I'm not disappointed with KMLM. Before I started watching I made a pact with myself: not to compare it to The Double (which I love) even though it has WJY as the main FL. The Double has its own shape. KMLM too, it’s another world. I don't expect ML to be XFF, I don't expect MJH to be Duke Su, I don't expect CP to be Wanning, I don't expect Yue Qin to be SYR, I don't expect more or less cruelty or romance, I don't expect to find similarities between the plots nor between the revamped plot and the novel. I prepared myself to see something new. If I compare all the time, I won't be able to absorb new stories, with different rhythms, with doses of hate and love perfect for their context, with characters and their moral attire and emotional load in accordance with the plot's proposals. I'm loving every moment of KMLM because I just let its universe flows in me without making comparisons all the time. It would be like taking a trip to Yunnan and comparing it to New York. The key word is 'context'. Do not be prejudiced against Fairy Tales: these ancient tales continue to be a source for universal creation and studies of psychology and behavior. This desire for a happy ending comes from no other source than Fairy Tales. KMLM gains value by drinking from this source. KMLM surprised me because it clearly drank from this source...

I never tire of applauding your comments.👏👏👏👏✍️
Bit confused about the Mombai poison. As the master of shadow works, Jing He clearly has an antidote for its mombai warriors to relieve their poison each time they successfully complete a task. Why didn’t Jing He just give her the antidote instead of asking General Yin for the red coix seed??
And as it so happens, Mei Lin ends up finding it on her own and consumes it. But the doctor later reveals that it won’t eliminate the poison completely due to her weak constitution and Mei Lin’s death date in a year’s time has become certain if she does not obtain another antidote composed of rare medicinal compounds.
Now I’m that assuming the original antidote for mombai warriors that the ShadowWorks Master has won’t be effective anymore on Mei Lin as she has already consumed the red coix seeds. Hence, we wait for the doctor to find the ingredients for the new antidote. But why didn’t Jing He just give her the antidote originally instead of wanting to give her the red coix seeds?
I feel like he gave her something different from what is normally given because initially he intended for her to die. She wasn't supposed to survive.
asian_things
That’s a good point! But what’s the point of giving Mei Lin a slightly different poison, if at the time he knew that nonetheless that red coix seeds could detoxify the poison anyway. Or so he thought~
CSS1234
Hide Spoilershe was the only one he ever poisoned. the whole idea was to frame Zhang Yin who had his army of Mobai warriors. That’s why he doesn’t have the antidote - he thought the chifuzi would be enough but it turned out her constitution was unsuitable.
unbeliebubble
Hide SpoilerMRJH never had the antidote. He was faking it, when he said that she could comeback after the mission. Because he already knew that, a killing attempt on a Prince would lead Mei Lin to a death penalty.
It was a suicide mission from the start.
When she told him that, she owned a proof of the arson. He had to save her at any cost.
When Murong Jing He first appearances on red Amor with mask definitely not liu xue yi. Is stuntman. As you can see the difference on body figure and hand is big. As liu xue yi hand is like a women and too Bai.
I wonder why they would need a stuntman for that. Doesn't look difficult to ride that horse and I have seen shots of LXY riding real horses before so I am sure he knows how.
May be to speed up the shooting process. Body double can be used where the actor isn't facing the camera. That's a common trick in many dramas.
eliteles1 VIP
Liu Xue Yi's hand is much larger than Wu Jin Yian's. It is a man's hand and well proportioned. He is not the only man who has this kind of body proportion. (The actor from Ten Miles Peach Blossoms, Aka= Eternal Love, reminds me a lot of Liu Xue Yi's body proportion, including his hands.)🎞️🤔✍️
eliteles1 VIP
Did you know that Liu Xue Yi's thumb is more rounded at the tip of the finger than people's hands normally are? That's why they always hide his thumb in scenes. When they put the corpse in to replace Murong Jing, his thumb was normal, so it would be hard for the story to convey this context if the camera focused too much on Liu Xue Yi's thumb. Fans always joke about this.🎞️🔍🔎💡
PS:
In addition to another peculiarity: He is allergic to horse hair and flower pollen. (It's even ironic that he is the male lead of 4 dramas that have the word flower in the title). In addition to LNFails, he plays the god of flowers. (And KLM refers to flowers all the time).
Now I know why Luo Mei said that he wasn't dead at the shuyan hunt :
she didn't recognize his thumb ^^
Interesting😃
By the way why do they like to focus on hands in historical dramas?
eliteles1 VIP
I realize that many emotions are expressed with the hands. Look at the scene of Luo Mei, when she hides her anger, the camera focuses on her hands twitching. (This effect is often used in Chinese dramas.)✍️🎞️🤔
@eliteles1 Noticed on The Red Sleeve too.
eliteles1 VIP
@Nahlabee4 I don't understand. Red Sleeve???
Because the hand is our second speech, the hands are members of an enormous expressive capacity, see for example all the details of the hands in ballet (and in Chinese ballet, so delicate, subtle, so poetic!), in Indian and Arabic dances. The child has a deepest relationship with the mother's hand, in addition to expressiveness and its ability to communicate, the hand has its own energy in touch and in the transmission of this warmth that gives a sense of place and security to the child and anyone of us. Hands are capable of an infinite repertoire of gestures and Poetry.
@eliteles1 It’s a historical kdrama about Yi San. Based on true story.
Very good drama.
eliteles1 VIP
Ahhh ! Thank you for the information.✍️💡😊
Nothing is The Double 😂. It’s incomparable. Look how many episodes I broke down the dialogue for its puns and wordplay!
Totally incomparable! The Double is a classic that is already in the anthology of Chinese cinematographic production because of its artistic value. KMLM does not have this type of proposal, but it brings very interesting themes that are relevant to contemporary life. It's always an honor to have the CEO of The Double Agency here in my comments! 😂
When it comes to historical drama, I’ve noticed that, the lesser the kisses and sensuality there is, the more epic the story is and with depth and intensity.
On the contrary, the more kisses there are and bedroom scenes , the lesser the depth and intensity of the story. To even border line mediocrity.
Just an observation.
you are so right though 😩
eliteles1 VIP
I don't think "Kill me love me" is mediocre at all, it's more of a hidden gem.🌺✍️🎞️
I don’t think it is too. I haven’t seen depth and intensity either though.
eliteles1 VIP
Well, these are different perspectives. I think the depth and intensity are shown in a particular way in this drama. All the intensity put in the first few episodes is balanced by the slower pace in the later episodes. This is intentional. It is a bit like imitating real life (sometimes it is something very simple, seemingly without fire or importance), but if you look closely, there is beauty and important meaning being conveyed. Different dramas will arrange the plot at the pace that the writers find appropriate to tell the story. I think there is a purpose here, and the paces will alternate throughout the drama.

In the trailer, the ML seems like having a hidden disease as well?
eliteles1 VIP
Mei Lin or Male lead ?
Akiharu86
Male lead, sorry for the confusion.eliteles1 VIP
Hide SpoilerYes, he also suffers from a seemingly incurable disease. This is in the book. Just as he wants Mei Lin to find a cure for her disease, she also wants him to be cured. She will risk her life to mix her blood/martial energy with the jade flower. They both need this flower to be cured (this is in the book), but in the drama there are photos and videos of the two of them with the jade flower (dragon flower in the drama), wearing it on their heads.
- Hide Spoiler
Thank you, I guess correctly then. The jade flower only grows in Xiyan? Or maybe SML obtain it already?
eliteles1 VIP
Hide SpoilerIn the book, it is the healer who tells how to proceed to apply the cure. (In the book, the male lead is sometimes a bit selfish, risking Mei Lin's life to save his own). I think this selfishness, in the drama, will not happen like that. And as for the place, I don't remember this scene in the drama. I would have to watch it again.
Hide Spoiler
Is it happened in the novel as well? Just curious.
I guess, the reason for FL goes to Xiyan in the future episode is to safe the ML?
Hide Spoiler(I guess, the reason for FL goes to Xiyan in the future episode is to safe the ML?)
Ummm, that must be it. (Because she will take Yue Qin hostage, and then jump off the cliff again. Soon after, Jing He jumps off the cliff after her. And then a kiss by the lake, which is in the music video for Liu Xue Yi.
People disappointed by this:
"Our assassin has transformed into a caring and homely ML."
"Our sadomasochistic prince is now an attentive lover"
Do you think so too? I have another argument:
"Our loving and homely ML turned into an assassin to avenge her parents, but returned to her roots when she found love." Her nature was always decent, she was always a family girl. What's wrong with ML going back to being what she always was, the ordinary village girl, who worked at the cake shop, together with her mother? ML was brutalized by the tragedy, but did not lose her love for her values.
MJH went through the same process, the crippled, resentful, and rude prince was beaten, wronged and humiliated, but before he was a hero of his kingdom, his mother's pride, he accepted his mother's request to marry. What's wrong with him going back to his origins?
KMLM is a story of resurrection not for revenge (which hasn't happened yet), but for love, which came first...
Well said!!

I see a lot of people disappointed about the way the show is going and how it seems Mei Lin is not the same assassin that was first introduced. People are disappointed that it seems she has changed and not a "bad azz" assassin anymore. I feel like many have misunderstood her character/who she is as a person.
Here's her character from my understanding:
Firstly, we know Mei Lin is an assassin. But she's an assassin with one goal and one goal only: Assassinate MRJ and avenge her people. She trained for 10 years just for this. We never hear about her assassinating anyone else. She only had one goal. Kill MRJ.
Secondly: She came to fulfill her goal and get revenge. But on this journey, she found proof that MRJ is not the killer of her people. As an assassin, her goal changed: join hands with MRJ, find the real killer and avenge her people. She is doing that currently.
Thirdly: She is currently on her mission for revenge. Yes, she fell in love on the way, but that doesn't mean she gave up revenge. Every steps her and MRJ are taking is for their ultimate revenge.
Back to why I think you've misunderstood her core character: yes, Mei Lin is an assassin. But from episode one, we've also been shown that she's a soft soul. When not being an assassin (or protecting people), she's a very simple person who dreams of a good simple life for herself. Even in her interactions with others, you can see how easy going, straightforward and simple she is. She smiles easily, and enjoys friendships. She cherish those close to her.
Her goal has always been revenge and living a simple life afterwards. Her character has not strayed from her core personality introduced since episode 1. Her character has been consistent. So her falling in love does not mean she's not a "bad azz assassin" anymore.
The Mei Lin you are seeing right now is the Mei Lin she's always been. It's just that, that side of hers was sometimes hidden because she had to shoulder everything herself. Now she doesn't have to because she has someone else to help her with her revenge. So we are seeing her true self (soft soul) more and more. IMO, She is a well rounded character.❤️
We have to judge the show as a whole, as one entity. Not just episode by episode❤️

For me, it's mostly that the trailers gave off a completely different vibe compared to what we actually got.
Oh yea, that makes sense! That's Youku's fault for doing that.
I have noticed their marketing for this show sucks💀 I get it, they are trying to draw viewers in, but they are going about it the wrong way😭eliteles1 VIP
The first trailer, yes, but not the 5 trailers as a whole. The trailers even reveal too much, trying to avoid misunderstanding the audience.

I am really happy with the Mei Lin we got. I would have been annoyed with her if she spent most of the episodes trying to kill the wrong person. Also she has constantly used her skills, they wouldn’t have survived the snow without her vigilantly looking out for danger only sleeping when they were safe.
I have given up understanding why, really. tbh some people just want a drama to fit their expectations and when it doesn't they bail. fair enough. I prefer to take a drama on its own terms and see what they offer. to me I love almost everything about it. I don't care if it strikes my trope fancy - I love that it's such a good production, with good actors (Liu Xueyi is outstanding) and the story pretty tight. is it perfect? of course not, but it's giving me joy.
