Should you? Would you? Could you?

You should watch this one (YES! )
You would recommend this to others. (YES!)
You could watch this again. (MAYBE)

I like the pace of this story. The actors are good. The story is good. Some scenes do end abruptly but I have come to accept that in JDramas now. I like the fact that this drama shows character development from arrogance to acceptance, from frivolousness to seriousness. The four lead characters are well enacted by the chosen actors. The chemistry between the lead pair is excellent! While the story is nothing new yet the actors lend credence to the success of this one. I would recommend seeing this one.

I studied computer science, so this drama was like the way that I could tell my self that I made a right choice when I studied this thing, & it did !
I loved the genius part here, it was very good to see him work like crazy making great great stuff out of nothing, very ordinary story that somehow sound to me like the making of Steve Jobs story, except the love story part for sure !
Ougri Shin rocked the show, I loved his expression, how freak he was & how he made it look so easy to be a good good programer , which is defiantly not !
The story wasn't much but I liked the way drama went right from start until the end, there were no ending lose, things that doesn't make sense, it was very well structured.

Its a good drama with a smoking hot actor ..

I must say after "Tatta Hitotsu no Koi" and " Zettai kareishi" , I'm in love again with JDrama.
Simple story but the writer and the director had done great job...
Maybe my craving for more romantic scenes have made me finished 11 episodes in a day...
Can't get enough with this ...season 2 please!!!

I thought Rich Man, Poor Woman was a terrible title but I was interested in watching it as a fan of most of Oguri Shun's work and the audience feedback seemed very positive. For me, Rich Man is one of those rare Jdramas that I fall in love with and that can really make me addicted to them.

Many show and Kdramas have plots about chaebols who tend to have the same characteristics of rich and snotty, or childish and selfish. Hyuga Toru does have some of these points but he has a more fresh personality. He built the company himself, is eccentric, and has the problem of remembering faces, which all combine to make a funny, interesting, and new character. His eccentric personality truly adds a lot to his character! Oguri acts the role amazingly and has great chemistry with the female lead.

Each episode has me begging for more, which sucks cause only one ep comes out per week. The only thing I could ask more of is the plot because since the series is so short with ten eps, it lacks some "meatier" conflicts I guess. As i've seen so far, the show mainly focuses around the main leads and there's really just this one big conflict the driving the rest of the show, which is why i give a 9 for the story. But even then, the story itself is still a great one and interactions and romance between the leads are fantastic.

You should definitely watch this show because it's sure to be a good one, and it's definitely going on my list of favorites.

[edit] so the number of eps have increased from when I first reviewed this, so finger crossed for more story to the show!

Both Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi do an amazing job in Rich Man, Poor Woman. Though this drama does follow the arrogant, prodigy male protagonist dramatically changed by a driven but down to earth female lead, I feel like the business setting and the lead actors really bring something new to this fairly popular framework. I started watching this drama for Oguri Shun but continued to watch it for Ishihara Satomi. Her character is so relatable and inspiring. As a side, Iura Arata's character a very interesting dynamic to the drama. I watched this drama after my college graduation. This drama should be very relatable to students approaching graduations and/or those still job hunting. Miwa ended up doing the theme songs for this drama. Both "Hikari e" and "Napa" are very good. "Hikari e" seemed extremely popular in 2012. I strongly recommend this drama if you are looking for something uplifting and encouraging.

This review may contain spoilers
[WARNING: the rating and review I give have the possibility to be subjective due to my preference for the genres, scenes or casts]

"If you start something new, it has to meet failure. It has to be criticized. This is where the creation process starts."

Yes, job hunting is that hard (^_^;)

Hmm … so far so good, I don't really like Oguri Shun in this dorama, he's too messy (^o^;) But I like Ishihara Satomi, she's so cute here (◕‿◕)♡ I hate when Asahina betrayed Hyuga, but the closure seems good (^_^)

Regardless of the storyline, the acting of the players is very good. I still have a hard time forgetting the image of Aibu Saki on Buzzer Beat (where I am very upset about her role), but in this dorama she plays well.

It’s been a while since I watched a Japanese dorama (that is what Japanese dramas are known as). So when I had one full day to myself and could only spare 10 to 11 hours I picked this J-drama expecting it to be a no-brainer, highly clichéd, damsel in distress rescued by a handsome rich man kinda light watch. But much to my surprise, this show was anything but that. Never judge a show by its name. The show is nothing like its name. I am still wondering why is it even named as Rich Man, Poor Woman? Maybe it is a clever attempt by the show makers to imply that some people are rich with money but lack warmth in life while some people are warm and cheerful but lack enough finances to survive. Whatever the reason may be, the social status of the protagonists was definitely not a significant element in the show. The show’s title is highly misleading and please do not expect any rich man helps poor girl kinda drama here. Now that any preconceived notions have been cleared, let’s check out what is good and what is not so good about Rich Man, Poor Woman.

Good Weights
Hatke Hyuga: Hyuga’s character is admiringly unique. He is good at his work and is arrogant as he sees himself indispensable. He is a simple man who has big visions for his company but hardly cares about himself. At the same time, he is trusting and forgiving and does not hold a grudge against people who stab him for their selfish needs. Despite being betrayed and humiliated by his closest comrade he doesn’t forget the good memories they shared in the past because of which he not only forgives him but also helps him make a graceful comeback. Where do we find such people? Only in drama land!

Compact and Precise: I am thankful to the writers for not stretching the ‘find biological mother’ angle too much. His mother did not care for him but he was stuck with her name and wanted to know more about her. When he does find her there is no typical mother-son reunion like in most dramas. He now knows what matters to him in life and goes straight after it without stopping in matters of the past. Similarly, all the other angles in the show were dealt with in a precise manner and nothing was stretched beyond reason so there was no scope for boredom.

Bad Weights
Production Value: I have this complaint from most of the J-doramas that I have watched. Even the latest doramas look like they are more than a decade old. Some doramas look like old Taiwanese shows. Is it just me or everyone who watches J-dorama feel that?

With less number of bad weights, the show stands as an average drama that isn’t bad for a one time watch. I started watching the show hoping for a light-hearted rom-com but it surprised me, in a good way. It wasn’t the cheesy office romance I presumed it to be and was a good watch. Producers of the show created a 2-hour long movie titled ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman in New York’, focusing mostly on Hyuga and his lady love’s life together as a couple and another short movie titled ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman Zero’ that shows how Hyuga built his business empire from the scratch.

If you want a break from K-drama’s then go for this one. Rich Man, Poor Woman is not high on romance but has a decent storyline that will keep you engaged.

Rich Man Poor Woman (Japan) (2012) - I guess at that time na gatan aw ko ani, first nako na japanese drama so naturally wa ko na lipay ani nga drama. I just can't seem to understand the entirety of the drama because it's too overwhelming (*or pangit lang jud pagka sub) well, wala pud ko gikilig ani nga drama kay in the first place wala jud ko kasabot. Pero master sila mag acting, especially the main character. I think because I am still not into japanese dramas, I can't seem to grasp the whole culture of how they portray it on television that is why the low rating.

One of the greatest Dramas Ive ever seen!

Actually I was watching Hana Kimi and because I started liking Oguri Shun I was curiose about his new Drama.
I actually wanted to wait till all episodes come out, because I dont like this one week-one episode-thing.
But I actually was pretty curiose and bored at that day. So I told myself "Watch only the first part of the first episode" But a first part turned into the first episode. I felt so in love with Rich Man Poor Woman!
Oguri Shun has a very awesome role as a bad guy (you know, I love dramas with bad guys)He has never ever looked that hot before! He is rich, popular and owns a company. Actually he is very chilled out, does things the way he likes and never gets influnced by others.
BUT he has a diseas. He forgets faces immediately after see them, so he cant remember people very well.
Than there is a female student, Sawasaki, she needs money and a job. She has never got a job before, not even a job interview.
But one day she decides to go to Next Innovation, the company of Hyuga (Oguri Shun) But she gets treated very bad.
Anyhow she finds herself crossing Hyugas way many times. First she was admiring him. But than she starts liking him. Although he treats her a bad way...
Okay, thats enough, I dont wanna spoil you guys.
But If you love Dramas with bad guys the way I do, you really should watch this one. I cant resist, I have to watch all episodes, although I told myself to wait till all episodes are out.
Very great and captivating storyline, awesome and sympathetic cast and beautiful music. GOTTA WATCH IT!

I am actually the one who write some reviews on some drama here, I just want to make it Clear... At first I was just so curious, and when I started to watched this drama, well my curiosity turned to LOVE, the drama, the story, and the characters as well, I never regret that I watched this, It was so INSPIRING that every one that feel down at this time will feel a positive point of view in their life.
This drama is a must seen especially to those people who need an inspiration, each episodes characterized a scene that we can see in reality, the ups and downs of their journeys’ state that each struggles and obstacles that we encounter is a part of our life, we don’t need to give up, we don’t need also to quit but we need to fight for what we believe’n that’s what the drama wanted to tell to us.
"To survive in life, you don’t need turn your back and say quit, instead you need to face it, heads up with a clear vision of what you wanted to be ahead.."
that’s what HYUGA and SAWAKI and also the writer behind this drama wanted to say to every one.
