Been watching Caged Again and although I have had my contention with aspects of the series, which I still do, it has it's cute moments and I'm just letting myself watch it for what it is. Those cute moments are very brief and fleeting, but there are some cute moments to enjoy — so far. The two friends, Jodd and Jeng, are good supports. Ben(Sun) is kinda hit and miss for me, and I'm just not feeling the connection or chemistry from him towards Jay, whereas, Jay does have that toward Ben making it a strange one-sided thing. Jay is absolutely adorable and killing it as Junior, and he is stealing the entire series for me.
I also decided to dive into Our Youth and give it a try. I'm loving it and I'm all in. I tend to have a love hate relationship with JBLs. I just don't connect with them as well as I do Thai, Taiwanese, and Korean BLs(in that order). If you were to look at my watched list, they are practically non-existent lol. I do want to enjoy more JBLs, but it's just so hard for me to find ones that I like. I've tried many and just can't get into most. This one though is fantastic and I'm hooked.
RXinw:
I saw a TikTok edit of Ticket to Heaven using Lana Del Rey's song Young and Beautiful and it really hits in the feels. This series has not even dropped yet and already it has fans in a choke-hold. Out of all the new series announced this one has been the most talked about (at least that has been my experience).
I just went to take a look at the trailer for it. I will watch anything with Fourth & Gemini. Just by the trailer I can see how they killed it in this and taking their acting to a new level together—something more mature(although this was not at all what I ever imagined or expected lol). I'm so glad to see them in something that's not in a school again lol.
That said I'm not a fan of the Christian theme and how much it's quoting bible verses and the whole aspect of being gay is problematic and a sin yadda yadda. I hated western gay media for just this reason. I grew up in that Catholic Christian environment and still deal with that shit with family to this day. I also said to myself, who the hell is this for, because Thailand and is barely over 1% Christian. So, I'm here like maybe this is a decision by GMMtv to target a western audience to try to expand the BL market and grab western audiences. I don't know if that's their intent or not, but I feel like it has to be. So, if that's the case then I'm behind it for that reason.
I would love to see western countries, especially the US, discover the wealth of the BL genre that we all love and have been enjoying for some time now. I find it so hard to find people here in the US, especially gay guys, that even know this genre even exists or that it's this robust with content that's so amazingly different and better than anything we're given in the west. If there is any pair that can sell this series and captivate an entire new market from the west, it would be Fourth and Gemini. I will be watching it for them no doubt.
