I was a completely loyal shipper of the main couples who were intended to be together in the end.
But by the time episode 10 rolled around, nothing was getting even close to resolved, the relationships–romantic AND platonic–really felt like they were going absolutely nowhere but down. Too much damage kept getting dealt with zero retribution in sight. Then thing were suddenly rushed in the last 5 minutes of the show. Literally, the last. five. minutes. My only thoughts: WHY. Why pull a fast one on the viewers like that and just brush everything under the rug like it didn't exist?
Characters would do the most asinine things with absolutely no reason and given not even a slap on the wrist for their wrongdoings.
The lead girl was so goddamn stupid and immature at times that it drove me crazy. I felt like she was channeling the spirit of an 8 year old girl, not someone in university.
The second female lead was a total mess from start to finish. She'd come on screen and I'd resist the urge to throw my laptop across the room. Just the most ridiculous, unrealistic, ass backwards kind of person. I haven't seen a single good comment about her. Not to mention, her copious amounts of hypocrisy and bullshit made her nothing short of undesirable.
The 2 guys were pretty alright, also pretty idiotic at times. Nice eye candy, but didn't really provide much else besides that. But hey, this is a university drama. I guess you can't expect much more. Vapid lead characters? Check. Nonsensical plot devices? Check. Unresolved issues that are conveniently forgotten like everyone suffered an extreme case of amnesia? Check and check.
Sure, the show ended positively, which was nice. We all want a cute happily ever after with these rom-coms.
But if you're someone who dislikes unresolved issues, unnecessary amounts of over-the-top, immature drama, and inconsistencies within the plot and characters, this might not be the show for you. Just my two cents.
Pros: I think the cast was strong on all fronts from the core 4, to their friends, to the villains, and the extras.
While Fon's Smile did get a little annoying at times, she had a tenderness that you couldn't help but love her.
The chemistry between Mond and Fon was off the charts. I could do with them being a go-to couple.
Cons: The Boy For Rent concept could have been expanded on more. We know that Kyro is part owner so then why does he work and not just get profits? Also, Badz having to work there for his sister was a good plot but it was weakened by the quick explanation. Kyro and Liz had family issues related to the plot but they were much better executed.
Overall: Smile and Badz were the better couple but Liz and Kyro were the more fleshed out characters.
