After several months, production company Kakao Entertainment has officially chosen the director for the upcoming K-drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
On February 18, it was officially confirmed that director Park Joon Hwa will helm the upcoming romance K-drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince. Although the director and main leads are officially confirmed, the filming period of the upcoming K-drama is still undecided.
The K-drama will be the reunion project of IU and Byeon Woo Seok.
Wife of a 21st Century Prince is set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy in Korea. The K-drama will explore the romance between two royals: a conglomerate heiress frustrated with her "commoner" status and the son of a king whose life is transformed after meeting her.
IU will play Sung Hee Joo, the second daughter of a conglomerate family. Blessed with beauty and intelligence, she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Despite her wealth, her commoner status becomes a significant obstacle in her life, and she eventually becomes entangled with the prince.
Byeon Woo Seok will portray Lee Ahn, the king's second son. While he holds the title of prince, he possesses little else of material value and conceals his true identity. His life is transformed after meeting Sung Hee Joo.
Wife of a 21st Century Prince will exclusively premiere on MBC.
This will be the follow-up work of director Park Joon Hwa since the 2024 series Love Your Enemy led by Ju Ji Hoon, Jung Yu Mi, Kim Ye Won, Lee Si Woo, Kim Gab Soo, and Joo Seok Tae.
The director is also known for creating the K-dramas Alchemy of Souls, Touch Your Heart, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Because This Is My First Life, Bring It On, Ghost, and more.
