Sometimes I feel like I am the only person in the USA that watches and appreciates the Asian culture and dramas.  Are there others that are afraid to come out of the closet like me?

Hey,

I’m from the USA and I share an appreciation!!  I have a strong love for Chinese dramas I wish we had a drama convention here so I could meet other like minded people.

That would be nice.  I have no one who wants to listen to my stories and they are more honorable and clean than almost any shows from Us

Agreed. I don’t even watch U.S. shows that much anymore lol

the rule of thumb is when you think you are the only one, you are not.

then again i dont live in the same enviroment as you, people i know either dont care, a weebs, or koreanboo. lol.

I’m from the U.S. and just recently started (since Feb 2019) watching KDrama,  I’m totally addicted to it. I rarely watch America programs as I find it pretty much boring, especially the reality shows. Even when it comes to music. I’ve made the switch from American music artist to KPop which I feel is so far ahead in music than in the U.S.

There are times where I feel like I was born in the wrong country lol

You are not alone! ????

the only people i've met who also like asian dramas, are ones who i've introduced dramas to xD but even then, they didn't become as addicted as i did haha (I also was born/live in the US but parents were born in Mexico so I'm mexican-american)  but i would LOVE to meet someone one day who also watches asian dramas and we discover it by accident. only american shows i watch now are chicago pd and the 100 (lol though i have a whole season to catch up on, on both) i used to watch lots of different english speaking shows from everywhere like the US, australia, UK, and a couple spanish speaking ones but i was getting so sick of how disappointing they'd make me feel in the end by how they seemed to encourage & uplift immorality and shows rarely finished as good as they started, with each season getting worse and worse... and don't get me started on the longggggg wait between seasons or the mid-season finales those SUCKED lol

I understand. My family accused me of watching Asian porn. I told them if you got a kiss it was a major thing in the dramas   I wait until they end and binge watch. My husband and I are retired school teachers with 2 grandbabies so life is kind of slower. I enjoy finding a good one and not wanting to put it up.  I live in Arkansas.

I also like to wait until the end so I can binge watch. It bugs me to have to wait for new episodes to be subbed. It is nice being retired so I can do that and my hubby doesn’t mind because he has his own hobbies. :)

My hubby is a sports fanatic. So I love sitting in the room with him and watch my dramas on my laptop.

I'm not orig from the US but live in the US now and have since I was a kid. I have always enjoyed watching international shows but probably in the last year or so have become an asian drama addict. I definitely don't even watch American shows anymore really! lol. I must say though that viki took things to another level for me. Finding the streaming app was the best thing ever! Being able to comment with other people watching the show and actually seeing what they think about the different scenes makes it that much more enjoyable.

I was very much of a book worm and too much into studies when I was a kid. Working a 12 hour job with 2 kids to take care of, I never could spend any time watching tv( I was not much interested in the local dramas). Then came a time when I was forced to take a sabbatical and I had so much time on my hands that I didn't know what to do. Thank God I read a news article about how kdramas have become popular and it changed my life and I never look back. Now I am wondering how to cope without dramas once I go back to work. I live in New Jersey.

Another addict from the USA! I had major surgery in January 2019 and watched TMOPB on Netflix and became hooked.  I started out on Chinese dramas and then dipped my toes into the Korean drama world. Have since watched dramas from Taiwan and Thailand.  I only watch a few US and British shows. Haven’t converted anyone yet that’s why I joined MDL so I wouldn’t be alone either! My husband just smiles and shakes his head as he walk by hearing Chinese or Korean.  He’s rarely heard me laugh and never seen me cry with US shows but I’ve done both with these lovely dramas.  I love the romance and bromance of Asian dramas.  Fighting! (Not really sure how the Koreans use this term but I’m translating here as go team!)

I started watching in 2014 when I was recovering  from  diverticulitis.  The first one I watched was one from Taiwan then the Korean Flower Boy’s.  I was hooked.  There is a certain kind  I like, the serious romance is my favorite and some with a little comedy.  Not the really silly comedy.
