Not bad, but could have been so much better

So, I was looking for something fluffy to watch and the first 19 episodes had a good pace with and great chemistry between the leads. There was suddenly a pot happening in the last 5 episodes which could have felt very cramped pace wise. The MLs character for most part of the show was upbeat and someone who would go after what they truly wanted. So, the shift in the later episodes felt sudden and not enough background to justify it. It does have a happy ending, which also felt very rushed. ML was a great fit for the school, but couldn't pull off looking older after the time jump. Just something they could have done better.

It surely has become one of the best cdrama after hidden love and when I fly towards you.
This drama is so cute. The way Ruo Xi looks at Xia Mi is so cute. He fell harder for her. He is such a sweetheart. OH MY GOD his smile is so good. Main leads chemistry was on point.
I felt bad for the Monitor throughout the series. He didn’t deserve that.
I don’t know why he ended up with Ruo Li. I thought she would feel guilty about her actions in later episodes but no she proved me wrong.
I just don’t like their end. Not every person deserves your forgiveness. The monitor shouldn’t have accepted her.
Every character in the series has their plus points. I really liked yu han’s character.
Some people will say that the male lead should have contacted her but the point of the later episodes was his struggle. Even if his mom’s surgery was successful, he still struggled financially. He wanted to be the best version of himself for Xia Mi. He wanted to fulfil that promise. He was frustrated with his life. He lost the phone charm as well which the female lead gifted him. Then after 2-3 years, he thought that she had moved on. He only realized that she hadn't when he read the script which she wrote.
In my opinion, it was a cute drama.

At first watch the movie is great I loved the story, I loved the plot and the theme, and pretty much everything about the story but what I founded fault in was that the female lead always forgive the second female lead "aka her so call bestie" because there is a lot of time when her "best friend" always treat her bad and she still always end up forgiving her even when the girl who liked the class captain always told the female lead that her friend don't actually like her and that she's too soft and too forgiven when it comes to her "fake best friend" and I don't understand why they wanted them to keep being friends cuz if being realistic I would not talk back to that so-called best friend I do understand that some people would talk back to her but I WOULDN'T so I did not understand why the story kept leaning into them being friends when it was so obvious that there was no friendship there.
Anyways other than that yeah the story was nice I felt so bad for the male lead when it came to his family situation but yeah it was great the end was kind of rushed though I didn't really want it to be that rushed but yeah and I love the male lead I love the way he smiles like every time he's smiles I smile like that's so cute he's smile is so cute.

A Refreshing High School Love Story

If you ever need a light drama to accompany you while you do your thing, I'd suggest this one. This was my playlist for about a week? Yas, I wasn't binge-watching 🫶🏻, but the story mostly revolves around a first love story in high school with a too-good-to-be-true boyfriend.

However, the interesting part is the SFL, who's veryyyyy 🐍, and at first, I tried to sympathize with her life story. Then, after some revelations and forgiveness from her friends, she was still 🐍 and definitely mentally sick. People were complaining on Tiktok because they gave the nice, attentive, and caring SML a bad ending since he ended up with her...while for me, it was okay because SML is more of a pushover and has a hero mentality, I guess.

Anyway, back to the ML and FL, they're so cute 🫶🏻, and their acting is good for newcomers. Especially the ML - you know, in usual idol dramas, the ML usually doesn't have vast expressions to show because they're the 😎 type. Well, here the ML is the bright, smart, friendly, and SOLUTIVE guy you can rely on. His life story took a turn when his family collapsed, and he had this pride to carry the burden alone. Then, he went into hiding while fighting hard to achieve his promise with the FL. The FL isn't a pushover; at first, she just thought she wanted to befriend anyone because she was bullied in her last school. But in the end, she stood up for herself, not being a damsel in distress 🥳.

The story mostly revolves around high school, where it was refreshing to watch the love story. They were obviously in love, but because they were students, their encounters and relationship were blurry. There were no confessions or over-the-top skinship; they were so pure in evolving from friends to lovers.

For some aspects, I wish they would be executed better lyk in time lapse of 10 years...they still look the same. Also, some things indeed rushed out, perhaps, they could actually make better episodes staging rather than go swift only on 5 episodes.

Lastly, I just found out who Tian Hongjie is...and he's tall 🤌🏻 and an idol too? I guess he'll have more acting gigs after this.

OK enough if you’re in a drama slump and would want to get by with something easy

This is not the worst youth drama series, but it’s also not the best. Personally, it’s something you randomly grab off the shelf when you’re starving, so anything that would fill the stomach would be alright as long as you get by.

The tone and style were definitely aimed at being lighthearted, romantic comedy (although it attempts to go slightly beyond that in the end), however, I still find some of the conflicts silly and absurd. I wish the writer attempted to write more realistic conflicts that would actually happen in school as young adults, not something obviously and directly plagiarized from someone’s daydream.

I also found myself clenching my fists a few times because of how utterly cringey some scenes can be, but I couldn’t help but keep watching until the end because the leads are adorable and their chemistry is there.

And I think that’s the strongest point of the show. They make it seem like they’re really in love, especially Tian Hong Jie as Zhang Ruo Xi. With a few improvements here and there, I’m hoping he could land on a huge project to show more of what he can offer. And oh, Chen Kang, too!

There are loose ends and rushed and cramped narratives, but the most disappointing of all is how the second ML’s story concluded. He deserved a better ending, even if it means not pairing him up with another secondary character.

Technically wise, there are also numerous hiccups that I’ve observed, so to enjoy the drama, it’s best to turn off your brain and just let the youthful romcom take the lead.
