Made my heart thump from the powerful style of this show!

I was expecting Queen In Hyun's Man to be very similar to Rooftop Prince, but I was pleasantly surprised. The theme is the same, time-warping from Joseon era to modern day Seoul, but the story line is different, and I hope people see that before they call Queen In Hyun's Man a copycat. Give both of the dramas credit, guise. Getting back on track - just watching the first episode made me so excited - because of the style! Oh, the style is wonderful. I had heard lots of good things about the director Kim Byung Soo (Vampire Prosecutor) and I am absolutely impressed.

As for the actors I am really looking forward to, especially Ji Hyun Woo. I don't think anyone really gives him any credit and judged by how Thousand Kisses went(most of us knows how that went). When I watched it I was mostly excited about him, although I hadn't seen any other of his works, I think he brought more to the plate and did it well until the script writer turned a potentially good story into something not worth watching.

Considering the first episode, I believe it is one of the best "first episodes" I have seen in a while!

Interesting....

I obviously don't know what to make of this yet, but it looks promising, I'll continue watching it to see what happens. I love the female lead because she's different, or at least I think so :)

Nice start...

The only similarity this has with Rooftop Prince so far is the the time travel theme. This is set during the years of King SukJong's reign (real king figure in Korean history.) I think I might like it it. I loved the story from when I watched Dong Yi.

Stylish

I like the fusion of styles here. The photography is different from the past to the present, hence conferring the two ages a completely different feel. I particularly appreciate some sepia scenes, which make them look like an aged picture.
And towards the characters it's immediate liking. She has her head in the clouds, but isn't dumb, or whiny. He's smart and sober, perfectly equipped to deal with such a surreal situation.
The evil characters are theatrical, clear cut, so that one can completely suspend empathy and enjoy whatever the fate has in store for them.

Doesn't Make a Splash Yet

It didn't bore me but it didn't impress me either. I am curious about the main characters and how thier romance will play out. I already like In Na's character.

Not a bad start

The first episode of most dramas rarely pulls me in and this was no different with QIHM. It's not because anything stuck out to me as bad, but because first episodes are always set up episodes that you have endure before the real drama begins. I'm excited to see how this fusion of modern and ancient times unfolds. I didn't like the half-assed fighting scenes in the beginning. I think they could have done a better job with the choreography & show us some real fancy marital arts. I want to keep watching, though, because I anticipate things will get better. Great set up of the main characters. You got a good sense of who they are as people, esp the heroine. I'm not really a fan of the actor who plays the hero (I'm sorry but I find him unattractive), but the heroine seems likable and quirky so I'm curious to see how things go.

Skip this episode and start with the second....

The rest of this drama is well worth the watch!!! The 3 rating is ONLY for the first episode. The remarks in parenthesis were written right after I watched ONLY the first episode. (This is the second time I've tried to start this drama. I do NOT like the way the episode was edited was stylized. The beginning sequence was dark, unnecessary, and confusing. When they go to modern day... I would absolutely LOVE to watch Korean drama all the way through without the main character breaking her shoe at a critical moment! Are shoes there THAT cheap? I'm still gonna plug through this and hope it's worth it...) PLEASE... either skip the first episode or suffer through it cuz the rest is worth it!!!

Quite good

I don't have a certain oppinion about this yet, as it's the first episode.
The first part (in the past) was a bit confusing, but it might be due to myself, because all these characters and the storyline were just a bit foreign to me. I think this problem will solve as I continue watching or as I rewatch this part carefully.
But It wasn't boring for sure. Quite interesing seemed but I have no idea what to expect.. How this story is going to evolve?
I'll watch the second episode, may be then I'll have a better view about all this.
Anyway for now I continue to watch it..

8/10

My 1st thought, like many others, was that it would be like Rooftop Prince: a man traveling 300+ yrs into modern day Seoul and finding someone who resembles someone he use to know.
The beginning was confusing for me, but after 10-15 minutes, I understood it.
I really liked the fighting scenes and found them to be impressive.
Yoo In Na is pretty, and something about her voice is cute ^^ I'll be looking forward to watching more of this drama.

a decent start

I can't say Ji Hyun Woo is my favorite actor but I think Yoo In Na will more than make up for that.

Intriguing...

As mentioned previously, first episodes rarely hold the whole attention of viewers consistently throughout, so ignoring that I'd say it was a decent first episode. I particularly liked how it started off with the split screen and the simultaneous action of the leading pair both in their respective time periods. It definitely had it's fair share of comedic moments too (the gutter yelling scene was priceless! xD). All in all, a well thought out start.
