I've just been reading there's a shortage of potato chips in Japan (due to low potato harvest). Supposedly people are panic buying and the shelves are empty. However, I've also read a lot of comments from people in Japan saying it's exaggerated.

Does anyone know whether it's true or not?

Definitely exaggerated, but the prices have gone up and a few varieties of chips are sold out. There seems to be maybe 70-80% of the regular stock on the shelves.
