Ending leads to curiosity

I liked the story and the way each episode ended.
Nice story ,i enjoyed watching it . Acting of each characters were good. The scene when the brothers solve their problems and got together that scene was amazing . Like this there were many scenes where we would see twist .
Only the end of last episode leads to curiosity then I came to know there is a season 2 of the story when I read the synopsis I came to know that season1 and season 2 has no connection so I disappointed. So my curiosity will remain .

Where to begin from?
This is the first time I am watching a drama that has Lee Dong Wook. I never really paid much attention to him before but after finishing Tail of the Nine-Tailed, I really have started to like him. His acting was superb. His funny moments and adorable habits had me hooked to the drama from the first episode. One of the main reasons I never got bored was because of Lee Yeon. His love for the female lead was so admirable. The other reasons were, Lee Rang and his scenes towards the end. I loved his scenes with that little kid. It was really upsetting that he died, especially after he started cherishing his life with Yoo Ri, Shin Joo and the kid. Shin Joo's loyalty was touching, like I've said before, such loyal characters are very rare nowadays in dramas.
The granny and her husband were a couple never failed to make me laugh as well!!! She was a little annoying at times but these type of characters are always good in dramas. Her poor Husband ;)
Now with the things I didn't really like were the fact that Ji Ah was just always talking about either dying or her parents and her childhood. I know they are the most precious people to her but I thought that Lee Yeon always felt bad that he wasn't able to find her parents for her. I just felt that her character was very whiny towards the end (my opinion only).
Also, a villain like Imoogi never has people hating him, we always end up liking such villains. Maybe for such a big story, he wasn't the best choice. I liked him from the beginning and was hoping till the end that he would turn good and get a happy ending but he never did :(
However, I really miss this drama already and wish it had many more episodes. Loved it overall!!!!!!
Do watch it...

It’s like a mixture of live action Anime and Korean drama. Isekai feels. Really enjoyable!

The Plot is great! The beginning got me really hooked. I really enjoyed watching this series.

It’s like an Anime and Korean drama mixture! Loved it!

Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum are the best brothers with love-hate relationship.

LDW and JBA had great chemistry.

They've shown the past and present without confusing the viewers. The transition and the cinematography are all impressive.

The script, acting and everything are all great.

I am just kind of disappointed with the ending. It could have been better. I enjoyed it until the half of ep. 16. The other half of ep. 16 are just okay.

Overall, 8.5/10.

Sometimes a sad ending has more beauty than a forced happy one

We just watched this drama and voted 8.5. Honestly, We loved Lee Rang's love for his brother Lee Yeon more than Ji Ah's love story. For us the real protagonist was Lee Rang.
Now let's talk about the last episode ..
WE'RE SO PISSED.
We knew that Rang was going to die, but we would have preferred to see him dying during the battle, even sacrificing for Yeon.
But we don't accept the way he died, cause he didn't want to.
After a lifetime of darkness, where he wanted to die more than living that way finally, he found a place, a family.
He found happiness and was living that way also for Yeon.
Making him sacrifice that way... Was so selfish. Cause yes, he repaid Yeon for all he did for him. He gave him his life back, at the price of his.
But it was so unnecessary.
Yeon's journey was done.
It was sad, but he didn't die with regrets. While Rang died having only regrets.
Sometimes a sad ending has more beauty than a forced happy one. They forced this happy ending and Rang paid the price.

Started really good

I loved the first 4 episodes they were very promising then it started to be less of my taste.. Hated the ending ! Loved the characters(minus the ahjumma and the female lead)I really didn't like the romance ,the female lead's role really changed,I loved her character in the first episodes more, she was strong and independent then she started to be very weak and all cutesy and relying on the guy! And I hated how Lee Yeon doesn't care much about his brother, like he loves him but he cares more about the girl, he literally abandoned him for her ...OVERALL IT'S GOOD like I loved the story and the side characters a lot but hated the ending and felt bad for Lee Rang!

Jo Bo Ah's performance was particularly impressive to me

I had only seen Jo Bo Ah in Destined with You, in a very different interpretation, due to a very over the top role and a strange hair dye. In Tale of the Nine-Tailed, I saw a completely different interpretation. If I hadn't read that it was the same actress, I might have struggled to recognize her. I found it as an indication of a talented and versatile actress who can handle multiple roles with absolute authenticity. Of the two dramas, I loved Destined with You more and this one less, while in Tale of the Nine-Tailed I appreciated Jo Bo Ah more

As for the story, what can I say, the same mechanisms were repeated over and over again during the drama, a sign of a script with an initial idea but few ideas to develop it for 16 episodes. I found particularly absurd the presence of people with the most incredible powers who continually make the same stupid mistakes, just to advance a script that might definitely be improved.

WHAT THE FOX SAY? (sorry, but I couldn't let this pass)

I have to learn when to stop with this kind of drama. Since the beginning, I had the feeling that I would cry as I did with "Goblin" and my expectations were totally right. I saw the last episode yesterday and my head still hurts because of all the cry.

As I said on first impressions, I'm not a fan of fantasy dramas, but some points catch my attention in this one and made me keep going. One of the things was Ji Ah (Jo Bo Ah). How I loved this girl and her personality! Ji Ah wasn't a common female lead at all! Her courage was impressive and the determination to find her parents and keep at Lee Yeon's side was a high point to me and make me wanna see how everything would end. Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) also was a great character. I always laughed at his sarcasm and his intense protection for the people he loved. Lee Rang (Kim Bum) was a beautiful surprise, I caught myself cheering for him even when he did bad things, only because his charism was amazing. These characters moved me until the end, and of course my baby Jung Shi Yool. I LOVE THIS KID! The plot with Ki Yoo Ri (Kim Yong Ji) and Gu Shin Joo (Hwang Hee) didn't make me fall in love with them. I loved Yoo Ri's personality, but I thought their relationship kinda forced in some moments. I thought cute, I smiled, but wasn't a remarkable thing.

The story caught me many times and make me very anxious about the next episodes, but my big problem was the last episodes. I won't spoiler it here because this review is spoiler-free, but I'll let in a comment below finalized with SPOILER (if you are reading this on the page of the drama, you can search this post on my profile). Besides the last episodes, all the story is very consistent and very good writing. I think that for a Korean person that knows all the culture and legends, everything could make more sense and be more clear in some points. I noticed that sometimes I was lost with all the stories because I wasn't familiar with the legends, so I just didn't catch many details. But this wasn't important to follow the story, I thought that maybe just could give me a better experience.

I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this drama after all the process, but I never rate a drama only based on the last episodes. This definitely was a "pretty good show" walking into "amazing", so I'll put an 8,5 (★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★/2).

I will write about "Start-up" soon! I finished many dramas these days so I'm a little overloaded, but tomorrow I'll write and after that, I'll write my first impressions of "Her private life"! Many things to the next days! Follow the posts and share them!

If you wanna know my opinion about the end WITH SPOILERS, you can read the comment below. If you didn't watch it yet, save it for later!

See you soon!
XOXO, Mari.

This Drama got me back into Kdrama! So this drama will probably always hold a special place in my heart.
I really loved The nine-tailed premise of the story. The gumiho tale is one of my favorite Korean folktales and legends, so that got me really excited to watch this drama more.

Characters/ Relationshp
I think my most favorite thing in this drama is was Lee's Gumiho siblings/Bromance. I really enjoyed both Rang's and Lee Yeon's bickering bromance. I remember when watching this drama all I wanted was for both of them to get along at the end and become the brothers they once were and clear up the misunderstanding.
Lee Yeon and Ji-ah's relationship was so heartbreaking to watch it came with a lot of sacrifices. All I wanted for them was to have a happy ending and be together. This romance showed you too realized you need to celebrate love once you find it.

Acting:
Lee Dong Wook is considered one of my favorite actors recently, after watching goblin and tail of the nine-tailed I really enjoy his acting. He played Lee Yeon's character so well that it really made me enjoy his character through the whole show.
Jo Bo-ah I think she played her character very well in this drama. She didn't really amaze me with her acting but I would consider watching one of the other dramas she has been in.
Lee Dong Wook and Jo Bo-ah's chemistry were amazing I think they played off a couple really well.
Kim Bum his acting was amazing!! I'm gonna have to watch some of his dramas when I have the chance.

OST:
I really enjoyed this OST!
My favorite was: Sung Si Kyung - Leaning On You

.......TALE OF THE NINE TAILED.......

Watch this drama i know you won't be disapointted its one of my the best drama i have ever watch althrought i give a 10 star review rarely the actor is a nine taled fox who is 1600 year old and is waiting for his first love and after 600 years of waiting the first love was reborn and she is a producer who lost her father and mother at an acdent in 9 years but the parents dead body was not found so she belive that her parents are still alive and is looking for them and the fox also help her due to some reason and they slowly fell for each other and because of sone things girl is in danger and the fox tell her that he will protect him and so on some days fox brother (he is also a fox and he is very hot KIM BUM)gives the girl a glass through which they can see there previous life then girl knows that in her previous life she was killed by the same nine taled fox (main cast) the she ask him why did you kill me (this kind of situtation only ) then a moment comes for the fox that he can save his brother ( how many times we qural with each otherthey are still siblings)or his first love (he also not that in touch with her)so he choose his brother ? then how will the girl survie if the girl dies how will the story end .... I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT when ever every epesode ends i'm about to die with curosity ...ahh cant wait wait for ep9 i hope that this drama has a happy ending ....

So far so good

I've watched all the episodes currently released! And i'd say so far so good (really good) i really enjoy watching the show, it does really keep you on edge sometimes (exciting!) I personallythink that there's a lack of supernatural shows in the drama world (especially in kdrama) and if it keeps going like this this will probably be my new favorite drama! The cast does really work together well, the endings do are very annoying because they'll always end with a cliffhanger! It's also a very good way to learn more about Korean culture, watching this show made me intrigued to search and research more about the nine-tailed fox and stuff!! I love it!!

It wasn't for me.

Major spoilers, especially about the ending. If you like this drama and want to start or continue watching it, don't read any further.

Three seasons why I dropped this drama.

1. It was boring from the very beginning: Nothing about it appealed to me. Then I continued watching only for Lee Rang. I read the ending. It's beautiful. Sacrificing himself for his brother (ToT)(ToT)(ToT)

2. I only watched for Lee Rang: Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum had a great on-screen relationship. Lee Rang was my favourite character. But the romance was so boring. And the FL's story never tugged at my heart strings like it should have.

3. The OST was not memorable: Although the songs are good, Kim Jong Wan and Shownu were my faves, they were wasted in this drama (◕‸ ◕)

Loving it!

For someone who grew up listening to supernatural stories, I find myself drawn to such themes. As an Asian we all have our little superstitions and supernatural characters that we grew up listening about. I loved how this drama does not focus on the romance and has a lot of different elements. There are obviously cliched plotlines and the whole Korean-unbelievable-conincidence-of-fate and stuff but it works at the end. I dont expect a kdrama to change my life but I just want to enjoy it - especially during this period of lockdown where I am running out of things to watch. It is cliched to me because I've watched a plethora of Kdramas but I've enjoyed this one. I love the supernatural-thriller bits and hope they continue it. The brother story is so cute!

P.S Plus point of having everyone goodlooking in this kdrama. Kim Bum looks extra spicy lol (along with LDW)
