The pain of betrayal and how to regain your dignity after having experience the brink of death

Back From the Brink is one of my favorite xianxia dramas. I admit that there's a little loophole in the plot, but it doesn't defect me from enjoying it. So, now let us venture into the intriguing plot and characters!

Back From the Brink is adapted from one of Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's novel 'Hu Xin' which literally means protect the heart. It tells the interspecies romance of Tian Yao (once a legendary and ancient dragon) and Yan Hui (a freshly expelled Taoist cultivator). On Tian Yao's wedding day, his lover (Su Ying) dismembered him and sealed the entire parts of his body separately. In a final despair attempt, Tian Yao managed to gouge his dragon heart and sent it away before Su Ying could take action. He later died and possessed a body of a dead boy, trying to get back his body parts by hook or by crooks. Not long after that, Tian Yao encountered a bold yet cheerful former Taoist cultivator, Yan Hui, who coincidentally possessed Tian Yao's dragon heart. At first, they seemingly played the cat-and-mouse game as Yan Hui was adamant of Tian Yao's plan to use her with the purpose of getting his body. As the story progressed, Yan Hui slowly started to be attracted by Tian Yao and so did he. Just like the saying goes, if you've never encountered failure, how could you move on to become the better you? So, this drama depicts this saying in an excellent way. Nevertheless, the leads regained their dignities after encountering a lot of dangers in their adventure and nearly being in the slump of death multiple times.

As a novel reader, the story doesn't deviate very much except for the introduction of the shadow ghost (Bai Xiaosheng). At first, he might seem to be freaking annoying due to his interference of the main leads' relationship. Thank God I'm proved wrong. He was the CATALYST that would lead Tian Yao and Yan Hui to form a deeper bond which is more than just friends and companions. Also, he had numerous antics which would make me laugh like a lunatic. If I'm not mistaken, there was no Fu Yin (lord of the dark aura) in the novel. I guess it was made up for this drama. I'm not sure but I didn't like his character very much. Moreover, his backstory wasn't properly explained which led to the confusion of the watchers. I get that Fu Yin was a lonely person with only Xue Lin (a former Taoist cultivator who would eventually marry the fox king) as his companion. After Xue Lin got married, he began to resent everything in this world and turned evil. Is that all the writers have got? I wish we could see more about Fu Yin's flashback and how he transformed into the lord of dark aura.

Don't get me started at the ending! It was a SUPER LACKLUSTER! After a series of twist and turn, the writers decided to cram everything into the last episode and the KISS in the last scene was the prove of a happy ending?? Come on, we need more than just a kiss. At least, you can explain how Yan Hui was reincarnated again and found Tian Yao in the mortal world. Because of this reason and the above one, I will have to dock one point off the story.

Actings and chemistry are all fine. I've got no problem with that. What I like the most is the bickering relationship between Tian Yao and Yan Hui - there's always something they could debate of. Meanwhile, second couple (Xian Ge and Feng Qianshuo) have a more mature relationship and constantly support each other either financially or emotionally. Third couple (Huan Xiaoyan and Zhu Li) has a worse bickering relationship than the first couple and they seem to be pretty chaotic when they're together. Special mention to the fourth couple (Su Ying and Lu Musheng) who has one-sided love effect and the latter doesn't reciprocate thingy.

Guess I will end my rant until here. Although there're several cons, you can still watch it peacefully since it's a light-hearted xianxia compared to the angsty one (for instance, Till the End of the Moon). Happy watching and good luck.

don't waste your time watching this failed thailand remake!!!! korean is way better!!!!

I think this version overall needn't to be already released cause I feel it is a remake copied entirety but with different characters and so poorly executed, it is obvious the story should be the same as an adaptation of my id is gangnam beauty but to make the thailand version successful at least make some little twist in plot or tiny changes in places, the characters, the events...

in addition especially the character of female lead liu is written in a horrible way, she is so clumsy and insanely fond of faye like she is knowing her very well from a long time, at least compared with kang mi rae in the korean version, she was the same deceived by the second female lead at the start but she grew suspicious with time observing the way she is behaving with her, she is more aware and vigilant than the failed liu character written but looking at faye she is way more talented to be sly and cunning than the one in korean version and those in comments who considered faye is more successful than any actor in thailand version were right!!!!!

I only watched 4 episodes and getting sick from this failed remake, if talking about the male lead I think he is so dull and like obliged to act with so weak performance at least he was better in his average drama "devil sister"!!!!??? even the way liu is hating guy is so repulsive that she is not giving him a chance to defend himself, she is prejudiced him so terribly?‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♀️ in the korean version the female lead wasn't at good term at the beginning with the male lead but didn't hate him in a heinous way like liu is doing!!!! 7.6 is overly overrated for this unsuccessful farce in my opinion and not outstanding as the original!!!!

If you have not watched, Watch Now!

This medical drama with a touch of fantasy is a must-watch for fans of the genre. The story builds up gradually with well-thought-out character connections that are seamlessly revealed as the plot progresses. While there were no unexpected twists, the three ghosts and their stories are particularly touching and stand out among the cast.

Kim Bum's acting skills are versatile, and Rain's charisma shines through despite not being in many acting roles anymore. The climax is a rollercoaster of emotions, with tearjerking and heartwarming scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the series. The way the young Dr. Koh looked at Dr. Oh is sure to tug at your heartstrings.

As for what viewers can expect, the story provides a reality check that doctors can't save everyone, and it's this that builds the characters. The shift in the characters, such as Dr. Cha and Dr. Koh, is triggered by events that will keep you guessing until the very end. The story is a beautiful reminder of qualities like redemption, perseverance, dedication, and calling.

If you're looking for a medical drama with a little something extra, then this is a must-watch. With its well-developed story and characters, it's sure to be a favorite among many viewers. So, if you haven't watched it yet, it's time to add it to your watchlist now!

Fun, but it's not as unique as how the premise sounds.

Na Ah Jung (Jeon Jong Seo) works as a guest actress, playing various background roles. She has a gay friend Lee Do Han (Kim Do Han), whom she has known for 15 years. When Do Han needs a wife to appease his family, he asks Ah Jung to be his wife for 3 years. Do Han’s younger brother, Lee Ji Han (Moon Sang Min), is against this plan as he wants his brother to marry for a corporate alliance. Thus, he tries every way to break up their wedding, one being to make her fall in love with him. Ji Han and Ah Jung hate each other at first, but as he's trying, seems like he's the one who starts falling in love...

The premise of the drama is unique, and it played out quite fun on screen. All the actors are fantastic, especially Jeon Jong So who played Ah Jung, she's a feisty, capable and independent. Her and Ji Han has a great enemies banter is great and it's chaotic in a fun way when they start falling in love. However, the character I'm most curious about is Lee Do Han, as an openly gay man. His character introduction was intriguing, but as the story goes, I'm disappointed that his story was not explored much, I just feel sad for him.

The second half was not as fun as the first half. I don't understand the feelings and decisions of the leads. They're still supportive of each other but the conflicts make their relationships (friendships/romance) frustrating to watch. There's not enough communication among them, to explain why several things happen they way they are. This drama is still entertaining if you watch it for the romance. If you want to see character development, you'll probably get disappointed.

I HATE THIS MOVIEEEE!!! HOW DARE YOUUUUUUUUU

FIRST of all, I spent three nights(actually maybe more) crying for him y'all, I cried my heart out, whyyyyyyyyyy...

But yeah, I love this drama and would totally never watch this again... It touched my heart so deep... I love the actors and characters that they acted out, they're really good. I love the storyline, but remembering it just hurts my heart. It is quite a twisted ending for me..

If you want to cry, COME WATCH THIS, but maybe you'll regret it.....

That's all I can say, and also get ten boxes of tissues in advance, okay?

Must watch

I couldn’t stop watching this series, the main leads are just so pretty. I was waiting for days to finally watch it and when i did , it wasn’t disappointing at all . If you are looking for a sweet and funny gl dram , this is your pick . The plot twists , the characters and the drama is just so good and intriguing. You won’t get bored watching this and the visuals of the main leads are amazing . Although the age gap is quite big but the rest of the plot makes it not that bad. The acting was so cute , the interaction was funny and cute . The plot is very interesting and unique. Give it a watch for sure. No regrets

NOICEEE!!!

I REALLY LOVE THIS DRAMAAAAAA:
Why? It's just perfect for me... It touched my heart.. I can't really explain but yeah this is totally worth watching BUT here are some things that I don't really like about, but it's just for me: well one thing is that it doesn't only focus on the relationship and lives of two people, it also depicts the life of three others, it's not that I don't like the three others, it's just because I want to know more about the two but their scenes together are kinda too short for me(their scenes are actually flashbacks of their relationship), and I kinda get bored whenever it's the time for the three actually their four heheh....

But overall I loved it!!!
WAIT!!! Make sure to watch this, BUT BEFORE IT, you should get your tissues ready, okay?

MWAH!!!!

This DRAMA can only be described in one word.... PERFECT!

Well for me, this drama is veryyyyyyy fantastic, it just suits my taste...
The cast, the acting, ost, and plot is wonderful.
I can say this drama is WORTH watching, I really enjoyed this drama to the point tht I can watch it all over again.

Well yeah in simpler words, this drama is about a chef from the modern era, he got into an accident and time lapsed/time traveled into the past, wherein he found himself in the body of the soon to be queen, he tried many ways to come back but he couldn't, and then afterwards he got used to living there and got close with the king.

JUST WATCH IT AND TRUST ME, YOU WON'T REGRET SPENDING YOUR TIME WATCHING IT!!!!

This is only my opinion, but I want to express it in some way... I only reached episode 4 of this drama because it was quite boring for me, I don't really like slow phased dramas, and I'm not sure if it's just that I lost interest in watching dramas those days... but I don't really know if it's worth finishing and I don't think I will continue to watch it....

I can say the plot is alright, and as well as the acting and actors.

okay but not awesome

I've lost track on how often the plot changed. Sometimes it felt like I was watching a different drama and had to make sure it's still this one ?? the first episodes were promising and I kinda felt the chemistry between the ML and FL. the music is nice and so are the special effects. It was okay but not that awesome as expected. the actors did a good job but the plot was meh. maybe the story could have been just 8 short episodes and would have been better instead of 16 with fillers.
wouldn't watch again.

Had potential, couldn't live up to it

This was ... not a good show. The first 5 episodes were straight fire, and then it dropped significantly in quality, and by episode 17 I had to give up. It was becoming painful to watch.

I think the show could have benefitted from having lesser episodes, but ultimately the biggest flaw in my eyes was the acting. And by that I'm really just referring to one person, haha. The FL was hands down one of the worst actresses in a major role that I've ever seen. Someone on Reddit described her as "looking thicker than a bowl of porridge" and after I scream-laughed, I had to agree. She has no charisma or chemistry with any of her co-stars, romantic or platonic.

The male stars carry this show on their shoulders and are the only reason I even made it to episode 17, even though the actor playing Ji-hoo is definitely the second weakest link in the show. And Ga Eul shines as well.

But considering that more than half the scenes are around the FL, it was just too aggravating for me to continue. She seems to lack complete awareness of her face and body, so 8/10 times the emotions that she's trying to project often just make her look ... well, thicker than a bowl of porridge. I can't fully blame her for this; it seems that this was in part due to the direction she was receiving.

I was really looking forward to this after Meteor Garden which I enjoyed but found just way too long. So I thought 25 episodes would be a really significant step-up to the storytelling. Unfortunately this just goes to show how one bad actor can ruin an otherwise good thing.

A very misleading name

I thought it would be a rom-com by the name which j am not a fan of so avoided it for a while until j got told kt was a medical drama.
The romance of the side couple was so awkward to watch with the guy getting rejected several times because of issues stem from money as she was a nurse and he was a doctor. I always wanted da eun to end up with her best friend something j usually hope doesn't happen so was a nice change
The actual drama was understandable and easy for me to follow with no medical knowledge giving me awareness of the many disorders out there and how it can affect individuals of different backgrounds.
The patient that died made me cry as I completely adored him as he was so sweet with da eun it broke my heart when he thought dying was the better option
