Just to keep discussions going while we wait.

Do you think this scene will happen before the separation (fake death) or after they reunite?

I'm really hoping it happens before their separation but it seems more likely that it happens after. There is a scene where JCY and her are on a boat (not the one you linked) and he kinda gets close to her but she backs away shyly, based on that I feel like it might take their separation for her to finally express her feelings...just hoping that they don't drag it out because I want to see them as a happy couple.

The clip happening after reunion is how it seems most likely. But how heart gutting it would be for HWF to finally acknowledge her feelings for JCY only for them to suddenly be separated! That would make HWF's sadness and longing during separation be deeper and more logical than just her realizing when he's gone "oh, i fell for him but didn't get to tell him".

Yeah, that's part of the reason why I want them to become a couple before they get separated. It would mean a lot more for them and the audience as well.

I also think this will happen before their seperation too but then again we might be wrong

I would love them to acknowledge their feelings before the separation, but I am not hopeful. I think if the first kiss happens before their separation, it might be on impulse or due to drunkenness and most likely their separation is what will fully cause her to acknowledge her feelings.

If the pregnancy is included into the plot, then I'm inclined to lean towards them being intimate before the separation, but again probably on impulse or due to drunkenness...... Like say, on a night their wearing masks during a festival.

But I would LOVE for them to get together within the first few episodes and happily be wrong.

I think the pregnancy will be after he comes back from his fake death and I still really believe we won't also get a confession from her before then 😂 but then again I'M HAPPY TO BE WRONG LMAO

Not sure if they'll include that in the drama. TBH in the novel, that pretty much placed Dan Niang in seclusion away from a lot of the under currents of palace intrigues. Personally wouldn't mind if that only comes in the wrapping up episodes.

Yeah in the novel she wasn't involved much in politics and stuff

I hope they include the pregnancy at the end...they kept mentioning kids in s1...

Makes me wonder if they'll include the flash forward extra chapter where Liu Chang is being petty and the Jiang twins being the more cunning ones hahaha

Even  JCY in the novel was neutral with the princes vying for position while doing stuff for the older emperor. I liked the way they changed it in the drama to get them more involved while not making it too serious as other palace intrigue dramas so it feels still similar to the novel where it's part of the meal but not the main course. But based on the (melon) synopsis it's going to be a big arc in S2 much like the later part of the novel.

Yeahh, JCY  in the drama is very much involved in the palace intrigue and unlike the novel the emperor in the drama is young. I didn't really like the emperor in the novel but I do like san lang :)

I also like how they incorporated pan rong - lady bai marital issue into san lang in the drama. hwf as marriage counsellor hahaha

also in the novel, there was suddenly an illegitimate prince that had nothing to do with jcy-hwf except for buying lots of peonies and they were suddenly pushed into that whirlwind of intrigues.

i thank the screenwriter for the changes she made.

I agree. The way the drama is handling the 'rebellion' and JCY and Mudan's relation to it. I also love the Emperor in the drama.
