Chaos, Messy and Bloody but Weirdly Entertaining
So, this season picks up right after the first one ,our guy U Sol and some of his crew are out of jail, trying to live that better, reformed life despite the giant “ex-convict” label hanging over their heads. But of course, life doesn’t play fair. Here comes Hyun U Yeong, the shady boss of an underground boxing ring for the rich and morally bankrupt. He tries to lure U Sol into fighting there, but U Sol wants no part of it. But things don’t stay peaceful for long. Rich dudes start causing chaos just because they can. Kidnapping, killing, throwing around power like it's confetti. Seriously, it’s like crime is their hobby.
The pacing is wildly fast. Sometimes it feels like one fight just bleeds into another (with plenty of actual blood). Plot-wise, it’s a bit all over the place, but you know what? It’s entertaining. Only 6 episodes, around 25 minutes each – a quick binge that doesn’t ask too much from your brain.
Shoutout to my faves:
Lee Won Jun and Han Seong Yong absolutely carried this for me. And Won Jun’s sister? Loved her too.
▫️Spoiler bit:
.
The part that hit the hardest was when Won Jun went around with that little notebook, apologizing to everyone he hurt. The heartbreak? Real. Some people didn’t accept his apology – and they’re totally valid for that, I wouldn't either– but it still felt so sad from his side. His death hurt more than I expected, especially since it was used mainly to push the revenge arc forward. And then that beautiful moment – U Sol finishing the apology tour, the last name being his own, and saying he’s already forgiven Won Jun.
The ending was actually satisfying – U Sol choosing to keep fighting, but this time in the ring, on his terms. And hey, that little tease at the end with Hyun U Yeong going to jail and meeting Do Hyeon? You know they’re setting up a possible Season 3.
Would I watch Season 3?
Absolutely. Even if I’ve rated both seasons kind of mid, there’s something addictive about the chaos and heart of this series. I’m in it till the end.

chaotic mess
I was expecting much more from it, as I was looking forward to this drama. The storyline is great, but the production and editing are not good. It would be much better if they made a proper drama, as it's basically a movie split into six episodes. So we could have proper storytelling that takes time, so you can feel for the characters instead of jumping from one scene to another. The villain was my favorite character, as Hyun Wook portrayed him perfectly. I did not bond with the characters as it was chaotic, rushed, and all over the place.
Now I'm really upset, as the actors did a great job, but the execution is not there.
If they make a season three, I hope this time they will do it properly.

Maybe it's just me but...
this just didn't hit hard at all in my opinion. as many already mentioned, it definitely felt rushed despite that they had multiple years to do this.none of the characters had depth to them. the fighting scenes looked very scripted and honestly most of them don't even make sense...? for example one of them gets stabbed and the wound bleeds but is able to fight against multiple guys but okay here you can still say "that's the adrenaline" but right after that more guys get there and this wounded person fights them on his own completely til they are all k.o ???
I also can't stand seeing it when someone chokes another person and they only move their arms like ... aim for the damn eyes??? if s/he chokes you from behind you just keep punching with your elbows to their ribs it's genuinely not that hard, especially with all the adrenaline rush in the moment.
and the most ridiculous one was when x and y were fighting, x kept hitting y who couldn't even dodge his punches and yes y ended up severally wounded and bleeding (not from stabs) and almost collapsed but then OUT OF NOWHERE he gained his strength back and put up a real fight against x, who then also ended up severely injured. also after their fight you can see him limping for a few seconds and after opening the door he walked as if nothing happened as if his body isn't in pain at all.
is it seriously just me who picks up on such things? I haven't read a comment noir review pointing this out therefore it lowkey feels like I'm nitpicking this drama but that's not what I'm trying to do I'm just here to express my opinion and honestly I've watched many better action/thriller kdrama/movies before so maybe that's why I pay attention to such things. the movie was better in my opinion, although also not the best, but this just wasn't it for me
p.s I purposefully avoided mentioning any names (like who fights against who) to not spoiler anyone accidentally 😁

Shark 2: Still in Deep Waters, Still Fighting
Shark 2: The Storm is a solid and satisfying follow-up that builds meaningfully on the events of the first film. While the storyline doesn’t break new ground narratively, it compensates with a sense of coherence and emotional continuity that keeps viewers engaged. The plot feels well structured and purposeful, allowing the characters’ journeys to take center stage. One of the strongest aspects of the sequel is how it explores the protagonists’ lives post-prison. It’s refreshingly grounded watching them attempt to reintegrate into everyday society feels both authentic and poignant. The series does an admirable job of showing that while the desire to change is real, the past has a way of lingering. I appreciated that the characters stayed true to who they were at their core, yet also evolved in believable ways. Their continued bond and commitment to a better life added an emotional weight that made the quieter moments as compelling as the action scenes. A standout theme was the idea that people can change, but that old instincts may return when circumstances demand it.
The introduction of new characters added some fresh dynamics, though not all of them landed for me. That said, Lee Yeon Jin was a clear highlight charismatic, complex, and a welcome addition to the cast. I need more background on her.
Episode 4’s outtake was a delightful surprise, charming, and heartwarming. They were just adorable. As for the action sequences, they were a noticeable step up from the first installment. Better choreography, pacing, and cinematography made them genuinely thrilling. The soundtrack also deserves a mention, it elevated the energy of key scenes and often had me fully immersed and cheering.
While some story developments were predictable, I didn’t necessarily mind that. In fact, one major turn that I personally disliked felt narratively justified, even if it wasn’t what I wanted to see.
In the end, Shark 2: The Storm was an enjoyable binge with depth, grit, and heart. Though I typically prefer shows that wrap things up within one season, I wouldn’t be opposed to a continuation, if it maintains this level of character development and storytelling consistency. There’s still room to grow, and if a third chapter delivers on that promise, I’ll be watching.
(With the post ending scene it seems we might get another season or movie)
