Scissor Hands

Until I started watching kdrama roughly 9 years ago, I had never known of or seen Scissor Hands. I'm in the USA. Now everytime a photo is taken in a kdrama everybody does scissor hands.


Anybody know the origin of this gesture? What is it supposed to mean--if anything? How long has this been going on? And most of all, why?

I know it as the "victory sign" since it looks like a "V" but here you can find more about its meanings
