YQ is a dark character. I am only stating the facts :
Did he collude with Murong Xuan Lie, even though he knew that shu Muo's death was linked to Murong Xuan Lie? Yes, he did.,
Did he used the henchmen of Murong Xuan Lie to frame Murong Jing He for murdering 10 beauties ? Yes, he did.
Did he try to hide it from Mei Lin hoping that he could manipulate her in hating her beloved Prince Jing, because he wanted to still her love?
Yes, he did.
Did he try to make Mei Lin feel in debt with him from the very begining, offering her ( several times) the assistance of his henchmen to help her in her revenge. For the sole purpose of manipulating her into keeping the interaction with him?
Yes, he did.
(This is why Prince Jing did not want her to make any promises to YQ. And he said that he would repay YQ's favor in her stead.)
Did he try to force Mei Lin into marrying him, by negociating a "trade agreement" with the Emperor of great Yan, whereas he was colluding with the Xiyan's Priest to fake the Crown Prince election ceremony?
Yes he did.
(Again, he sole purpose was to take Mei Lin with him. He had to make her feel in debt with him for saving her life. Meanwhile, she had to come with YQ in Xiyan to avoid his father killing attempt. If the latter did'nt believe that YQ was the real reincarnetion of sun kunlun, YQ would have been killed by his own father long ago.)
Now Mei Lin and Yue Qin are in Xiyan.
The guy knows that Mei Lin is still completely in love with Murong Jing He.
What does he do :
First, he is following her everywhere she goes and he also asked his henchmen to do the same.
Secondly, he asked MRJH to never see her again ( let go of her) at the memorial ground.
(wich is weird, because MRJH is the governer of the city, his position might lead him to see her again)
Thirdly, he he harmed several maids, in the process of looking for a way to keep Mei Lin, knowing that she would never permit this kind of atrocities to take place because of her. Obviously, he knows it as well. So he chose to hide his crime (as usual) and lied to Mei Lin about her recovery.
Forthly, Mei Lin has discovered his crime. What is YQ's great idea???
Lock her up and harming her to suppress her martial arts skills and thus not keeping his promise of giving her freedom of choice.
To conclude YQ was always a dark character, who conceiled his misdeeds from the very begining. And only now, Mei Lin can see his real face.
Great observations. YQ is dark despite of his outward appearance. YQ's love for Mei Lin is not pure as it is tainted by selfishness and his need to control her. He fights for her through manipulation and cunning, not through honour. He is ultimately a weak person without a strong moral compass, so controlling someone is a demonstration of his power.

I totally great with you. You wonderfully analyzed his character traits. Although he was skilled at hiding his bad behaviour. The result of it is always bound the proof of his guilt. But he tricked some viewers. Some people were defending him and saying that I was painting him in a negative light o_O
I had to make a point. It is extraordinary that he even misled viewers. *sigh*

That's always been how "Green Tea Biotches" characters work--through manipulation and cunning and that's why I called him that from the very beginning. I figure that out the first few times he appeared, with his Shu muo. GreenTeaBiotches can never escape my eye, bwahaha.
What fascinated me about his version was the intent and the descent of his character, I'll elaborate more when his arc is finished.

Don't sweat it. I had the same problem pointing the manipulative stuff out about GreenTeaTuShanJing, bwahahahaha. Now HE was an entirely version of Green Tea, but just as cunning and destructive to relationships he wanted.
sansoleil83:I look forward to your analysis of Green Tea. 2ML often have an unenviable role - quite often the most hated character but sometimes on the rare occasion are very beloved.
Well, there is a difference between Green Teas and just plain great 2MLs! I am TEAM Xiang Liu from wayyyyyy back ten years ago when I first read Lost You Forever. Had cried tears for him for months, then repeated the whole heartbreak again last year while watching Tan JianCi's amazing portrayal of that amazing character.
There was also the Emperor's Uncle played by Xiao Zhan in Oh My Emperor with Xiao LuSi. I wanted HIM to by the ML and so did millions. Xiao Zhan wasn't famous at that point (nor was LuSi) and so the Second Male Lean Syndrome wasn't manufactured by his obsessive fandom now.
So a good 2ML could be delicious to a drama!

I would be happy to read you take on this character. Your observation skills are shap enough to recognize deception or duplicity when you see it. Great. But some people are totally oblivious. I have to thank the actor for his performance. He did a great job as a villain. And I even heard that they cut a lot of his scenes. He finished filming , almost as the same time as the leads. Too bad. We would have seen him get even more darker. I hope we see those scenes someday.

In "Lost You forever" I was Team Xiang Liu too. I was amazed to see a story where the Male Lead was treated as a supporting cast by the writer. Unfortunately I never read the novel. I only watched the drama this year. Tan JianCi blew me away with is rendition. He only had 7% screentime on S1 and 14% screentime on S2. But he outshined all the other Male Leads.
If only we had more stories like this one. (*_*) =<3

I have not brought myself to watch Oh My Emperor purely because I know I will want XZ to be male lead and will suffer from SML syndrome.
Both XZ and LXY are late bloomers by C-ent standards and their rise to success has been bumpy. They are both mature actors and bring that maturity to their roles, which is nice.

Have seen much praise for TJC in Lost You Forever - must put on watch list.
