Amazing

I love this drama so so so much. I found out about this drama through youtube and the fact that it stars a kpop idol, I just knew I had to watch. I do not stan WayV or any of the NCT units but I might start now because oh my god I loved Yan Yue so much. He is responsible, respectful, he cooks for her, he has good communication skills (for the most part), he's kind, he protects her from her sh*tty ex, and he is utterly gorgeous. What more can I wish for in a male lead? I also really loved An Ran. I don't mind the older/younger trope, as long as it's a reasonable gap, and I really like the way they set her up as slightly immature for her age so they balanced each other well. I also love love love that she protects him just as much as he protects her. They didn't set them up to be unequal, they both give an equal amount to the relationship. I just adore them so much, I don't know else how to express that anymore though without spoiling a lot. So onto my babies, Ying Jun and Meng Yao. I am a big sucker for the enemies to lovers trope, it never gets old for me. I really enjoyed that it didn't jump immediately from enemies to lovers though, that they actually set up a friendship first. Then we had the trouble period or as I like to call it, the Ying Jun not recognising his own feelings nor Yao Yaos. It's ok though, he figured it out eventually and they were so precious together.
Speaking of Ying Jun, can I just applaud the writers for giving us a completely platonic male/female friendship between Ying Jun and An Ran? No one sided feelings, he didn't like her in the past, they are just purely platonic besties and I love it!! Their friendship is so cute and wholesome. Speaking of cute and wholesome friendships, An Ran and Yao Yao were so lovely. I won't lie, when Yao Yao was introduced I was expecting her to be the second fl and for their friendship to be kind of surface level but no. They are supportive and loving and it's amazing. Also get you a friend who you can call on the phone while you're literally in the bathroom, I love it. The other employees were also lovely, I loved them all so much. They cared for and supported each other through everything, it was beautiful.
All that being said, I really think you should watch this. It's honestly my new favourite contemporary drama and I hope it will be yours too. The sound track is also really good, I'll be adding a few to my playlist. 11/10 stars<3

Give it a try!

**Disclaimer: This is just my opinion, please don't take anything I say personally. We don't have to agree and I'm not here to argue with anyone.***

"Destined With You" is one of those dramas that you have to stick with until it gets better. I’m not going to lie it was so hard finding motivation to keep watching but after episode 7 it started to pick up and I have to say I started enjoying the plot twists, mystery and thriller aspect of it. It is seriously so interesting. I especially loved the backstory of Mu Jin and Aeng Cho. Though their love was ill-fated from the start you can see he killed her to ensure they would not dismember her and that she would live on through the curse. The fact that Mu Jin said in another life let them be happy… and this life they want to be happy but were unable to because of the curse and that crazy psychopath of a man (Na Jung-Beom) was so frustrating and unfair.

Rowoon looks so gorgeous in this drama… that was enough to keep me watching haha 😭 Idk but something about him with the slick back hair as the serious / brooding lawyer is. He also was giving a buzz and then when its all combed down he looks like a cute puppy / golden retriever. AHHH I love how he’s giving us rangeeee and I can’t wait to see him in his next projects.

Bo Ah is such a good actress the way she conveys what she’s feeling through her eyes alone is literally a talent.

For once I actually prefer the latter half of a drama rather than the usual trend of the drama falling off / being disappointing the end.

Let’s talk about Rowoon and Bo Ah's chemistry in episodes 13-15, 15 especially – it was off the charts! I'm talking about that kiss, whew! — I can see why shaman lady (Eun Wol) called the next morning and was like Shin Yu and Hong Jo would be conceiving a girl. I mean, I got pregnant just watching that scene haha. Jokes aside, I'm not sure why people were doubting their incredible chemistry, but you know, there will always be haters or people who don't receive media in the same way and have no appreciation for the effort / artistry that goes into it. I think the writers did a good job of neatly wrapping up the ending. Obviously they would have needed more episodes to really delve into the magic and the lore of Hong Jo’s shaman powers / lineage etc… but so far they did well with the little they were able to keep / use.

I also liked the various side characters stories especially between Mr. Gong and Ms. Ma. They were kind of on / and off all the time but I'm happy they worked out their differences and got married in the end. At first I did not like Hong Jo's workers but I warmed to them because they are very funny / silly. I also liked the side story about Shin Yu's mother and father... it seemed like they were always playing cat and mouse with each other, and you thought they were going to divorce - but in the end, they're going to have a baby. To say I was surprised is an understatement. To be honest, I thought the mom was starting to like Shin Yu's lawyer friend and that they'd end up together, but the drama didn't go in that direction at all.

I didn't particularly like Mr. Kwon / Jae Gyeong, but I'm glad he remained a good guy until the end. Life is all about timing, and he completely missed his with Hong Jo, so he can only blame himself. I thought it was a little cheeky of him to tell her that if she doesn't marry Shin Yu within the next six months, she should call him, but whatever - at least it ended amicably.

One aspect of the show that I dislike is their inability to finish the shamanism/curse storyline. They expect me to believe that the curse has been magically broken and Shin Yu is completely healed? Honestly, I was wondering if there was something missing or if there was more to it because the final scene shows Mu Jin, of the past ,walking away with a spell book of the heavens or something? I'm also curious if Hong Jo's near-death experience, which included almost being poisoned and then being resuscitated... is what broke the curse in the end? Little details like this being forgotten / not being explained is what kind of irritated me about the drama and made me take off points.

In my opinion, the ending was very touching and adorable... I was smiling the entire time and was relieved that it didn't end on a sad / bittersweet note with the main characters suffering. Spoiler alert: Hong Jo is not pregnant, but they will get married and live happily ever after. It took them 300 years to get here, but they did it!

The OST they chose is just so beautiful and heartfelt. The songs perfectly complement the story and will stay with you long after you finish watching the drama.

I for one am impressed and proud of myself for not dropping this drama and I guess I would rewatch it for the vibes and cute moments.

If you enjoy light fantasy, mystery, and reincarnation dramas, you should give this one a shot. Hopefully, you will not be disappointed.

With that, I give this drama a resounding 8/10.

I thought this was cute!

😭😭😭 I thought this was adorable. I didn't like them much in TharnType or Don't Say No, but I ended up loving this! I like that their dynamics switched in these roles compared to the roles they usually take on personality wise.

The cringe parts are phased out after a few episodes, they're also intentional and I found them funny, but that's just me.

It IS funny to me that out of everything that happened, the notes are what did them in. The episode 11 curse. 😂 but overall this was a pretty low angst show and I had no issues with the NC scenes, they were all well done!

I tend to like most BLs that get review bombed. 😂 I enjoyed it. Super cute and hilarious!

Melodrama of the Month Award winner

It was painstaking watching the main characters being tortured emotionally or physically for thirty-nine episodes. I am just relieved that it is over, and that the characters are out of sight, out of mind. Cheng Yi and Zhang Yu Xi kept the drama flowing, even when it dragged with the singing and evilness on screen. Cheng Yi is the official Melodrama King. Yunshen suffered physically and emotionally, and cried in two-thirds of the drama, Fu Yunshen would have lived a happy life with a different mother. Zhang Yu Xi is Main Lead Queen of the Month. Zhu Jiu put up with a lot of sh^& from Mother Jiang Shu Ning.

This should be labeled as a musical melodrama. The singing was extraneous, overt and repetitive. If the director wanted so much singing, he should have told the actors to sing these songs, instead of using phantom singers. Otherwise the BGM was very good.

It was no surprise that the two pathetic villains, Fu Xi Zhou and Jiang Shu Ning, had their redemption at the end. They were unscrupulous, vindictive, manipulative. They should have died instead of the nicer people, Grandpa, Dr Ji, Aunty Dr Addy, Grandma, Zhu Jiu's Mother and Father. I was cringing when Ruan Ruan and Xi Zhou reunited at the end, and had babies.

The singing diluted the emotion on screen. If they had trimmed the singing and some of the episodic content, it would have been very effective as a 30 episode drama.

Final rating: 8, with deductions for the singing and the pathetic villains and their evilness

This drama reminds me of the Kdramas with the drama plot and incessant singing and the song quality. In particular, Yunshen and Zhu Jiu reminded me of Winter Sonata's YuJin and Joon Sang, with their emotional torture and the manipulative mothers.

My lifetime K-drama

There's a reason why I have watched Master's Sun for 7 times and will get back to it anytime If it's possible. It's like an addiction without withdrawal symptoms where every bits of the storyline feels like an Easter egg on each rewatch. The chemistry between Gong Hyojin and So Jisub is just top-notch and honestly this work got to be their best work in terms of dynamics nothing that both are prominent actors with noteworthy filmography. Never once I felt skeptical about the story and the direction of this drama; sensible flow and delivery, good sense of humour, touch of humanity here and there and most importantly authentic. I recommend everyone to watch!

Great start. Lost me with the cheating.

The first half of Destined With You was great. It was funny and I was enjoying the fantasy element as well as the creepy bloody hand. In fact, I started to miss it later.

My biggest issue was that the ML despite having a girlfriend, kisses the FL. This was clearly a red flag for me so much so that I was angry with the character for a good few episodes and couldn't enjoy the story.

The other issue I had was that by the end, it isn't completely clear if anyone was acting under the power of the love spell or not because of the twist. I'm not sure why they made it seem so confusing. That's a plot hole.

Third biggest problem I had with the show is the father being verbally abusive to the mother as well as negligent towards her needs and the writers made them patch up after teasing a caring younger guy as a potential love interest. There was one more female character that was divorced and found love. Not sure why ML's mother didn't deserve better as well? Is it because they didn't want her to find love with a younger man? The father was so horrible towards the FL as well. All the more the mom should be with a nicer man. This is the second such drama that disappointed me in this regard. First being Doctor Cha.

I still have a few doubts related to the story. Towards the end, I decided to speed it up because the story was moving a bit too slowly.

The best thing about this drama was the SML. I wish FL had ended up with him. He was a really decent guy. FL and ML's chemistry was nice except for the weird cheating aspect. SFL was stunning but unbearable. Acting wise, everyone did great. It was the story that let me down in the second half.

The OST of the drama is beautiful.

I would say the first half of the drama is a lot more fun than the second half. It's not a bad drama but it could have been better with a bit of tweaking.

I don't really write reviews for dramas but this was an exception. ( going to keep it short and simple )
What a great drama with such a beautiful ending. They started from a cute couple with thrillers in between and with again a hot&cute couple in the end. Both the actors have really good chemistry and Rowoon's acting has improved drastically. Thanks to the writers and the production team for bringing such an amazing drama. This was truly a masterpiece with a for sure 100% rewatch value. I'm gonna miss them so much.

MASTERPIECE a little outdated but fantastic nonetheless!

PLOT:
A FL, with low qualifications, becomes a teacher in the high school from which she had been expelled 6 years ago, hired by the ML's mother-in-law, to ensure that the ML (son of a good family, rebel) get back in line . The FL meets again her former art teacher there (ML's uncle) whom she has a crush on.

I'm not a fan of the student-teacher relationship (I was a teacher for a long time, and in real life, a teacher would'nt even think about having a romantic relationship with a student), but I was moved by the devotion of Tae In, by his unconditional love. It must be said that this character is brought to life by Gong Yoo (ABSOLUTELY MAGISTRAL in this role ❤❤❤, where he proves his immense talent).

FL is played by Gong Hyo Jin, of whom I am also a fan. She gives substance to a touching character. Resourceful in life, she feels inferior to the other teachers, and shy in front of her crush. She clings to her dreams (teacher - marriage with her crush) despite her doubts.

No Second Lead Syndrome in this series. I don't like Hyun Woo's character, his lack of decision, his way of swimming between two waters, his way of loving FL, ...

The other characters are well developed. But we must recognize that we don't really care about the problems of high school students ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ because the main line / driving force of this series is the Gong Yoo / Gong Hyo Jin interactions!

Nothing to say about the OSTs, well adapted but not memorable.
The French subs are obviously from Google Translate, too bad!

I don't know if I will watch this drama again, but I don't regret having spent this wonderful moment with two of my favorite Korean actors.

=> Don't miss this GEM!! ꒒ ০ ⌵ ୧ ♡
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

=> Ne passez pas à côté de ce joyau !! ꒒ ০ ⌵ ୧ ♡

A drama with potential, let down by lack of finesse.

The writer, Noh Ji Sul, penned the full-on, tear-stained melo, Scent of a Woman and also 100 Days My Prince (which I haven’t seen). Here we have out and out romcom for the first half and melo-drama for the last part. It’s worth noting that the genre tags are romance and drama, not romcom. It seems she likes extremes and she mixes them here in line with the current trend of fudging genres.

Being used to fixed genres it can sit uncomfortably when they are blended. A great deal of viewer enjoyment comes from having expectations fulfilled. When they are not the viewer is pulled out of the world of the story to deal with their own reactions. You can see it reflected in the comments section for this show. However, in the constant search for something new and different I can see this trend continuing and no doubt we will all adjust our expectations accordingly.

This story is set in two different time periods but the movement between them is somewhat random. Sometimes there are links via dreams, other times were are just catapulted back, which felt disjointed. Some visual/cinematic clues would have gone a long way to smooth the jumps and wouldn’t have been hard to implement. Just part of the overall lack of finesse I mentioned in the subject line.

Even in the present, the timeline was repeatedly twisted up. Once or twice will have the desired effect of increasing tension, but when used too much, you know you are being manipulated and it becomes annoying.

The plot in the past could have occupied a whole drama in itself but was rushed through. I felt the balance in the overall story was off, particularly as I spent the first five episodes twiddling my thumbs in the present time waiting for something to happen. If the writer, and later, the director/editor had decided on a more even weight and distribution throughout between past and present it would have woven a better and more compelling story.

I was puzzled in the first two thirds of the show why they should like each other at all. There were very few interactions that could build attraction and yet all of a sudden there was undying love. Later on the chemistry really worked and drew me in, becoming much more believable. But the viewer needed more ground to stand on early in the piece to give it credibility and a more clever weaving in of the backstory would have solved the problem.

The opening episodes are really at a romcom level, and the action is highly exaggerated to suit that type of presentation. But it does tend to undermine the credibility of the emotions to the point that I felt character integrity was being sacrificed for the sake of a joke. Whereas at the end credibility was sacrificed for a somewhat ridiculous stalker plot.

Rowoon has been very busy in some top-rated dramas in the last few years and he’s not stopping. Is he more than a pretty face? Well he does a decent job here, although his perfect good looks need to be ruffled a little more to really convince. I liked Jo Bo Ah’s performance better, and she is also an actor on the rise with some noteworthy performances on her CV.

In supporting roles, Park Kyung Hye gave a brilliant comedic performance as the desperate Son Sae Byeol, deliciously contorting her face like a slapped arse for most of the time. And Hyun Bong Sik oozed as the slightly sleazy manager Gong Seo Gu.

The cinematography in the historical section is beautifully done, with great use of colour and contrast. There’s some traditional fireworks and those scenes were very beautiful. I’d really love to see those myself - one for the bucket list…

What’s the line between accepted notation and cliché? Is it a matter of viewer perception? For me the accepted notations, such as flickering lights meaning spooky etc, were just too frequent not to fall into tired cliché. There was a distinct lack of imagination and freshness in dealing with the supernatural aspects which really should be laid at the door of the director. As far as the script goes, there’s not a lot of subtlety. It gets the job done rather than looking for novelty. You won’t have to read between any lines here.

Finally, it really isn’t hard to decide what season a drama takes place in. And here it was all over the place. People wearing shorts at Christmas, everything full green and verdant in the depths of winter. Talking about being cold and then hanging out outside. Just unnecessary, sloppy production.

MY FAVORITE ROMCOM OF 2023

I'M GOING TO MISS THIS SERIES SOOOO BADLY. 😭😭

The narration is non-linear so each episode was a treat for me. I thoroughly enjoyed analyzing and trying to predict what would happen next, only to be amazed at how things are revealed.

And that was a VERY satisfying and full-packed finale.

Thank you, screenwriter and PD-nim for this masterpiece.

Thank you as well to all the actors and production crew who served their best in every episode.

EVERYONE ACTED SOOOOO WELL IN THIS DRAMA, ESPECIALLY THE MAIN LEADS!!!

Jo Bo Ah, Kim Seok Woo/Rowoon, it was a privilege watching your craft every week. Thank you very much. I love you! 💓

The real meaning of YOUTH

when i first started to watch this drama i was not very much moved by this but when i read the discription and i thought that maybe me as a viewer can relate by this so i continue watch this till i realised that it is vey much realistic, I really loved watching this drama so much i feel emotions like confusion, friendship, envy, attachment, hope and the main is LIFE GOAL or MOTIVE and MEANING

according to me, i really love the character of "YU CHENG EN" as "CHEN JIN" the reason behind me liking Chen Jin is whenever Luo Qi Qi is in trouble or somehow she got stuck in between hesitation he will come as light in Luo Qi Qi's life and helped her to find the path on her own not by forcing or something just saying some words and by his actions Chen Jin is like a guide in Luo Qi Qi's life

and here now comes with "AFFECTION" in this series there are only two emotions shown mostly 1st is affection and 2nd is envy
The affection between Qi Qi and Xiao Bo for each other, cares for each other like there is a connection between them and this shows that even blood relations get fades if you don't show love and support with your family. Qi Qi and Xiao Bo have unbreakable bond and they care for each other that makes my heart flutter; this shows they both are nothing without each other this kind of care says all ^^
and in the last 2nd ep i fell in love with Zhang Jun especially when he follows her step by step and let her misunderstand that he is Xiao Bo so that Qi Qi can move further
ost is as good as drama don't need to say more

Last but not least i would say the production team of "STAND BY ME (2023)" nailed the show what they wanted to show i.e. the emotions the attachment the jealously the envy the sadness all the ACTORS come it to life and make a GREAT SHOW

lastly i would like to request for season 2! its hard not to see them at the end standing beside each other i was expecting them to meet at that river side ㅠㅠ
THANK YOU :)

A good one with touch of a real life feeling

I liked it. It was a story of a couple getting together and how their relationship grows. There was less drama and unrealistic plots, it was more like what could happen in real life and how people feel things for real. Of course this series had its own share of not so great scenes so it wasn't perfect but enjoyable enough.

The plot handled different type of issues that were mostly solved within one episode. And most importantly the couples talked about issue not just being a drama qeen and being several episodes apart just because of some idiotic misunderstanding that could have been solved in seconds if they only have talked each other.

If you like more drama and anxiety this may not be your favorite but for others it's a nice and relaxing series to watch.
