I really enjoyed this whole drama, from the cast, music soundtrack and over all plot. The Characters were easy to love (it also helped that Oguri Shun was the Protagonist excellent choice on that end :)). By the final episode it was hard to leave the RMPW world. So excited for the release of the Special in a few days! RMPWLOVE

- Story :
It's a cute and refreshing drama about Hyuga Toru, a CEO of an IT firm who is published on Forbes as a billionaire. He attained his fortune through chance and pure luck, and Chihiro a hardworking college student at Tokyo University who meets Toru and eventually becomes attracted to him.
This drama is the best "subordinate x boss" drama that i have ever watched.
There is nothing special to the story though but still you feel attracted to it.
- Acting/Cast : Makoto and Toru are such a wonderful couple. I cannot get enough of them together. They have a good chemistry!
Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi both did a great job.
- Music :
I loved the themesong , even after finishing the drama i kept listening to it from time to another.
P.S : I highly recommend this drama to rom-com drama fans!!

I'm not being nice about my ranking, I literally think this is the best drama I've ever watched, Kdrama OR Jdrama.

The story plot isn't predictable but nor is it unbelievable. It's REAL. I think that's what I like the most. The development of the characters and story captivates you and the actors and actresses portrayed those characters amazingly.

I wasn't tempted to watch this drama by the description or the title, I was just bored but I'm so glad I did! I joined when it was on the 9th episode and literally had to stop myself screaming in frustration while waiting for the next episode. It has an addictive and completely lovable quality. I wanted to rewatch it before it was even finished and it would be one of the dramas I would pay money to buy on DVD and watch again and again.

The music was perfect. Literally perfect. It fit the story completely. The main song Hikaru e by Miwa [Theme song] is full of hope and encouragement and I literally have had it stuck in my head for weeks while reminiscing on the last episode.

For someone who doesn't ever speak while watching a drama [crying is a different matter] I found myself ragging when bad things happened, squealing in joy at the cute little moments that the main characters shared and sprouting swear words when things didn't go the way I wanted [For example; some of the interactions with the romance].

My official number 1 must watch drama of all time. Don't questions 'should I watch it?' Just. Watch. It. Trust me

First of let me say this:
Actually I prefer to watch Japanese Dramas after all Episodes are aired and subbed. After all, there is only one ep. per week whereas the Korean Dramas offer one two eps per week.
But this time, it was different because of the main actor.
Oguri Shun as Hyuga Toru both impressed and surprised me.
His character in this drama was totally different from the ones he used to play. And from my point of view he managed to play his role well:
He was cool, charming and confident and at the same insecure because of certain issues.
Apart from that, he was able to show the new self of Hyuga Toru later.
In addition to this, the great chemistry between the main couple was another reason why I couldn't wait till all eps were aired.
However, I was a little bit disappointed when this drama ended as I expected a more exciting romance after reading the synopsis.
Plot: Ok. No pending questions.

All in all, I would watch this drama again and again. It was really worth my time.

I actually fell in love with this drama. The story line is amazing. You will definitely not be left disappointed! No, this isn't a childish romance between your average snooty guy and your average docile female character. There is something more-more mature perhaps. Now i will admit that when there's politics in the film i will be the first to start skipping, but, in Rich Man Poor Woman i couldn't. It is so beautiful and well made that you would be missing out if if you didn't watch it! Also a little hint to the ladies if you don't know by now; Oguri Shun (mighty fine) acts as the main male character. Hint hint nudge nudge. In fact the only real disappointment i had while watching this drama was that it ONLY had 11 episodes. So what are you doing people? Go. Be free. Watch this. You won't be disappointed!
IT"S AMAZING!!!!!!!

A relationship doomed to fail (in real life)

After trying to find a japanese romance drama to watch, someone mentioned this on an online forum and I was interested. They said that the relationship between the leads was interesting so I thought I'd give t a shot.
Japan does not do well in the romance genre. There may be hints, some sweet lines, some holding hands and kissing but that's it. Very lackluster.
With the main couple, it was just very hard to care for them and their relationship. I disliked Hyuga Toru for the majority of the drama, because he was an arrogant jerk. Only until he started realizing that he liked Natsui Makoto and accepted that did he become better (just by a little bit). There were lots of fighting and misunderstandings between them. I understand why that would happen but it just happens so often it gets to be annoying. Their relationship felt forced to me. Any sane girl would not fall in love with a guy like that (someone who disrespects her often).
It was made to look like she was just following him around and obeying his commands. I understand she works for him but it continues after work hours. He's just controlling. I didn't have a problem with the actors, just the characters.
The story was more focused the business side of things. I didn't understand a lot of things they were talking about because it was computer/IT related terminology. The romance was really just a side story.
I'm glad they made Asahina Yoko to be a likable character. In the beginning her tactics may be shady in getting Toru to fall in love with her. But she turned out to be a nice character. When she realized that Toru didn't like her and it was useless, she 100% supported Makoto. She never did anything insane and didn't try to cause misunderstanding between the leads (maybe except for that one car ride, all the other incidents were just happened to be seen by Makoto). She's probably the most reasonable, and also my favorite character.

I won't rewatch this. The special wasn't great either. It was like the storyline repeating itself for a reason I don't understand. But alas, they have their happy ending... Or so it seems....

Why are you reading this review when you can be watching this drama already? Seriously! Go! Watch it! You'll be so glad you did!

This was probably my favorite drama I've watched so far. After a dry spell of mediocre crap, I finally found something that I didn't regret sacrificing sleep for, or watching twice, (with and without subtitles despite the fact that I had no idea what anyone was saying).

Do not be deceived by the title, this is not a typical rom-com where some rich bratty punk gets the girl after what seems like decades of back and forth bickering and useless banter. NO! It is far more than that.

It is inspiring, thought provoking, and insightful. Its about how being in a relationship means more than just being a shoulder to lean on, or an attractive sex bag, no! Its about being a better you when you're with someone, and that doesn't necessarily mean just a significant other, it can be a close friend or a colleague. And more than just that, its about dealing with basic human emotions, jealousy, rage, heartache...confusion etc. Its just so beautifully done.

The acting was excellent! There was plenty of comedy, awkward face-palm moments, gut wrenching moments, moments where you felt like reaching into your screen and strangling that bastard that ruined everything!

....you get the picture. It was awesome! NOW GO WATCH IT!

This review may contain spoilers
I may not be made for silly rom-com. Cute rom-com, yes. And unfortunately, due many things, this drama, although it is realistic in some aspects, it is also very silly in the romance section. I have always looked at this drama with reserve yet with curiosity, and after the lovely "We Married as a Job", I wanted to watch another cute rom-com.

**SLIGHT SPOILERS**

Story: (5.5/10) on paper, everything looked good. The company was interesting, the fact that the hero is a genious who started from nothing and became this rich, intelligent, powerful president of the company was interesting. I didn't feel the "bromance" of Tohru and Asahina till the very last episode. It is understandable that Asahina was green with envy; too bad he reacted the way he did, but I liked that Tohru forgave him very quickly, and was only hurt in like, 2 episodes. The story of Makoto, on the other hand... that she gave that fake identity (his mother's name) was low but luckily, that was resolved quickly and also, Tohru forgave her pretty quickly. That is the best quality of Tohru, he wasn't a resentful person.

On the other hand, the romance... First of all, i hate love triangles, which there are (2) in this drama. Tohru and Makoto like each other, but Asahina sister likes Tohru and Asahina brother likes Makoto. Fortunately, Asahina sister (Yoko) is not an evil bitch, she is actually mature, nice and likes Makoto. Unfortunately, she kisses him twice, while Makoto gets one kiss only in the entire drama. WHAT.

Asahina brother (Kosuke) isn't really in love with Makoto, thank Heavens. He just likes her, and I think he kind of wants her only because he sees Tohru is interested in her.

About Tohru and Makoto... omg, terrible romance. The same kind that happens in HYD, only that Makoto is not strong nor has any personality as Makino has. Tohru is such a jerk with her! Treats her like an inferior, mocks her constantly, belittles her career, her ability in other stuffs. Thinks of her as "idiot" only because she can't find any job and because she is not the genius he is. Still, she likes him since Day 1. Why? I can't see any redeemable quality about him except maybe for the last episodes. There is one scene (Episode 8 I think) where both Asahina and Tohru yell at her in the meeting room, telling her that she is worthless and won't work with them anyway starting next week. And she just stays there, weeping and not saying anything. Ugh! Made me furious. I almost quit after that.

Seriously, it is HER that does most of the work, trying to get closer to him. And what does he do? Push her aside, most of the times. Laugh AT her, most of the times. Only when he is left in ruin, after Asahina's treason, he sees her value. Bastard!

The last 3 episodes are the best, since Tohru acts more like a human instead of a monster. Same with Asahina. But nevertheless, Tohru still got on my nerves... why the hell he looks for her after she says goodbye to the company and disappears? He goes to her natal town, he runs from here to there looking for her, finally finds her, and what, does he tells her he loves her? Heck no, again to square one. What an idiot.

So yeah, the romance is terrible. If I were Makoto I would have stopped crying since Episode 1 (she does cry a lot) and avoid this guy. But well, no wonder I am still single **shrugs** Also, I hate that, after struggling to get a proper job for a long time, she quits it all to be with him. By doing what? Copies. WTH, she has a degree on lab analysis or whatever her career is, and she wastes a couple of oportunities just to be with an asshole who doesn't treat her like she deserves (until the very end). On the other hand, there are no boring, dragging moments. It is easy to watch (except maybe for the occasions where you want to punch the guy and shake the girl)

Cast: (9/10) the cast is good. The match between Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi is nice. I like that both of them are black-haired, and that he is so much taller than her (she is no midget). Everybody was good, I can't complain. My favorite maybe me Aibu Saki (Yoko) but that's only because her character was nice, and likeable while being the rival. (I've read bad comments about her only because she was the rival and kissed Tohru twice... like WTH? She likes him too, he likes her, he is single, why can't she try? And once she realizes she doesn't stand a chance, she steps aside... Is she a whore because of that? Ugh)

Oh, and criminal-face Ayano Go has a small role. He is a stupid bastard in this one, no wonder XD Not evil, but a bitch. Suits him so well, once again. I am impressed by this guy, truly.

Music: (6/10) There is only one, and it is repeated over and over and over again, till you can't listen to it anymore. Still, it suits the drama, giving it a fun, girly, anime-ish feeling.

Cinematography: (9/10) the office is so spacious and vibrant, we get to see also the beautiful streets of Tokyo. The colors are nice, catchy, and clothes are pretty (Makoto's style is specially beautiful, very Japanese-like with the neat blouse and big skirts).

Overrated IMO.

It's the first Japanese drama that I've watched without taking a break from it, it's really fun and enjoyable. The actors that played the leads are really good and they have chemistry.

The premise is simple, something that has been done several times over, but what made this enjoyable for me is that it didn't try too hard to be too serious or too comedic, I think it's well directed and produced, there's character development not only for the main leads but by the other supporting casts too. There are many memorable characters. Conflicts are ended in a satisfactory manner and didn't make me too frustrated with the plot or characters.

I wonder why i even bothered trying to watch it..i donno why but i thought i should check it out just to know what all the fuss was about..and boy,was i dissapointed..
i agree with everything the earlier reviewer Amrita has said..just will add a few more points to it
The chemistry was nowhere to be found.i couldn't understand why Makoto with so many talents be running like the coffee girl.she doesnt do aything in the office aprt frm gazing at her 'genius' boss or fetching coffee for people or trying to memorise things.she is not productive at all so why why does she hang around the office.cnt fanthom that.
I tried finding comedy or any hint of romance.I was expecting a hot coffee mixed with just the right touch of romance and all i was left with was a cold coffee with no sugar in it at ALL..for me romance doesnt always have to be all about skinship. There are many dramas which without having a single kiss are just as romantic as any other.Sadly this drama has nothing neither any romance or any cute moments.
I wonderred and thought hard why it was such a success and only god knows why but as far as story was concerned i was happy that they fcused on the corporate world in the whole'the social network' style and was pleased with Oguri Shun's acting apart from that i felt like a drenched child in the rain who was promised a candy and in return got nothing.Offcourse il never we rewatching this again
just becoz i didnt like it doesnt mean others won't..personal preference i guess..

so go check this one out maybe you'll end up liking it...:D

This drama breaks the Japanese trend for detective dramas and other heavy plot dramas, since romance themed jdoramas only come once in a while. The cast are perfect to their roles, Oguri Shun as the indifferent computer genius and Ishihara Satomi as the typical nerdy clumsy girl. Aibu Saki is a bit underrated for her role, but still displayed great acting. The two leads have brilliant chemistry, and though the rich man, poor woman theme is almost a cliché, this drama had a breakthrough by making the characters grow by not standing by the extremes, meaning the guy doesn’t need to be the richest in the planet, and the damsel in distress need not be the poorest girl alive. It is a breather for the usual issue of social status, and it focused on the change they have to go through because of love. The subtle comedies, exceptional characters and a heart fluttering kiss scene make this drama not something you dare to miss.

I never expected to like this rom-com drama. I thought that I'll be witnessing scenes that are too cliche. But much to my surprised I was amazed with everything about this series. The story line is unique, the actors were very credible, the chemistry of the two lead stars was really good, and you get to grasp life's values as well.

A must-watch Japanese drama :)
