First of all: It is an entertaining drama. It is worth watching, but it is not stellar.
What surprised me, was that I actually expected (naive of me, I guess), a drama
with lots of military stuff and seriousness.
But it is a total CHICK FLIC :D
This drama gets very cheezy at some points in a weird way, maybe because it
tries to mix romance with serious topics.
The best part about this drama is the humour - it is realistic in a way I am not used to
in K-dramas, I really enjoyed the pranks and funny interactions between the characters
and soldiers. It portrayed humour like everyday people could actually have it.
It was entertaining and I am happy that I watched it. Maybe I will revisit the funny scenes at some
point :)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
When I first heard about DOTS, I immediately watch it right away because I saw on my SNS accounts that Song Joongki is the lead and I miss him so much in dramas because he enlisted on 2013 and he just came back from army. He is also my ultimate k-actor Oppa because he is cute, charming and handsome at the same time <3 I also noticed when I was watching the first episode that Song Hye Kyo is the female lead and she's an ageless beauty and also one of my favorite korean actresses. I wasn't really hooked on the first episode because as I've said earlier that I only watch it because of Song Joongki but I got hooked on the 3rd episode because I understand what the story is.
ON THE CHARACTERS
Song Joongki as Captain Yoo Si Jin/Big Boss - I REALLY LOVE BIG BOSS! <3 Big Boss for me is an eye candy for this drama because how a soldier can be handsome at the same time?! <3 I also like the way he jokes to Kang Mo Yeon. He's one of my favorite male lead because he is playful and brave. Song Joongki's portrayal as Yoo Si Jin. He really fits this role <3
Song Hye Kyo as Dr. Kang Mo Yeon/Beauty - I am amaze on her character as a doctor. Though what I didn't like at her was she is hiding her feelings for Yoo Si Jin :|
JinGoo as Sergeant Major Seo Dae Young/Wolf - I love the bromance with him and Big Boss <3 I like Jingoo's portrayal as Seo Dae Young and he is also handsome even though he has a tan skin <3
Kim Jiwon as Lieutenant Yoon Myeong Joo - Idk why but I like Yoon Myeong Joo than Kang Mo Yeon though I love Kim Jiwon here than her other roles like The Heirs, SHE'S ALSO PRETTY! <3
TEAM ALPHA - SQUAD GOALS! <3
OVERALL PLOT/STORYLINE OF THE DRAMA
As I've said on the first line, it is one of k-dramas that has a unique storyline. No Love Triangle, no rich guy-poor girl who fall inlove, no identity switch, etc. For me, this k-drama is a mature one that teaches us about our profession or our jobs in life. All the feels are here in this k-drama.
MORAL LESSON OF THE DRAMA
It's just simple. Love for the country regardless of nationality, race, gender and religion and also we must balance our priorities in life especially in our work or school works.
10/10. MY #1 FAVORITE K-DRAMA(ALSO BRIDAL MASK). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I agree, Song Joong Ki & Song Hye Kyo act very well. Song Joong Ki is very beautiful and his charisma smiles me throughout the drama. I have not yet watched a drama with this actor and, trust me, I will quickly watch Innocent Man ! In addition to his insolence beauty, it is the tongue-in-cheek replies with his partner Song Hye Kyo which please me. This couple releases something which differentiate them from others couples. Evident complicity. Okay, it works well.
Speaking about landscapes..
I think it is my first drama where landscapes have a significant impact on the overall assessment. Landscapes are beautiful and make a statement to the drama.
Story
Story is the weakness of Dots. Although, the first episodes are very well : Army topic, a wonderful love story between a doctor and a soldier, secondary actors who play correctly…. Dots had all the tools to be a wonderful drama.. But the script became “what the fuck” with the earthquake … In fact, if we analyze Dots we notice that there is no story at all ! Only a love story in a foreign country.
To conclude, if you want to watch a drama with a robust script, go on your way, but if you are fan of Song Joong Ki you will not be disappointed.

Story: The beginning of the series was definitely interesting. It was somewhat predictable, but overall still an interesting watch. The different stories that occur throughout were all again things that could be assumed and there was nothing about the show that really blew my mind. The actual ending scene was entertaining, but overall the last few episodes just felt weirdly paced and I felt more like the ending of the plot a few episodes till the end should have been the correct ending.
Characters/Casting: This is where the show gets the most points. The four main actors, specifically Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki were absolutely amazing in my opinion. The chemistry between them was literally radiant and I love the humor that they each share. While I haven't watched a ton of newer K-Dramas, the relationship between the two and the way that they joked with each other seemed like a fresh type of personality for asian dramas. This obviously leans into the script, but the somewhat sarcastic and light hearted way that the two joked with each other was captivating to me.
Overall: I'm more of a fan of Chinese dramas for the most part, so it's rare for me to want to rematch K-Dramas (though I've rewatched a few). I wouldn't put this on my list of have to rewatch shows, but in a few months or a year or so, I wouldn't be opposed to rewatching.

A bit disappointing
So I started this drama because of the ML after watching him in Vincenzo, (totally wrong reason I know) but hey.I especially liked the whole shirtless scenes of the guys in uniform (yes girl here is sucker for a man in uniform)!!! and the whole sweat scenes, but after getting over all of that, this drama started to drag on, the FL was a bit annoying, the idea of this character being an outspoken female doctor who cares deeply about her patients, coworkers, and boyfriend was fantastic, but the actor's performance was not convincing. Rather than all of the positive aspects of her character that I mentioned, this actress's performance made the character come across as petulant in a way.
I knew the actors who played these roles were together after some research so i though i would have witnessed the love grow and see how they fell for each other, I did have high hopes for their chemistry, but I was disappointed yet again. but their relationship growth was quite complicated, and I believe it was due to a lot of going back and forth in the relationship.
The ML was not so bad, but the cheesy lines were putting off at times.

This drama isn't overrated
So, I've read a lot of comments saying this drama is overrated and complaining about the storyline being too "boring". Now, this mihgt be my opinion but I honestly feel like this is one of the best dramas that has ever existed and if you and if you generally aren't into k-dramas that much, trust me, you'll find yourself hooked on this. This is very different from usual k-dramas, you don't find a k-drama talking about war, featuring blood or focusing on action as a genre in general.
The plot was amazing, k-dramas usually drag it so much you inevitably get bored at some point and end up skipping some parts of the show if not dropping it all together. Descendants of the Sun maintains a costant pace and not even a second could be considered boring as it's always filled with hooking moments and suspence which makes you wants to keep on watching the show even more.
As I was watching this series I took a moment to analyze the acting and if I told you that I got shocked... These are probably some of the best actors I've ever seen in k-dramas or dramas in general. They usually do too much and it always gets cringy at some point, mainly because of the female lead who just cries way too much or is simply annoying. And I'm not sorry for saying so because in my opinion, most dramas have always got the same damn plot. (Female lead bumps into male lead, love at first sight for the fl, she starts pursuing the ml, she cries at least 3 times in every single episode, at the end they get together and it's so cringe cause it's so unrealistic and they are just overdoing it too much with the acting). You can see that in Dots the chemistry between the fl and ml is pretty strong and you find yourself also hooked on the love story between the side characters. You find yourself in unison with the actors and you can clearly feel every emotion through their expressions.
The music is nothing else but perfect. When romantic scenes appear the music just fits so well, you find yourself smiling at the screen. And some of you might find those romantic scenes a little bit too cheesy but I don't think so. I like the fact that the ml and fl are straightforward with their feelings and the fact that their conversations are always full of inside jokes and humor makes the moment pretty cute and not tooth rotting.
If you are not that much of a fan of romance like me and are easy to cringe, I don't think this drama is going to be a problem for you and you'll find yourself enjoying it and actually feeling sad once it's over. You'll find yourself admiring the directing and longing for more cute convo scenes between the characters. Also, the English in this drama is literally perfect and before you starts judging you should remember that they are not native speakers, so if you feel like they are stretching way too much the words, they are really not. I had no problem understanding them and I really admire them for those English scenes.
I really recommend Dots and I didn't really know about he existence of the ml before, but after Song Joong ki's killer smile and blubby persona in the first episode, you can't really back out from the series anymore.
