.This series has so many good aspects however it really was exhausting to watch at times. The discovery of love is definitely a remake of evolution of love and other series like it. They series revolves around it to individuals and a potential partner discovering their love and finding their way and understanding what love is to them. Although there are many series like it, I must admit this one is not the worse however this is the first one that seemed to have such an indecisive FL that it was frustrating. It’s cute, funny at times but also very emotional and thought provoking in some aspects. I rate it a 7 out of 10 because this series although good seemed a bit gloom and definitely not romantic. The chemistry between the leads and supporting cast was amazing. I can honestly say I didn’t know how it would end until the very last episode.

Will I recommend it ~Yes
Good chemistry ~yes
Mystery ~no
Romance~sort of
Great ending~ I guess

SURPRISINGLY ADDICTING!!

I originally wanted to only watch this drama bc of Eric but honestly the cast was nice! Even Ha Jin :(

This drama was unique with the side interviews to really show the characters' inner feelings in which most dramas have the audience infer or guessing~

I loved the approach of how realistic/relatable this drama was! The hardships of heartbreak, break ups, starting a new relationship/over, dealing with bumping into exes etc... Also how this made me question how everyone defines love extremely differently and how important being able to be yourself around someone is also an aspect of love - not everything can be fixed or completed with just pure effort/emotions.

This drama just had such a roller coaster of emotions and really have you frustrated yet somehow understanding vibe.

I also love how all of the characters - no one was exactly PERFECT and showing their development / growth was so fitting for this theme.

The characters were great! Although the main girl - she kept raising her eyebrows a lot LOL...

Overall, even the side stories were cute and tear-jerking. Totally would recommend!!

A highly predictable love triangle

For a moment, there in the last episode, I thought that they were going to spring a nice surprise on us and have the SML win the game. But no such luck. Well, this is a K drama and the SML is there to cause trouble between the leads not to win the girl. Unfortunately!

The drama started badly, so much so, I almost dropped it after 15min, but I persevered (another forum challenge! LOL) having decided to watch an episode a day. But after a few days I found myself glued to the screen and hitting the next episode button very quickly. The drama got me hooked from the 7th episode on. In spite of it being very predictable: the whole plot was obvious after the first episode!

What would you do if your first love, first long-term boyfriend, suddenly appears 5 years after your painful break-up and when you are in a new stable and loving relationship? The FLs solution is: LIE. And she keeps lying for 15 episodes, her friends keep lying to cover her lies, even her ex lies for her. Of course, this cannot end well!

The FL is a strong woman who's made a mess of her love life. She's very unlikeable: getting caught lying by her long suffering new boyfriend and saying "Sorry!" which he keeps accepting having decided to trust her. She never really crosses the line but she is sorely tempted and is having trouble resisting the temptation. He just keeps standing by her.

I went through all sorts of emotions while watching these two together: they were annoying, they were butterfly inducing loving, they were sad, they were happy but there was the expiration date stamped on their relationship from the get go and it was frustrating watching him do everything in his power to save their doomed relationship.

The drama credits music makes you believe this is a comedy and there are some funny bits, which are not half bad , involving support characters to balance out the heavy drama of the three main ones! The best character, by far, is the FL's mother, a drama screenplay writer: I loved her dry humour and direct and frank remarks, telling her daughter home truths she needed to hear without sugar coating anything. I wanted to see more of her!

The one original feature of this drama are the character interviews, which replaced inner monologue and narration. The idea was good, the execution a lot less: it was quite messy and often difficult to understand whether the scene was an interview or the dialogue. The interviews came as explanation parts after important events.

The acting was top notch and the chemistry was there. The music was appropriately tugging at heartstrings, heavy on violins, nice but not to be listened to regularly since it may provoke depression!

They say that sometimes you will find love in an unexpected place and time. This is exactly what this drama is all about. The storyline is very much realistic. Each episode is very much well plotted. I love how the writer and director inserts small scenes of going-back-to-the-past memories in between the scenes, so that the viewers will know little by little about what happened in the past that made Yeo Reum and Tae Ha that way. Although, i love the second lead, im still all for Yeo Reum and Tae Ha. As i watched each episode about them, i can feel that Tae Ha has so much love for Yeo Reum and vice versa. I can very well see love in Tae Ha's eyes whenever he stares at Yeo Reum. And i love that kind of fluttering feeling whenever i watch dramas like this. That's why this has become one of the sweetest love story for me.
Highly recommended!

A drama with some depth about relationships

This drama is not your typical romcom. I can see why some people would have given this drama a low rating. I gave this drama a high rating because it is a mature drama that deals with intimate relationships. This drama explores "who one needs to be" in order to live up to the promises made while "in love". This drama was unique in its storytelling, although it did follow some usual tropes. I liked it because it is a mature view about what it takes to have a meaningful relationship.

If you like dramas that has depth and like character development then this drama is for you!!

Jung Yu Mi as Han Yeo Reum (FL) did a fantastic job of portraying a character that is firm minded but is flawed when it comes to love matters. She truly was in touch with her feelings without knowing why. I love the line from the drama "sometimes the tears flow first without knowing the reason why".

The story is about a couple who dated for 5 years and meet again with the ex-boyfriend (EX) 5 years later. Meanwhile, FL has a new boyfriend (NB) but their relationship is not honest and at many levels is superficial. It was infuriating to watch FL & NB withhold secrets for almost silly reasons. But I came to peace and appreciated the writer's intent because given the nature o f FL&NB, the trust was missing and thus the foundation of a solid relationship was missing.

The EX has his own lessons to learn. I loved Eric Mun's lesson of humility and finally the realization that "who he needs to be" in order to truly love.

In my opinion, there was significant transformation of the three main characters which makes this drama AMAZING. Each had their lessons:
NB admitted to himself that he matters. He finally confessed to FL that everyday was a painful day in being with relationship with her. This feedback to FL aided FL to truly look at herself and her growth.
FL's discovery of self-confidence and just being a girl friend was not good enough. For example, based on results, her two significant relationships fell apart.
EX's discovery that he was responsible for the breakup of a relationship that was to be cherished for the remainder of his life. Yet he had to let her go so that he can truly wish for FL's happiness. A great lesson in humility, respect, and altruistic. This all makes him or anyone a better person.

Finally, I loved the concept of "interview". The interview sequence gave a viewer an impression of an event that has already happened. Usually a director will resort to flash backs which essentially halts the current event while as a viewer we construct the history in our heads. The interview technique kept the focus on the present while completing the picture of a past event that is significant at the present moment.

I thank other reviewers of this drama. Their insights encouraged me to watch this drama and I am glad that I took their recommendation.

Second lead syndrome

After few episodes of watching I decided the second lead shouldn't end up with her but on the other hand I feel the message is not right. When someone is putting effort in a realationship, the show gives this message that you shouldnt do. Only natural relationships last which they call destiny. I find the series really fucked up................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I finally watched and finished Discovery of Romance. I had heard a lot of different opinions and read a lot of different reviews about this drama. I heard from many people that they thought it was terrible, but the same amount of people really enjoyed it, so I was stuck on whether or not I should actually give it a try..but as the year is coming to an end, it's time for me to start watching all the dramas I've missed through the 2014 season, and I thought I would start with this one.
To my surprise, I didn't hate this drama. I know a lot of people thought maybe I wouldn't be into it, but I actually was. I think I am being a little bias however since I was just really excited to see Eric and Jung Yu Mi in a drama/romance together since Que Sera Sera…which is one of my all time favorite dramas ever…plus it had Sung Joon, one of my White Christmas babies in it so I like to support them as much as I can. Now I know a lot of people didn't like Yu Mi’s character, from the viki comments…god they are scary and annoying, however, I enjoyed her. I think that people bashed her because she didn't live up to the expectations that we have of people in a relationship, however, she was real..maybe too real for some people. Yes, she played games to get here way and what not, but if you want to admit it or not…we all do in relationship..now maybe not as much as she does but she is a fictional character where things are dramatized obviously. I also found that both Eric and Sung Joon’s characters were both likable and dislikable at the same time, which is also realistic to people..one day you really like someone and then the next day they do something that you personally don't like and you dislike them. That's just life. I thought this drama just gave an extra realistic outlook on life and relationships between people, I mean just like their Que Sera Sera characters they were only human and make mistakes and have trial and error to go on with life and to find the type of love and lifestyle they ultimately want to live, and in real life, just like the drama, you can end up hurting people along the way.
The cast in this drama was fantastic, for the most part. Eric obviously did a great job, I'm usually always impressed by him. I think he pulls in emotions very well, especially for an idol actor..which I do consider him since is in an idol group..and I tend to be very opinionated about the acting abilities of idols. Jung Yu Mi was great like always, as well. I love her acting style because she can emote emotions from her eyebrows to her toes, her whole body shows how she is feeling as a character and it always impresses me…she is a full body actress and I love that. Sung Joon did a decent job, this, to be honest, want his best performance I have seen of him, but he did well enough that it didn't take away from the drama, and given the circumstances of the drama and his character I thought he did a pretty decent job. Yoon Hyun Min, it's good to keep seeing him since Heartless City, he is a very appealing actor and he plays a role that you can't help but love.I think he keeps getting better and better as an actor as he becomes more and more popular, and that can be said for Kim Seul Gi, coming from a comedian standpoint, she always brings the laughs but she is also a great actress and she can pull of more emotional and serious scenes as well, and I can't wait for the day that she becomes a leading female and not just a side character or the best friend character. Lastly, Yoon Jin Yi was the only person I really had a problem with in this drama. I'm indifferent about her character, to be honest, but her acting wasn't something that I particularly liked. I thought she was decent in A Gentleman’s Dignity, and that's the last time I've seen her, but in this, it seemed more rookie than she was in AGD. I don't know, she just didn't do it for me, and she just didn't pull off the emotions I thought she should be showing, very well. I don’t know it was just a stale and lackluster performance on her part, in my opinion.
Overall, I am surprised that I really actually enjoyed this drama, I was in the opposite half of the spectrum that I thought I would be. And to point out about the documentary style setting where they would speak to the camera, I know some people didn't like that but I actually found it interesting and helped with being able to hear what the characters really thought without having to put them into some over-dramatic, out of place scenario or some boring voice over..it was creative and I didn't mind it at all. Overall I thought that Discovery of Romance took me on a journey about love and life, and how it can all come crashing down in a second and how nothing in love and life is easy and has a simple one answer..its a roller coaster ride and they don't say “love is a battlefield” for no reason because in the end..no matter what someone is going to get hurt, even if you don’t know about it.

It was a fustrating drama to watch to say the least. So obvious who she should be with (I mean like who would not like to be with Hot Babe, Eric Moon?????), , but as you watch the drama unfold, you start to understand why the characters are the way they are. Then you also realize, many times there are no absolute rights or wrongs in how people behave. I think that's basically the whole premise of the drama. I thought the wrting was really good, storyline therefore also very good. Great secondary character storyline as well. I loved Eric Moon, so Hot and matured so much since Super Rookie. Would have given a higher score if main characters spent more time with each other in the latter years.

Frustrating! Just NO

I had so many problems with this drama that I don't even know where to start.

First off, the FL is rather stupid and makes illogical decisions. First she thought that hiding the fact that she started working with her ex was a good idea. Even though I understand she didn't want to hurt her current boyfriend. I still thought it was silly.

However, i could ignore that part for the sake of the story because drama needs to happen, what bothered me the most was her behavior once her current boyfriend (second male lead) started to be swayed by the girl from his childhood. Now he is unable to tell the truth about who the "new" girl is and every time he's caught looking as if he is cheating, he somehow blames it on the FL and she forgives him. Like omg ,who is that stupid, even in dramas i really can not bare to see characters that naive.

So basically the story goes: the current boyfriend, the Doctor (SECOND ML, found his missing childhood sweetheart and basically fell in love with her and he would for sure dump the FL who would be left heartbroken and miserable, but luckily her ex boyfriend (our ML) appeared just before everything started to fall apart and he picked up peaces of her broken heart. BUt, while this was happening he kept blaming the FL for not loving him and for geting mixed with her ex boyfriend.

I just couldn't stand the character of FL's current boyfriend, the Doctor, who behaved like s player from the start, going on blind dates behind her back (while being in a relationship with the FL), desperately looking for his childhood love and then falling in love with that childhood love, while FL tried to stay by his side and tried to push her ex away.

Horrible story.

They should have just made the doctor and his childhood sweetheart the main leads then. I just cringed too much while watching this and it actually made me frustrated with who ever wrote the plot.

I wouldn't recommend it. Just no.

The Doctor ruined it for me. Maybe if another actor played his role I would actually have enjoyed this drama, but the fact that he (most of the time) just brushed everything with a smile like everything bad that happened between them was meaningless, like he didn't care if she believed him or not, he just gently smiled ... That annoyed me a lot. Maybe another actor would have portrayed his character better.

If what I wrote seems confusing plot-wise, trust me the drama is this messy and it doesn't make any sense.

A total trashy drama

If you are planning to cheat your BF (2 timer) you can get good idea’s. They should have kept drama name as DISCOVERY OF LUST NOT LOVE
After watching this drama I realised that even in Korean entertainment field also there are tr- - - y directors.
The total drama is a full of trash, may be for someone first love impact is more in live but having relationship with other and with lingering feeling with her ex is a s_ _ t character.
The FL character is total s- - t, after her ex appeared she always used to cheat and lie to her boyfriend, even after she realised that she is getting her feeling back, instead of avoiding him she keeps on nagging with him, taking his photographs secretly and each time telling lies to her boyfriend about her position.
Even after she agreed with her friend that she has feelings for her ex, again when second ML proposed her she accepted ring and said that she will never leave him and she will fight to stay with him.
When she saw(2nd ML) old friend was standing outside his home she couldn’t tolerate that and treated very harshly but she couldn’t understand the 2nd ML’s feelings about her actions with her ex, always she used to tell herself and to her friend that she will be committed to her present boyfriend, she loves him very much yet she used to cheat him, to celebrate her ex birthday she stayed with him till midnight and giving chances (signals) to persuade her.
Even after she knowing dumbing her present boyfriend is very cruel and he couldn’t survive, yet she decided to dump him and wanted to stay with his ex.
Of course, According to me she doesn’t deserve the second ML she deserved only that tr- - - y first ML because she is also a tr- - -h but at the end what the second ML got for loving her is total blush-t. This is not justified for him.
At the end she decides that in life other’s opinion on her is not important but only her happiness is, but the second ML life is like use and throw slipper for her

I thought i would like this series as much as I did with I Need Romance 2 since it has a similar storyline & also lots of good reviews. To be honest, I Need Romance 2 was a lot more interesting. I find the love story between the three main leads really boring. And the supporting character love story was too cheesy for my taste. I only finished this series because I thought it would get better.

Acting: The main leads were great, but the supporting characters acting was just decent.

Music: Not very memorable.

Rewatch Value- definitely 0/10.
