What the hell kind of ending was that!?

I hate going into these dramas with absolutely no warning that the writer/director is going to throw in a complete cliff hanger at the end without even a hint that there will be a continuation. Ironically, the story was not bad, and the acting was pretty convincing. The writing was choppy at best - and there are so many loose ends left hanging that none of the story arcs got tied up or even explained.

The ML was fantastic - the FL just meh. The two villains were convincing and good-looking. The FL character's family's story was left hanging. Her mother's story was left hanging.

What a mess! Hopefully anyone who is looking to watch this drama will be forewarned. It's a waste of time since there is no resolution or any kind of wrap up at the end. The only reason I rated this as much as I did was the acting.

Boring

I found this drama really boring and uninspiring. Things keep on happening all the time, new drama and new revelations, but theres no substance to them or the reactions that follow because its so constant that it leaves no breathing room for getting to know the characters. I have seen some people praising this aspect of the drama because it cuts out the fluff, but theres really no reason to root for anyone in this drama without the fluff or buildup.

Besides that, the acting is just not good. I would say two people, thankfully including the fl, Jung Yoo Min does a good job acting-wise. Almost everyone else either overacts (Its supposed to be dramatic, I know, but it was too much even then) or underacts and speak like they are just straight up reading off the script with 0 conviction.

Overall, not a good watch, would not recommend it.

I can see why its one of the hottest dramas for 2023

This drama is about the story of a second chance in life. During the start it can be a bit confusing as they only show snippets of what happened in FL’s past life. However as the story develops, you will see how the past affects her decisions for the current life and how she is trying to be good this time round. Not too much romance going around at the beginning though FL has 3 love interests and lots of scheming plots among the villains as the FL tries to survive in the palace. Both FL and MLs played their roles perfectly. For some reason I kind of hoped the FL went with Zhang Zhe though. Kissing scenes were also really intense in the later episodes.

How to survive a broken marriage ?

PLOT: The FL, ex-elite in studies and professional field, became a housewife after the birth of her daughter. One day she realizes that her husband is cheating on her and has put all their assets in his name. She decides to join forces with the mistress to ensure she has custody of her daughter and gets back what is rightfully hers. She also needs to find a job...

PROS:
+ This woman's journey is intelligently written. Lots of divorcees (myself included) can identify with the character.
+ This drama is brought to life by excellent actors. Everyone, including the hateful husband.
+ Very nice sorority between wife and mistress

CONS:
- the narration is quite slow. [Divorce only happens in ep. 26].Okay, it's a long journey and a slow, complex process, but some of the arcs (kidnapping by the grandparents) go on way too long. I would have liked the reconstruction of FL's life to take up more space on the screen.
- the character of the husband (then ex-husband) takes up too much space in this drama. His behavior sometimes lacks subtlety: narcissistic perverts behave with more finesse, even if it is certainly difficult to translate into a series.
- the romance of CL is almost absent: only 1 kiss at the wedding, no hug or skinship = 0 chemistry ლ(ಠ_ಠლ)

=> Series mainly focused on the acceptance of the failure of a marriage, divorce, reconstruction. It's an intelligently written story, but the characters (mature yet also cold and calculating) are not really endearing.
******************************************************************************************

... anyway

Finally finished this one. Had it on pause because it was just so boring and draggy that I got annoyed. The leads and their chemistry truly carried this drama since it didn’t offer anything interesting plot-wise. Which is why I find it crazy to make each episode 70+ minutes long. A reason why I liked “Business Proposal” so much is that the episodes were all 60 minutes long, there weren’t any unnecessary plots/storylines, and it was interesting. KTL was too long for what it offered, which is why I didn’t enjoy it as much. Sometimes, the secondary characters were annoying, the “antagonist” childish to be honest… like she was beefing at her big age over the hotel… anyway.

Also, what was the point of the Arab prince? They used his character as a plot devise to move forward our couple by making him ridiculous. I don’t know why they had to be culturally offensive, the writer could have just made the character some important business man or a politician. Why use stereotypes and mocking an entire ethnicity? That part was just super insensitive and dumb because him being an “Arab prince” didn’t add anything to the plot, it wasn’t important where he came from – he just served as comic relief.

If it wasn’t for Yoon Ah’s and Jun Ho’ chemistry, double speed and the fast-forwarding button, I would have never finished this. It entertained me, made me giggle, and even made me lose a tear or two, but overall, this was disappointing.

Perfect drama with lots of interesting plots

BaiLu and zheng linghe both are good looking and great potential to play strong characters. I personally liked BaiLu because she is the one who described her role gracefully. Jiang xiuening who played by BaiLu had so many relationship issues which caused her hell. All of her characters justified very gradually and most importantly her co male artist all of them are so sweet and doing their job greatly. Zhang linghe and BaiLu both have great chemistry which can show off camera.. and yes of course BaiLu always had relationship with her co star so not like they are lovers etc.. I just find them looking great together

BaiLu is a great actress who has so many great talents

BaiLu and Dylan wang both are great actors and good looking which makes drama more interesting to watch.Story base drama is good because it’s has love, ambition, passion about work, handling problems with their own judgements,so yes it was pretty good.. BaiLu’s acting skills always makes me impressed..all the characters doing well and perfectly executed whole drama. I like most when BaiLu and wang Heidi romantic scenes, they looks so natural , it’s feel they made for each others I love their chemistry so much. It’s easy to watch them because they portrayed every role very clearly.. Hopefully we can see them as an ancient drama, wuxia, because I think they are perfect. Both had historical successful drama and they are looked so good together

Beautiful and heartwarming

Happy endings are the best endings, and this was one of them. I have so many things to say about this beautiful Kdrama. From the first episode, I fell in love with the story, the characters, and the music.

All characters were well-written, and the support roles are included. The actors did so well bringing their characters to life, and the two actors portraying the young version of Mokha and Kiho are such good actors.

Mokha and Kiho were so cute together, always supporting each other ♥.

Kiho: "What kind of lunatic searches 15 years for someone he's uninterested in”

Mohka: "What kind of crazy woman would worry for a man for 15 years without any feelings”.

Their love is so beautiful♥

Kiho is such a walking green flag. He waited 15 years for Mohka, even prepared everything for her, and always supported her. I'm not going to lie, I'd have loved some more romance just to feed my hunger for it lol, but this was perfect anyway. It was about her journey, and her desire to become a singer.

Kiho and Chaeho, my two walking green flags. Ki Ho with his puppy eyes and beautiful smile, and Chaeho with his bright personality. I'm glad this didn't turn into a love triangle although my poor Woohak/Chaeho suffered a little.

The main topic of the drama is domestic abuse, and let me tell you the father is so scary and annoying. He remained a coward and selfish until the end, even using his own death to hurt and harm those closest to him. I'm glad he couldn't keep hurting them. At least this family had the happy ending they deserved.

The OST is just soooo beautiful that I couldn’t stop listening to it (and I think I will listen to it for a long time). Park Eunbin’s voice is like honey. Her singing was a blessing to my ears. It's so amazing when a non-professional singer sings so well. She really is a great singer and a great actress.♥

Side note: The only thing that bothers me about the story is the time she was on the island. I think 15 years is too much, and she was in good health? her skin, hair, and everything was healthy. How is that even possible? that makes no sense lol. Despite this, I really loved this show.

I like the ending, it was also so balanced. Not rushed or too draggy, Just perfect and beautiful. I cried so much while watching this, and they even played 'Someday' at the end of the last episode only to make me cry even more. I'm going to miss this drama so much ?

The best part for me: the comedy and the chemistry

Set in the small village in 1989, Byung Tae, who was formerly bullied, transfers to a new school. He is somehow mistaken as the school's best fighter, White Tiger. He happily takes on this identity, as he is determined not to be bullied again. However, when the real White Tiger moves to this school, can he handles his daily life with him, bullies, all while he start developing crushes?

It's a unique premise regarding mistaken identity. The retro set was very well designed as it looks charming and vibrant. The first half of the series is just full of ridiculous goodness, slap-sticky comical action scenes that reminds me of watching those old Jackie Chan classics. It’s a coming of age story, with many day-to-day schoolboys activities at school and after school. There is a romance subplot with a sparkling chemistry and it’s the most memorable part for me. However, it gets heavy on the bullying main story towards the ending and the twist towards that turn felt jarring and kind of nasty, personally. Although I get that it gives a decent arc for Byung Tae.

I enjoyed the fun cast interacting together. Obviously, I love Im Si Wan as Byung Tae. Not only he's excellent at being dorky, when he falls in love, his expressions are priceless. He has played a lot of different roles and always nails it.

One of the Best Named BLs Ever!

I must admit that this is one of the best named BL series ever. It has such an encompassing name that it is hard to forget. It is quite poetic. I just wish the actual series lived up to the title. Well, let me clarify that. It does; and yet, it does not. It is a breeze; I am just not so sure about the love. Admittedly, it is an intriguing story made unnecessarily complicated. This is a great series, unquestionably. It could have been a masterpiece, however. What it lacked was an impact. I enjoyed it but simply found the major characters too unrelatable in their stoicism.

Beautiful cinematography, lacklustre last quarter

Wonderland of Love was a show I started watching while waiting for SOKP’s new episodes. I did not expect much from WoL- the title suggested a focus on romance and I had little interest in picking up a Xu Kai show as I hadn’t enjoyed any of his last performances.

However, I would say that up till episode 32, this was a solid show. The characters are interesting, particularly Li Ni (Xu Kai), and the veteran actors particularly elevated this show. The show had some of the best cinematography I’ve seen this year - like this director’s other works (The Untamed and even Legends) there are lovely shots of characters standing on rocks. The scene with Ciu Lin and Li Ni in the grass was lovely.

When it started, Wonderland of Love was a story about doing what’s right over what one desires out of life. For Shiqi what he truly desired was to be free. Yet Ciu Lin pushed him to be the crown prince, and he was so determined not to tread this path that he even broke up with her for that. In a way theirs was a deep love that goes beyond separation and insignificant matters. They each stand for what they believe them and defend those beliefs even if it meant to separate from each other. Love should not demand the sacrifice of one’s true self, and despite their love for each other, I liked that they respected each other, even if different values guided them.

The best episodes on the show were definitely episode 30 and 31. 30 was heartbreaking- the camaraderie and affection between Shiqi and the other guys makes this episode both shocking as well as tragic. None of the deaths are just for shock value - the friends say their farewells to Shiqi in a dream sequence in episode 31 complemented by Chen Xueran’s beautiful song. This is the best I have seen of Xu Kai- his restrained grief was very well done, and his scene with Jing Tian as he recuperated was really heartbreaking, as was his memorial for his friends. The scene was beautiful - Xu Kai (Li Ni) spitting blood after taking a sip of the wine, and the bamboo grasshoppers falling from the sky.

The cinematography was spectacular, really. At least until episode 31.

I wouldn't say that the beginning episodes were perfect - they were plenty of choppy moments - the editing was simply off for a long time, but still one tried to piece everything together. It made sense to some extent. Then came the best episodes: 30 and 31. Then, the show went in another direction. There were unnecessary villains - very annoying, clingy characters that never get a hint. I started forwarding the remaining episodes.

Anyway I hung on till episode 40, which was actually better than the episodes preceding it. The moment between the father and son in episode 40 was touching, but it did not really allow Shiqi the opportunity to heal those childhood wounds from the lack of love he received from his father.

I think Xu Kai did the best he could with whatever he had - this role suited him well. Jing Tian was good too, although I did not enjoy her character's trajectory from a cool woman to crown princess/empress. Somewhere along the line I’m not sure what the show really was about.

Is it worth watching? I think so - particularly for the first 31 episodes, for the beautiful cinematography and for the performances overall. I enjoyed many of the supporting characters- Consort Xiao’s love story was lovely, and the bond between the imperial grandson and Han was touching too. There were certainly many solid moments. If only this script matched up to some of the cinematography then perhaps it would have made for a better show.

Good Introduction till Episode 6, but average in mid and later parts.

Meh, overall average drama. Mannerisms of Park Eun Bin seemed like she was trying to relive extraordinary attorney woo days with jelloa do accent. ML was totally absent from whole drama and his brother (SML) seemed more prominent to the story, maybe he was overshadowed by his own younger self. One-time watch.
The whole struggle of FL seemed lacking with the addition of Kim Hyo Jin. Amidst the whole different storylines the writer should have given more time and emotions in each and every aspect of struggle from FL being above age, FL's struggle on Island(which should have been given a whole episode), Hyo Jin with her voice and ML with his family. Writer tried to tackle too much in too little detail and overall execution seemed bland and suffered from emotional disconnect. Finally the biggest weak point is in trying to lift up FL so much the casting of ML should have been better. He lacked so much screen presence in front of Eun Bin, guy should work in more dramas as Second lead or take more male centric parts to hone up his presence. I watched another of his drama Unlock my boss and it suffered from same problem.
Lastly, point of appreciation for high school parts played by teenage actors , they rocked their parts.

I recommend it!

I would suggest this show to anyone who loves an exciting and captivating show. The title is not attractive, but the show sure is. This show is brilliant in every way. The plot is fantastic, 10/10, and the actors and characters are phenomenal.

It is a very well-built story and full of unexpected turns. The chemistry is good, and the overall vibe, too. This is a heartwarming and dynamic show with many plot twists I think many will enjoy. This show made my heart flutter in so many ways. I love it!

a must-watch drama!

talk about chemistry!!! this show honestly captured me the second i started watching. idk if it was because i was eating my dinner, or my adhd brain was like "this is so crazy, i love it" but i could not take my eyes away!! i watched the full 20 episodes in 24 hours (stayed up until 8 am, got 4 hours of sleep, and continued watching) and i don't regret it at all.

the characters, mm mm mmmh! yes, lee gun is a bit annoying, yet there is this weird charm to it, where u can't help but fall in love with his quirks. and kim miyong is to die for. she is absolutely gorgeous and a girl who is too kind for her own good. i really didn't mind the fact she was a bit helpless, because it totally made sense as to why! and by the end, she had this amazing character arc that i was rooting for her the entire time. i just wanted to protect her from everything and i 100% understand why gun fell for her, as i did too~ and the romance... it has your heart racing, gripping your toes just from how amazing it is. i literally started crying by the 7th episode over how much i loved the show, it filled my heart up so much and i looked forward to every scene between gun and miyoung to witness cute moments. and these actors can ACT! no wonder they were casted in so many dramas together, their love felt so real.

and the side characters: silly, cute, and a bit annoying (yes i'm looking at YOU, sera) but i enjoyed them a lot, especially the secretary and lee yong. my man choi jinhyuk (daniel's actor) and i have a lot of history, so imagine my surprise after i just finished watching heirs, to see him in this show, i died of laughter. i did get a little bit bored with the whole sister side plot, but i didn't mind it enough that i felt like it ruined the show for me, noo. just a bit of a nuisance.

but this is a romcom with a LOT of angst though. the middle of the show had me crying so hard that i literally had to pause the show and sob for 30 minutes. you will get so attached to these characters and feel exactly what they feel. i don't know if the ending 100% pays off for the amount of sorrow i went through, but it was a sweet ending nonetheless.

my only complaint is the fact the entire pregnancy plot gets dropped halfway through the drama. i get it, she lost her child and it was the turning point of the show, yet i really really wish it didn't take that turn. i wanted to watch a show that followed this unlikely couple going through pregnancy and then raising a child, so i was a bit disappointed it didn't happen. like imagine the cuteness overload we could've gotten as miyoung neared giving birth and how overprotective gun would've been!! but, it still was a great drama even with this little problem i had. (btw if any dramas are similar to what i described plz recommend some!)

but other than that, this is a drama i'll remember for a lifetime, i don't think ill ever be able to move on from my gun and miyoung, and how much i wish i could find the romance they did (minus the pregnancy, thank u very much)!
