat man that follow her everywhere... See that easy to get your hands on rich man. So degraded the job of the stewardess.
Overall this just one messy movie to watch. Just pick another movie for you to watch.

A reason to fear death, a reason to live.
Before meeting each other, both leads have this thing in common: they couldn't dream about the future, getting ready to die was something they couldn't stop thinking about. Matsuri knew she wouldn't live more than 10 years, Kazu had 0 reasons to be alive.After getting closer, their lives changed, Kazu realized life could be beautiful, his life that until this time was monochrome , finally became colorful, falling in love changed his mindset, and even after getting rejected by the girl he loved so much he couldnt step back, now even if she couldnt accept his feelings, Kazu found another reason to live, he wanted to stay by Matsuri side and help her pass through those hard times, he thought someday she would be cured.
But for Matsuri, it was painful, when she first heard about her ilness she couldn't cry, seeing her family crying made her feel like she needed to be stronger than everyone, so with the thoughts of "there's nothing i can do about it" she denied her feels, denied her pain. But everything changed when she experienced the feeling of falling in love, spending her last
years with the one she loved made her finally realize how much she would be missing when her death time comes.

Not as Good as the Series
This is the rare case of when the series is better than the movie version.The Movie/Series: Both had a cute storyline and a good script. The acting was ok for the most part. There were times some of the actors seemed rigid and unsure about what was going on. I was not a fan of the ending and was hoping for something better.
The Movie: The main problem with the movie version is it suffers from very poor editing choices. They cut many scenes from the series that did not help with the story progression. They left out some key scenes which made various scenes seem disjointed. I was not a fan of the ending in the series version, but it was better than the edited version in the movie. I didn’t think I could hate the ending more, but the movie version proved me wrong.
Random Notes:
I recommend watching the series instead of the movie version.
It was cute to see the cross promotional material for Behind Cut which was made by the same production company.

A masterpiece
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish, the twists and turns weren't super next level but they kept you on your toes and always had you guessing. This movie is the epitomy of the phrase "it's a dog eat dog world" bleak, soul crushing, and lives a bitter taste in your mouth that leaves a pit in your stomach. Absolutely amazing, and the though the ending is depressing it is satisfying and truly leaves everyone getting their just desserts.Side note, and spoilers. I can not believe they'd kill off a certain character. Those characters always seem to get away with it. So stoked to see them get pumped full of lead lmao

Wow! For a 20 year old movie with an overused serial killer trope, this still has the power to shock. It’s not just a catch-the-killer thriller but a harsh comedic takedown of the police at that time. They must have loathed it when it first came out. It seems their investigative technique barely changed from the Joseon era. Besides being hopelessly inadequate to find the killer, they created a host of secondary victims.The plot is well done with many unexpected twists. Those who have seen Bong Joon Ho’s other film “Parasite” will have an idea. I especially liked the opposite trajectories for the two main cops. One becomes more aware of his weaknesses and tries to work more scientifically. The other gets increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress and becomes more and more undisciplined. And then there is the third sidekick cop. Let’s just say his fate was completely fitting for his character.
Finally the ending scene. I won’t give anything away. It was perfect.

The movie is : Police goes to house of the culprit, finds evidence that he is the culprit but since they are too shocked to react about it today, they just go back home, have dinner and come back the next day to catch the culprit only to find that the culprit has already burnt all the evidence.Police : Wheres the evidence?
Culprit : Burnt
Police : Where ?
Culprit : Kitchen
Police : Why would u do that?? leave the town right now, I can't stand you : (
The setting was so dark. Like, I know its supposed to be horror movie, but its so dark that you can't even see the ghost, how come its scary. lol.
This movie is full of cringe and pathetic dialogues, specially the acting of the little girl. It infuriated me so much that about 9999 times I felt like jumping into the movie and punching the actors.
The devil looks like a 3 year old's photoshop.
About 40 minutes into the movie I wondered when the movie would would actually start. Well, it never did. The movie ended from the 1st minute. I just did not realise. Google the movie, and just read the plot if you are too curious, don't waste your time watching the movie.
I totally understand why this movie is not popular, because, most people who realised how pathetic this movie is did a really good job in not recommending it to others. So, yea, DO NOT WATCH IT. Its not worth your precious time.

Watch it without reading/watching any reviews beforehand!
I made the mistake of watching some YouTube reviews before I watched the movie, so the plot twists were spoiled for me. Watch it going in blind and with an open mind.I think Kim Tae Ri was brave as a rookie actress taking on the role when she knew that full nudity (and more) was required, and she is amazing. She fully deserves all the awards she got afterwards.
The chemistry between Kim Min Hee and Kim Tae Ri was great and it's a pity that the controversy about Kim Min Hee's personal life overshadowed her acting in this film.
This is the first film I've seen from director Park Chan Wook, so I'm curious to see his past works and his latest one, Decision To Leave.
The Handmaiden is a masterpiece movie and highly recommended.

Plot twist, or not
I liked this movie okay enough but as another user mentioned you really do just watch a bunch of dudes try and solve the murder of some girl they just bullied online.One thing I don't get though is the users in defense of the Becca, she seemed like a piece of trash. The main characters were pieces of trash, everyone in this movie just sucks and you root for them at the beginning kinda because she was also flaming people online but it quickly just ramps up to caricature tier characterization and while it keeps you engaged it's not anything impactful. I watched the movie and didn't expect that ending so I was surprised and was even like "ouu" for a minute but after the movie ended I didn't care anymore.
Anyone with common sense has long been aware the internet is full of narcissistic terrible people and ruled by mob mentality. Witch hunts are commonplace and innocent people are doxxed for stupid reasons.
I feel like even if high-school self watched this when it first came out I'd still be unimpressed. It's like me pointing at some universal common fact and going "isn't this so true?" yes. It is. We get it, moving on

Personal Review
I personally watched this because I am a fan of GFriend. Didn't expect much, to be honest. However, it was generally good but of course there are downsides for me. Feels a bit rushed. Many unanswered questions. Personally, I think it would have been explained better if this was a series, unless otherwise there's potential plans for a second movie. Lastly, as a person who avoids horror movies very much and is SUPER scared of them, I recommend this one. If you get through the half of the movie, it will not be that scary and you'll also start to anticipate more.Was this review helpful to you?
