How did the director mess up such a good story? Bests me and beats the score

‼️A super lengthy review‼️

I mean how hard can it be to make a series. I know it is a very difficult task but you have a well laid out story, and great actors so how can someone mess this up so badly.

I had a lot of expectations with this one but it was a total let down. There is a way of connecting to your viewers but pulling emotional cards is definitely not the way. Too many emotional cliches only bore the audience.

The way the director and the writers have carried this out is totally wrong and boring. It has so many cliches that it is reminding me of the heirs. The original story was pretty firm and nice so I don’t get why they changed the complete story for cliches.

Ji Won is not coming out as a strong character nor is Su Min coming out as a villain. Su Min feels like a character dead set on coveting the ML in manhwas who are always idiotic and annoying.

Tbh this series could have done very well on so many grounds but the story is disappointing. I was bearing with it but after I saw the fiancé/ ex gf cliche I was so done. And what’s up with the self sacrifice ? I am not watching an army movie that I will see self sacrifice.
How did the man survive the truck only god knows.

The ost is nothing great too. Nothing that will make me you know want to sit and enjoy the songs it’s just normal. And for some reason no matter how I try I cannot see the Chemistry between those too. Oh also the sponsor placing is way too obvious and it is almost hilarious.

Disappointed ...

The storyline started off strong in the first few episodes. But with the character if BoA coming in,it has sadly veered so far off course. This observation was also noted by some netizens as well.

Everything just feels off right now. I cannot comprehend why the FL's fate has transferred to co-worker Yang. This considering that she isn't even considered as a main character in the story. It would have been more realistic if the second lead was the one experiencing this series of bad luck situations

Park Min Young's acting has also turned into something so predictable. Na In Woo can definitely fit into the role of a ML given the right script. He has the height and build for it. I enjoyed Lee Yi Kyung's character because he does provide a bit of a comedic relief despite being a shady character. If anything, he and Song ha Yoon have proven that they can steal the show. They both delivered their characters superbly. Being a hateful villain for me is a testament of a great actor....

Anyway.... 2 episodes to go and I will be done with this....

A little disapointed!

I've read the webtoon and i loved it so i was expecting more from the drama but sadly...
they changed too much.. the acting was good of course. i know all the actors... but really they didnt do what it had to be done with the story i mean.
they took out scenes that were important, they changed the timeline of the events, they even changed the personality of some characters... they put in drama that was not necessary and not in the webtoon...if i say more i'll basically spoil the whole drama...I am gonna watch til the end the drama but that is not gonna change my point of view sadly.
i understand that some stuff are not gonna be the same but this is too much in my opinion.
what should i say... disapointed.

Healing Revenge : Marry My Huband leaves you craving for more.

This drama is not just about returning to the past and getting revenge on those who wronged you, instead, it combines healing yourself, finding yourself, and romance alongside with revenge.

While watching this drama, you will not find yourself bored, instead watching with anticipation of what's going to happen because it gives you QUALITY with literally everything! ~ the dialogues, the makeover, the romance, revenge, and healing!

This drama uses a classic revenge plot, everything has been done before, yet it is done in a manner where that does not feel annoying or repetitive, you can expect to see common things like:
- FL & ML who goes back to the past ✅
- Fl gets revenge on the people who were close to her ✅
- truly shameless ex-boyfriend and best friend ✅
- Rich Ml who has loved the FL for a long time✅

- Acting: The actors did an amazing job of portraying the characters so that you can feel their emotions; the shameless boyfriend and ex-best friend will make your blood boil and want to scratch their eyes out... I want to go inside the screen and slap both of them. They made me so mad!! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ )
p.s: The best acting reward goes to: THE CUTEST ORANGE CAT! (so adorable!!)

- Plot: Although nothing about the plot is new and the themes are common, the drama does a good job of making its twists and turns to keep the watchers engaged. The revenge is so satisfying and the romance between the leads grows as well as their character development. FL slowly and steadily became strong with the male leads' support to get revenge and get back at them.

- Music: Honestly, I do not remember a single song they used as it blended into the background a little too well, and it was not overall impactful. However, there were these scenes where they used BTS songs for a big moment! And it was very unique and cute!!

At this point, if you haven't watched it, I going to come to kidnap you and make you watch! So give it a chance ^^

My thoughts on the show

I think the show started off well with a lot of promise at the beginning, but sadly, it lost its steam somewhere in the middle for me when they dragged out the 'revenge' plot for as long as they could, and it probably got even worse towards the end when they unnecessarily introduced a last-minute villain in the form of Yura. The acting was great, though, especially the main antagonists, Park Minhwan and Jung Soomin. To be honest, in some ways, I felt like I continued watching just for them. The romance was so-so. It's a situation where, on paper, it would've been cute, but watching it, it just felt bland. It's the type of romance where I wouldn't care if they get together or not. But it could just be due to poor execution. They do have some chemistry, but I find Jihyuk (the male lead) to be a pretty bland character overall. But at least it has a satisfactory ending, with all ends tied up nicely for the main leads.

read the webtoon instead. TRUST ME

I read the webtoon a couple of days before this drama ended. I watch series once they're done so that I can binge them, that's why the original story was VERY fresh in my mind when I started watching MMH.

At the beginning the series was pretty okay. I was curious; I laughed some. The FL's husband had a great balance between 'evil' and hilarious even if it wasn't how his character was portrayed in the webtoon. He did great overall, and I like him as a comedian and person in general.

The ML was a problem for me even before starting. I don't like his acting. I don't like his 'image' or the energy he proyects when acting. He was a bad match for this character. There, I said it. He had no nuance, no 'mystery'. He was a plain piece of bread. No depth. No flavour. I had absolutley NO curiosity about who he was or what his true intentions were, totally opposite of how I felt in the webtoon. There was ZERO chemistry between him and the FL. That is saying A LOT since PMY is an AMAZING actress and has AMAZING chemistry with her co-stars. She goes all out. Every. Time. I love all her dramas. She is trully a magnificent performer. I could see how hard she was trying to carry her co-star. I carried though from ep.10 almost purely out of loyalty to her. I skipped through scenes from ep.14, I was bored out of my mind.

Now. About the plot changes. Some were okay, they changed the order of some things and the dates as well (I asume to make the actor's ages more credible). The addition of that certain new female character was completely unecessary and uncalled for. The only explanation for it I can come up with is that they wanted to have a 16 ep. drama and couldn't find a way to fill the run time without bringing some nonsense into the mix. The webtoon is pretty crazy and ridiculous in the things these people do to take revenge, however the new mayor plot change towards the last 3rd of the series simply cheapened the show. A true shame.

Somehow, this show removed the suspense and intrigue of the story. I don't know how that's posible. I really don't think it had anything to do with the fact that I already 'knew the story'. Even with the changes they made it was somehow predictable and executed half heartedly. In the webtoon I remember feeling true fear for Su-mins character. She is CRAZY. Like bat-sh*t crazy. And I could feel it in my SOUL. The actress did great in the first half of the show but her intensity slowly diminished as the story went on (I think it was the writting that changed her direction). She didn't feel crazy anymore, she just looked loud and obsessed. Don't know if I got my thoughts across properly there but that gives you an idea.

I just wouldn't watch this show. If I could go back to my past self from a couple days ago, I would simply tell her to enjoy the Webtoon and cherish it because that's as good as it's going to get. The chemistry is palpable in the webtoon, I couldn't stop scrolling!!! I even bought coins to read it all in one day!! That's how good it is.
This show on the other hand, was not.

Marry My Husband was another drama I hoped would become a favorite that just didn't even come close to the mark.
Oh well, off to search for something new. Still a few weeks away form Captivating the king, Branding in Seonsu, and Doctor Slump!

Good stakes for a time travel revenge drama

Just watched episode 1 and will update when I've finished the drama.

Wanted to note that in the first episode the drama does one thing immediately better than most time travel dramas in this Melo romance genre: it creates stakes.

If the female lead (Park Minyoung) changes something about her fate then it happens to someone else. If it doesn't transfer to someone else then it will definitely happen to her. So every action is balanced.

This lends a tightness to the story I wasn't expecting.

Not my cup of tea

As a fan of the webtoon, the webtoon ofc establishes the characters and their motivations much more clearly and in a timeline that makes more sense. I haven't read the web novel so I'm not sure how much they pulled from there vs the webtoon. But I'm honestly unsatisfied with the changes they've made to the story at least from what I've read and known from the webtoon. It feels like they watered down a perfectly good plot and characters into something much more generic. Like the source material was great, handed to them on a silver platter, and they chose to make unnecessary changes like adding in this rival (Yura) for Jiwon, watering down Jiwon's character into someone much less resolute or ruthless with her desire to really take the reins back on her life, involving Eunho much more than needed to in order to exacerbate the "love triangle", taking away the accomplishments of the other FLs such as Juran and putting them all on Jiwon instead, etc.

It just sucks because it's honestly a nice empowering narrative of independence and confidence in yourself and your choices, while also still sharing a message of the power in not being alone and being able to truly depend and have people who actually care for you. But all this was kinda watered down into a generic revenge plot.

A positive I can take away from this kdrama though is that the portrayals of the villains was perfection, Song Ha-Yoon and Lee Yi-Kyung deserves a lot of credit and recognition. All that said, while I highly recommend the webtoon, the kdrama might be a hit or miss especially if you're watching this coming from the webtoon.

Ep1

I've finished watching the episode and I can only say good words, the acting is very realistic, both actors have chemistry and I hope we don't have a love threesome. This is my first kdrama in 2024 and a best choose.

There are some scenes very hard but it the true, not a pink life. I want to listen the BSO but is very early because it’s the first ep.

I think it can be one of the best kdramas of this year, we're still starting but the premiere has been good.

We're going to see revenge and lots of self-love. I LOVE IT.

Tried to extend my patience to this show but eventually dropped it. They changed too many plot points from the webtoon and totally ruined the plot (especially the truck scene because wtf was that!!!). Not only that, the leads totally have no chemistry at all, and the FL actress doesn't have the spunk and fierceness that the FL has in the webtoon. The only saving grace for me of this show is the actress who played the sister of the ML, who has the similar sunny and protective personality as the one in the webtoon. Kinda wished that the budgeting of this show went to the budgeting of Perfect Marriage Revenge instead because that show has more potential if they had the same budgeting and marketing MMH has.

This was fun

Finally a drama about bad parents, bad spouses, bad friendships, and a hint of divorce is no only necessary but may save a persons life... Done kind of odd. As this drama mixes a bunch of my beloved clices ads a moment of confusion interesting twists (some more predictable than others) and mote or less enjoyable characters.

The good ones may do questionable things but are so good they make you cringe at times.... The villains are so evil it is hard to feel for them. That said they did make it very clear how difficult it can be to break loose...

Even while knowing the ending... fighting back agains those close does take its tool.

That said there are several parts in this drama that made me go :Oh come on... and oh no shi***.... As some twists could be sensed a 14 episodes in advance.

This is not a. masterpiece but a fun watch for those who can appreciate a man who can wait, wrist grabs, evil, gaslighting and a different twist to the secound chance go back in time romance.

Interesting premise, decent execution despite a few shortcomings, overall a satisfying watch

SPOILERS
The premise is interesting but also tricky to execute well, and I think for the most part it was very well executed.
I really like the characterization of all of them, but especially Jiwon - she's kind, but not a Mary Sue. It's a little understated what passing on her fate to Sumin actually entails - it's not just "if you want Minhwan so bad you can marry him", she's actively trying to make sure this woman dies instead of her. Not that it's a bad thing, it's fair enough considering Sumin was so eager to see her die, but it makes it clear that Jiwon is not altruistic, her kindness has boundaries and this is reinforced over and over - if someone screws her over, she has no hesitation to screw them over in return.
Jihyuk feels a bit like there's not much to him beyond him being in love with Jiwon, but well he is her allowance so I guess he gets a pass?
Slowly unravelling the many ways in which Sumin has constantly manipulated Jiwon and the people around her to make her life difficult makes it all the more cathartic when she gets her payback.
I really appreciated the direction it seemed to be heading in after Sumin and Minhwan get married, with Jiwon thinking that she has successfully passed on her fate to Sumin but realizing that it's more complicated than that when her situation ends up mirrored to someone she is close to instead. Juran being at the risk of dying better contextualizes what passing on her fate really means and reminds us that fate is not that straightforward and manipulable. It would have significantly weakened the plot if Sumin marrying Minhwan was all it took for Jiwon's fate to be transferred to Sumin. While they did carry this arc to a decent conclusion, I wish they had focused on it more.
I do have a few gripes, mostly with the later episodes. The pacing and structure was pretty good in the first 11 episodes, and then it seemed to devolve into utter chaos. The stakes dramatically went from 0 to 100, while the plot derailed into something overdone and predictable.
Did we really need Oh Yura? She serves a purpose, not just as the one to put things into motion and then take Jihyuk's fate in the end, but also as a way to balance Jihyuk's all-powerful protagonist with an all-powerful antagonist. On the other hand, I've never liked this archetype and she felt even more unnecessary in this story. Her introduction and the escalation she caused felt like a detraction from story that had been set up through the 11 episodes before, and frankly a natural escalation from the events and characters that were already set up would have felt a lot less jarring. The final episode manages to get back on track and give a good balance of action and emotions as well as satisfyingly tie up all the loose ends, which makes up for a lot of the issues I had.
I like that it's Minhwan who gets Jiwon's fate, that after terrorizing and trying to kill the women he had power over multiple times in both lives, he's the one who ends up dead at one such woman's hands. This also means that Sumin gets to live - and be miserable as she watches Jiwon be happy and be unable to do anything about it. For her, this is a fate worse than death. Yura felt too much like a cartoon villain for her life or death to provide any emotional value, she needed to be dead because of the danger she posed and so she had to die - and she took Jihyuk's fate while she was at it and finally made herself useful.
This is a bit nitpicky, but it bothers me that the things that were set to happen over the course of 10 years ended up happening in a few months time. Obviously, they can't stretch it out for 10 years, but it might've been better to go for a more reasonable time frame to begin with, like 2 or 3 years at most. The premise is that things that are destined to happen will happen anyway, and you can only change who it happens to. To some extent it makes sense that their interference may accelerate some events, but it felt like one plot point too many getting preponed by years, especially Juran getting Jiwon's fate 10 years in advance. It also felt a little funny to see the bag and heels ten years before they were originally bought - which would mean that in the original timeline they were outdated by a decade and not nearly as expensive and trendy as they were supposed to be.
Overall, I think the show hit the mark. It has it's shortcomings but they don't hold it back from being a satisfying watch with many powerful and cathartic moments. It's also important to mention the lighthearted and heartwarming moments of friendship, family and romance interspersed in between to balance it out. All of the cast were amazing, and Song Hayoon and Lee Yikyung especially deserve their flowers for playing the antagonists so well. Park Minyoung, as usual, knocked it out of the park. All in all, a good watch.
