Watch a few clip on YouTube. The scene looks appetizing. Haha... Turn out Zhang Miao Yi. Let's watch...This drama is a few dramas that MDL summary not really quite on point with the real drama story. Let's discuss drama...
Baichuan City's is famous as a gourmet city & their top chef are controlled by Jiang's family. In the Baichuan City there're 7 knives that determine or mark their 7 top chef. That knives given to 7 families as their inheritance for their successor. That's the rule of Baichuan City chef for 200 years. But because of that's rule, the other chef or restaurant without the knives were suppressed. In order to have future, the young chef can challenge the top chef to snatch the knives from the top chef, and the loser will get out from the town.
So, that's the first mistake MDL made. It's not the Knife nation’s cooks, but only Baichuan City rule. Nothing in the drama indicate this is nation rule.
Now come the story of our ML, Jiang Jie (JJ) & FL, Li Nai (LN). JJ is a talented young chef, that's already challenge most of the knives owner. When the story start, he already took several of the knives & start to challenge the owner of the next knife. Which is the teacher of our FL. That's when their journey start to intertwine.
LN is a young apprentice chef, who has a special ability. Her nose is sharper than most people. She can smell the ingredient of something, no matter how soft the smell is. in short. LN's teacher lose to JJ & LN determine to take revenge and restore her teacher honor by taking the knife back from JJ. With that plan in mind, LN start to work at JJ's kitchen & try to infiltrate JJ’s inner circle. And just really realize how far her skill gap from JJ. But LN not give up & still sharpen her skill to face JJ one day.
That's the 2nd mistake. JJ not work in hotel’s kitchen. He own his own restaurant...
When the story rolling, we find out the reason why JJ try to collect all the knives from the families & what's his plan after collecting all that. And with that we also can see the dirty and the politic behind 7 families that rule Baichuan City. So how will the story evolve in the end...? Who will eventually win between JJ & LN...?
The last mistake. JJ never really secretly hungers for a showdown against an older chef whose skills are still legendary. But he has bigger goal...
That's pretty much the story. Now what I like and don't.
What I like:
+ The interesting cooking battle
+ JJ is a good man. Even though he's first portray as cruel or cold when took all the knives from the previous owner, but yeah what he said is true. Nothing more fair than took the knife by cooking battle.
+ The interesting background story of JJ & LN.
What I don't like:
- The unnecessary separation between JJ & LN
- The not so clear of other character, like the stupid Xi Jiang Yue (JY). When JJ lose JY also lose his job. But instead stay together with JJ to facing the world, JY instead take a sharp turn & join JJ enemy cause he can't find other job & the enemy help him. That's the stupid things. 1st why why why JY not go to other city or country to search for the job. 2nd when JY turn his face from JJ, he said they're now have different goal, what's the goal is never discuss cause you know he's not the ML. Ugh....
Overall this quite good story to be watched.

I initially enjoyed this drama once I stopped trying to really understand the plot and let some of it go. I liked the premise and both leads. The story, at least for me moved at a good pace and I liked the leads chemistry. Halfway through is when it became hard for me to root for the FL She clearly hurt ML and devastated him with her words and actions. She had her reasons but drama didn’t spend time showing us if she was really that sad over Ml. IMO, she didn’t seem sad. When FL was trying to win him back… she lacked a complete sense of sincerity. Chasing after him with her big eyes, giant cheesy smile, prancing around him, and using the cutesy voice when this guy is still in pain was so superficial. I wish there was a heart to heart… a genuine apology for lying and deceiving him. Something…. cuz I really wanted to like her.
The OST and sound effects didn’t help either … while funny in the beginning it minimized ML’s emotions and made FL seem flighty and ingenious. I didn’t care if they got together and that was a big bummer for a romantic drama.

Love this drama - it’s so good
I love the story line, the acting, and the chemistry. I feel their pain and their love for each other. Although the ML is a cold type of guy, he is soft with the FL. I feel how he really cares for her. His love always seen in his action towards her. The conflict between the family of ML also gives a bit of spice in the story. I love the FL she is always funny and cute. She’s really a good actress as I watched her other dramas. She never fails to give a great acting skills may it serious or funny scenes. She always have chemistry with her leading men that lead me to ship her with them, lol. I always looking forward for every episode. It’s indeed worth watching for, most especially if we will really pay attention to the story. Was this review helpful to you?

A Realistic Romance
9.5/10
This cdrama was realistic for me as not all love stories aren't perfect or about passionate kisses but about the geniune care between the two and their feelings towards each other.
The ML potrayed this perfectly, what really got me cracked up was that the second couple got married first?
The ML's sister was annoying but that's her character she's just over-protective over her bro and feels like she needs to be their for him more, gradually she gets less annoying?
Thats why I gave it a 9.5/10?
Plus they had a tragic past, I think the hate needs to stop towards her, all characters has their flaws and theirs nothing wrong with that.
This deserves higher than a 7.9, the cooking in this was so tempting and the growth of all the characters was amazing,
Defo worth a watch if you want to watch something with more realism.

Best rom com childhood crush drama
Jiang Jie, a low-profile head chef, and Li Nai, a lively apprentice, were childhood friends. After many years, they reunite, but as rivals with a deep-seated grudge over a "knife-snatching" incident. Seeking revenge for the stolen knife, Li Nai goes undercover in Jiang Jie's restaurant. From initially disliking each other to realizing their true feelings, they both embark on a journey of love and growth through culinary competitions. Was this review helpful to you?

Cute and different
Bravo to the cast!ML- first, his looks. He was straight out of a comic book. Good job! His demeanor and his slow burn attitude. I love the fact that as life went on his feelings for FL stand still where he last so her but still developed into love. He is is a very good actor.
FL- she was so cute and I loved her morals and values through out this drama! True character!
The FL DAD- He was a hidden gem. Although he had dementia in his soul he kept what truly matter. His daughters love and protection
The surrounding cast , especially the FL best friend. Bravo!

fun and light-hearted, perfect for bingeing
I picked this up completely by chance just because I saw it when I was looking for something to watch while eating. Safe to say it’s easy to get hooked into it as I found myself bingeing through the night to early morning even on a work day. It’s nicely written for those just looking for cheesy, borderline cringe, but light-hearted shows to keep the stress of life at bay. There’s just enough conflict and plot to keep the story going but not enough to make your blood boil. It has the perfect amount of story, comedy, and romance for me. Not much feedback apart from it being something I’d recommend even to myself to watch again.

Sayonara.
