He will show what is real justice

What is this impenetrable line that holds the balance between justice and vengeance? What is the guarantee that the line forever exists? What happens when someone toes with the line? You know that a drama is intricately complex when it asks these types of questions. And as it may be, the audience may begin to ponder over these very questions, perhaps more as the drama moves along.

Vigilante tells the story of Kim Ji Young, a prospective police officer who adopts the identity of a Vigilante to punish those who have been let off lightly by the law, perpetrators who continue to commit crimes, in an attempt to provide a sense of safety to not only the victims of the crimes, but to the general public.

The drama is efficiently character driven, and there is not one character who is morally white or black, most of all our Vigilante. He is surrounded by characters with an equally ambiguous moral compass, a journalist who cares about ratings as much as the vigilante justice system, a vigilante fanboy who's values don't nearly line up with those of the actual vigilante, and a police officer who serves his own version of vigilantism to catch our dark hero.

When each character performs what they believe is right, a web of chaos is created wherein everyone has to now perfect unprecedented actions to achieve their goals. Beneath it all though, the leads have a common goal, the crux of it all: Justice. While their methods may differ, their morality may sway, they strive to protect the public by performing their own form of justice. This creates conflict and leads to confrontation between the characters where everything they believe in comes into question, until it finally bubbles up to create the complicated connections between the characters.

There were some interesting questions the drama asked, all the while blending it with the quintessential K Drama thriller vibes. Most importantly, the story was gripping and there were no scenes I would categorise as filler/unnecessary. I believe there is much more complexity to the story than they actually showed, sort of like barely scratching the surface, and it will be interesting to see the story play out as a result of Ji Young's state at the end of season 1. Overall, a very solid series in all aspects that I would highly recommend to those who want to get a glimpse of sweet, sweet justice.

This review may contain spoilers
I placed a potential spoiler at the end of this review.

This was an interesting, but slightly bizarre series. Overall, the script was not bad. It just felt a little underdeveloped and became dark at times (for me at least). I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but this is not really a BL series. However, this was not a problem for me. The main theme was how two individuals helped each other to come to terms with their past and look forward to the future.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******

Again, this is just my opinion. The only BL story element was there is a hint that one of Takashi’s classmates had a crush on him.

My main criticism is the ending was too ambiguous and a bit of a letdown.

absolute ROLLERCOASTER of emotions. love it

Such such a good show i'm actually so sad it's finished I wished I could've seen more of Ning Er and Xie Wei together. Absolutely AMAZING acting, I'm not even gonna lie originally I thought Zhang Linghe was justt a hottie and not all that skilled in acting but...boyyy am I SO wrong. Bro is TALENTED and he can seriously act. Zhang Linghe portrayed xie wei so amazing literally every emotion was conveyed so brilliantly through his eyes.....and lowkkk I love it when he has the crazy eyes ?. Bai lu never fails like u know girl will always come in clutch w her acting that's without a doubt. And the chemistry OMG, main leads chemistry is actually insane this shi needs to be studied. anywayy Side characters all did amazing too and the villains... well they sure are good at being villainy I'll say.
ANYWAYSS, highly recommend a watch do NOT miss out on this top TOP notch drama soo good I promise u will love, however get some tissues ready bc this is a rollercoaster, but a brilliant and thrilling rollercoaster.

A cute romance with no major conflict.

This is a type of GL series that you can watch again and again without skipping an episode, and still feel the same excitement.

Due to the office romance and boss-employee relationship, it’s understandable why this drama has drawn comparisons to the GAP series. But this series stands out in its own way. This drama is about searching for love and, by an odd chance, falling in love with someone you never expected. It captures the innocence emotions of young love.

The look and feel of this drama are light, fun, and pretty straightforward. Given that it’s just 5 episodes, it’s expected to be fast-paced, but I feel like the storyline is a bit rushed. I wish it could either stretch a little longer or written it more neatly, so that the plots could develop better, maybe by delving into why Khun Weala was afraid of love. That part seems to be hanging. The conflict is resolved too quickly, leaving no room for the audience to feel the tension. But nevertheless, each episode managed to make your heart flutter. Some romantic scenes are a bit cliché, but you kind of like them, especially in GL. Considering that this is Bmine and Near’s first series, I’d say it’s not bad at all. A lot can be improved, but there's nothing much to complain. They are a cute pairing on and off screen.

LIFE IS FULL OF SPECIAL AND MEANINGFUL ENCOUNTERS !!!

It just left me speechless !!! I want to try to pour all my love for this show but I'm short of words ??

This story had been told manytimes ,it's not something new but the beauty lies in the execution of this drama . screenplay ,performances ,music and notably cinematography were ideal and perfect !

I was witnessing the story that was happening infront of me for real .

NOTE: It is very simple ,ordinary and so real but that's life . some might find it repetitive and boring but for me it's one of those well made dramas which make you cry ,smile and root for the people in it . I repeat it's so perfect in every sense

I want to pour my love and can write like essays about it but right now I'm just numb and still tearing up ? cuz i just finished this

I don't know it make sense or not but I wanted to kill the FL's mother for real ??? .She literally spoiled her daughter's life with her own hands .Though she did that with good deed but yeah .
I better stop it here ..... I just love love love the leads ? :(

PERFECT EXAMPLE OF ''A BOOK SHOULDNT BE JUDGED BY ITS COVER''

WHAT DID I JUST WATCH!?!?!?
The drama should be renamed to ''Only for shit'' at this rate.I have got to ep 36 bareeely and completed bearing all this shit just for the sake of COMPLETING it cuz i had already come as far as to ep 29. & now i am here to vent my frustrations. The mffing phone is one of the main problems of this drama. Might as well keep it as a main lead cast. The disturbance is acceptable for one times ,two times,.. but when the phone KEEPS ON disturbing when the ml fl are having there ''moment'' It gets ffing annoying. It was annoying to the point i felt like throwing away my own phone down the road. The disturbance from third party was VERY frustrating.

like WHAT.THE.HELL.IS.GOING.ON!?!?! I kept watching and continuing hoping it would get better but it KEEEPS going downhill MORE & More & MoOoOre. I cant even defend for Bai Lu or Dylan here. The script was shit and thats a fact. All the people defending this drama, must stop. This drama doesn't deserve the defence at all. I understand if you admit you are biased but else, like nah bro, you are OBVIOUSLY lying if you rate this above 7.0.

about the acting, there was a lot of potential but with characters like ZSH and SY. Its always been like this in these CEO themed dramas. The cast is no doubt lit but the script makes everything else look shit & im not even kidding. This drama is a definition of ''worst scriptwriting''.

Plus the fact that this drama being almost 40 eps is like wtf to me!?!?! for what reason is this drama THAAT long??? for showing the most unnecessary sUspEnCe reveal?? for showing the most dragged out misunderstandings?? for showing the most abnormal side couples ever in a ffing drama? for showing the most uninteresting bussiness talks of all time which don't even connect to the story & have no connection to the development of plot??? what plot bro?? this drama seemed as if it was made by a psychotic person. The scriptwriter should be honored with the ''worst script writer of the year'' award for sure.

The side couples are so ffing messed up like dont even get me started on that. The player couple - Mr Guan Ji & Miss Bi Ruo Shan started off interesting but then their unstarted-relationship got dragged and dragged and dragged like the Shi Yan and Shu Yi's misunderstanding.

Also, Why did they make the ''uncle neice'' reveal such a BIG SuSpEnCe in this drama??Why? That was totally unnecessary imo. What was BRS's intention being so hot & cold with GJ when she ffing loved him. just WHY!?!WHATS YALLS PROBLEM!!! I felt on one go that they had SIZZLING chemistry but why did the scriptwriter did them so bad???

like AHhhhhh T-T I often felt like slapping BRS . like gworl??? focus on YOUR relationship and not your friends when you cant even put together with your own shit. You don't deserve to advise her. & also how dumb of our FL to ask HER for advises. She should have been the last person you should have asked for a relationship advice sis. Theres not even one normal couple here. I only found Guan Xiang & Tang Yi decent. For others, one word- shit.

The rating the drama currently is on i.e 7.8/10 is also high for this imo. People yall are way to generous. & Its prolly cuz of the cast, i understand but.. if you look at the big picture, this drama should be lower than that. Like what did i even sign up for & what did i get?? a full on piece of shit. The wait was for naught. Only thing that managed to kinda save it is the cast. If not for them, who would have bothered to watch this garbage??? 100% not recommended. If you rllyyyy wanna watch, then just watch the fmv guys...pls dont bother and get invested as it will only result to overwhelming frustrations. The only lil bit of satisfaction i got was from the pathetic romance from the latter part of the drama..from ep 30 onwards. Otherwise, The whole thing.. I wished i never watched this in the first place. Dont judge this drama by its looks, ladies and gents, for you will only end up with disappointment & more disappointment.

End of ranting
Signing off
Yours, Cheez Pizza

A "Dream" Not for the Faint Hearted

As a novel fan anticipating this drama, and waiting out those extra months for SoKP to air, I was worried at various points that this adaptation won't meet viewers' expectations. And whilst I felt that it started a tad slow, the momentum picked up and soon turned into a wild rollercoaster ride.

This isn't your typical palace love story. Therefore, you need to be ready for the heart-tugging tears, the constant bloodshed and the playing of your emotions as if you were a Chinese zither in Xie Wei's hands. Add in political palace intrigues and you have a story that keeps you wanting to watch on.

The storyline was always going to be solid. What took it to another level was the cast and their perfect articulation of their characters. Zhang Linghe's Xie Wei is a dark character that screams red flags, but you can't help rooting for him and Bai Lu's Jiang Xuening. They share so much in common and in essence, need each other to heal, to complete each other's lives.

A special mention needs to go to Wang Xinyue's Zhang Zhe. For the first half of the show, I wished that it would be a happy ending for him with JXN, all the whilst knowing it wouldn't be. I am hoping for a third collaboration between him and BL, where he finally gets the girl!

And most importantly, after so many c-drama's awful endings, SoKP gives us the perfect wrap-up. XW and his interactions with his children are one of the cutest scenes in C-drama history.

Watch the first half.

Main character has lost his memories and is being accused of crimes he didn't commit. Seen and done. But i gave it a chance(the cover convinced me).

The first episode sets really high expectations. The violence is brutal and has a lot of gore. What kind of disturbing things were going on there? The MC looks wild and animalistic. What made him like this? I was so intrigued. The plots twists were amazing though, had me grabbing my head.

The action scenes are very satisfying to watch. MC's walk did snatch some attention, it was bulky and... Idk kinda weird. I don't think he needed that much muscle as he had to do a ton of running and chasing.

NKM's acting was good as ever, though i found the dialogue delivery a little stiff and weird. Only his dialogues are overly dramatic and very cringe. I've seen a lot of kdramas but these dialogues still stood out to me, i think there is some writing error.

I love the theme song, it stuck with me and evokes a lot of emotion. I don't remember if there were any other songs and i think that says enough about it.

The only major thing The Veil failed with was the plot. In the first half, there's a ton of suspense and very little truth is revealed. It is made out to be this huge disturbing truth that will rip everyone's throat when revealed. Something so unexpected that it's unimaginable. But the second half totally falls flat and ruins all of that because guess what the sick truth is: Corruption. National politics. Just that. The murder reveals were interesting though, but it was definitely not enough for what they set the viewers up to.
The plot is so overly complicated that we only know who the Actual villain in this series is in the last two episodes. Multiple people are made out to be villains, only to be revealed later that it's someone else. Again. So many names, so many tiny subplots. I've seen complicated, but this one was a hot, incomprehensible mess.

The characters act like they're hiding the recipe for cancer. Something like

"you have no idea what's waiting for you. "

"do not go further, you can't face the truth. "

"Ji Hyuk, I... " *gets shot and dies*

No one had the braincells to talk like a normal person. Throwing riddles left and right. No one would tell him ANYTHING. And tell me why everyone in that agency was lowkey working for sangmuhoe. Everyone is corrupt. And that's literally the whole truth.

And the climax? Long lost father returns as a deadly criminal amd his daughter tries to fix him with the power of love. plays his favourite song. Puts herself in danger to see if he will harm his daughter. And somehow, the most feared man's heart melts. B*TCH HE'S THE MOST NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL EVER, THIS AIN'T A MELODRAMA.

I enjoyed the first half a lot. The rest was disappointing af.

Disappointing fanservice

At the beginning I liked sokp much better and thought it was gonna be one of the best drama this year, but it turned out as a mediocre fanservice/wattapad for teens with dark fantasies. The breakup with ZZ felt forced and unnatural how can such a thing not be resolved by communication, it was not believable at all and I wish they stuck with the way the novel made them break up instead but they wanted to rush things probably pressured by fans that wanted the Xie arc, unfortunately that led to my discontent with Xie and what made matters worse is how bad his arc is turning to be forced kiss, forceful grabbing of hands and neck(wtf) forced kiss, overbearing and disrespectful that doesn't really respect jxn and treats her as a young girl that is his student another major eye roll as I am not into teacher/student type of romance its Hella creepy and disgusting.. I wish we can grow out of this weird fase where it's okay for a romance like this to happen in the first place. Unfortunately because of the reason mention the latest episodes began to drag a lot and what was a solid 9 drama became a 7 then a 4.. I felt like something was missing from the intrigue and like that it lost its appeal. Ps all that chocking was so cringe.. Felt like a bad version of 50 shades of Grey

Over a bowl of hot soup, let's warm our souls and heal our hearts

Watching this miniseries was like getting a hug. Stories about people healing and finding new purpose in life over good food always holds a special spot for me, and this was no different.

Meen and Jeng go through this journey after Meen breaks up with his, for the lack of better words, POS ex boyfriend, and after a few fights and arguments, they find common ground over Jeng's signature dish. With each bowl they share, they flirt and they fight, and they start to figure out that there's something there. The story could have been developed way better with more episodes, there is the notion of wanting to pack an emotional punch and provide proper backstories and emotional arcs for the characters, but it's hard to do with 2 episodes.

Nevertheless, there was definitely a lot of special things about these episodes, and the prospect of the two of building a loving relationship after a few hardships and just a few days together really solidified the depth of their bond. A beautiful story

If you haven't seen the ending, don't read this

Well the drama wasn't that great, but I also can't say it was bad ...
I watched this drama primarily for Leo ،
His work has always been very wonderful, and I like his acting, as well as his beautiful and gentle appearance However, for the first time, I did not like a drama he was acting in!
Perhaps many will object to my opinions ...but I did not find any compatibility between Leo and the The girl who was with him ، I felt that there were no feelings!! , and I was not affected by anything.
I don't know if this was the case only with me, but I also felt that it was very boring to have 34 episodes. This is too much for the events.
I feel like this drama should be about Huntington's disease only, not about love !
Because I never saw love, well don't tell me that only a kiss represent love? In addition, why were the events not explained in the last episode? I didn’t even know whether the girl carrying the disease was still alive or dead.
Although Leo saw her, they did not clarify whether this was a real? of his imagination? , except that he was very sad before giving the speech , and even after seeing her, I did not see happiness on his face?!
This is the first time I don't like one of Leo's dramas!
who agrees with me ???
thank you for reading !

Immersive Narratives and Flawless Portrayals: 'Story of Kunning Palace' Delivers

What struck me most about the series was the undeniable chemistry between the main leads, creating a captivating dynamic that held my attention from start to finish.

Zhang Ling He's portrayal of Xie Wei was nothing short of phenomenal. His ability to convey the complexity of his character, from childhood trauma to the intricacies of mental health issues, was done with a finesse that left a lasting impression. His eyes, in particular, became a powerful tool in expressing the depths of a man in love. Bai Lu, as the female lead, equally delivered a commendable performance, carrying herself with grace and skill throughout the series.

The storyline itself was a rollercoaster of emotions, with each episode presenting something new and intriguing. I found myself hooked, eagerly anticipating the next twist or revelation. It's rare to come across a show that keeps you engaged at every turn, and "Story of Kunning Palace" achieved just that. While the editing could have been polished in certain scenes, the compelling narrative and stellar performances by the cast overshadowed any minor shortcomings.

The power-packed storytelling and the actors' prowess managed to seamlessly compensate for any editing hiccups, ensuring a consistently enthralling viewing experience. In my opinion, "Story of Kunning Palace" stands out as one of the best dramas of 2023. The recommendation for this series as a must-watch is resounding. The thought of these talented actors gracing the screen together again is enticing, and I can't help but express a desire to see them in a modern drama, exploring a different setting and dynamic.

"Story of Kunning Palace" is a triumph in storytelling, character development, and on-screen chemistry. It has certainly set a high standard for dramas in 2023, leaving viewers like me eagerly anticipating future projects from the brilliant cast and crew.

Perfect combination of Politics, romance and my ever favourite trope-TIME TRAVEL

Usually I can never get myself to complete any drama with a lot of politics. But this one had me hooked from the start to the very last episode. The six month wait after it's initial declaration was absolutely worth it.

The drama focuses on Jiang Xuening, who gets a chance to REDO her mistakes while further exploring her efforts, her relationships with the various characters.

Our Queen, Bai Lu, as usual never disappoints us and gave us yet another ground breaking performance thereby showing her versatility as a scheming empress(1st life) and as Ning'er(2nd life).
As for our ML, it was his second drama I watched with him as ML- the first being My journey to you, and the contrast between the characters he played shows his versatile acting skills. It's not easy to play a grey area character like Xie Wei and now i don't think anyone could have played this role as good as Zhang Linghe. The chemistry between the leads had me squealing at all times. Xie Wei's character screams- "a hero will sacrifice u for the world but a villain would sacrifice the whole world for you." especially with his dialogue-" Neither my qin, my revenge, nothing in this world compares to her." and Zhang Linghe portrays it exceptionally well.

Zhang Zhe may be the best person but Xie Wei was the most suitable one for Ning'er.

The OSTs especially the one by Zhou Shen, had my heart from the beginning.
A mix of various genres.... I would definitely recommend this to every cdrama lover!!!!!!!
No doubt one of the best chinese dramas of 2023 !!!!!

This is the Best Chinese Drama of 2023 for Me!!

I love everything about the drama!!! The directors were able to pieces this drama together very well despite ending with 38 episodes. I did wish it was longer because it was too good for it to end early.

I love all the main casts because everyone did their part very well especially Bailu and Zhang Ling He. I’m a huge fan of both actor and actress. I am very happy that I was able to see these two worked together!!! ( q v q )

I want to thank all the casts, directors and staffs for the beautiful drama. It’s been awhile since I have fully watch through a drama without being bored. Thank you for that!

Also, I’ve enjoyed watching this drama with my fellow watchers. Thank you for the great jokes and laughters. You guys are the real MVP for posting and sharing links relating to SOKP. :D

Supper excited story! Daebak!

Everything is unique and perfectly amalgorated! Storyline, thrill, emotional content, and most important intense emotional acting.
The synopsis of the story may sound quite absurd, but being out-of-this world is what makes it a fantasy right? I was utterly impressed by how the writer managed to create a rich fantasy world of demon, humans and ghosts — each with their own unique abilities and quirks. I thought the imaginary world she created was on par with the likes of Twilight or other famous fantasy stories from the West. I remember scriptwriter saying something to the effect of wanting to write a fantasy story that was uniquely Korean to rival those produced in the West. It was thus an ingenious move of her to center the story on a mythical being unique to Korean folklore that has not been featured much in dramas or movies. Not only does this present a great opportunity for her to deliver fresh content, it is also a chance to introduce a little known aspect of Korean folklore to an international audience. This drama piqued my interest and led me to read up more on kpop — although they are referred to as “Demons” in English, they have entirely different characteristics from the demon we know in Harry Potter and other stories from the west.
