In the end there will be no other way for Shunji except the death in my opinion... He was very mean towards Mok Dan as well. Moreover when she wanted to shot him in the forest he surprised why... Once Shunji loved Mok Dan. And now he doesn't even realize his students...
Kang To has already regret his sins when his brother died. But hwe was also very mean. I'm glad that more or less he changed.
no, i haven't forgot how Kang To was at the beginnig he was "My hateful hero" back then, i don't mind it if it's Kang To because like i said he was "my hateful hero" : means he was bad then became good but Shunji was like an angel at the beginning but now he's the devil itself!
RainFlower wrote: I too am perplexed by Shunji's total character reversal....I expected it to be less marked, its like he is a totally different person now......or maybe he was always this way & the goody two shoes teacher was the fake persona ...who knows.....
Jeaniessi wrote: I ultimately view total Shunji's character reversal is the result of a weak mind and character. His jealousy of his friend, the pressure from his father, his inability to handle his own desires and disappointments...dire though they might be. It is as if that weakness had driven him around the bend. At first he seemed strong in character and ideals but at the first sign of a true test and tragedy, (his brother's death and father nearly disowning him) that strength collapsed and there has been no turning back since. Now I think he's just insane.
I'm still behind you guys but that seems to be the path he is heading down...like an out of control bullet train.
purplenette wrote: I feel the same as you. At first I was just put off by his change and found it unrealistic. If you look at the fact that Kang To had
anger through helplessness, then you can better understand Shunji's path. As sad as it was for Kang To it also gave him strength now that he has something to fight for and doesn't feel like he is helpless. Shunji is just going backward. He was fine as long as he could live a peaceful life, but now that all this chaos has happened and he feels helpless to do anything about it, he lashes out in anger. Plus I think he has really lost his mind at this point. It wasn't that many episodes before that I thought Kang To was crazy.
If you compare Shunji's character at the beginning and now, you would refuse the idea that he's the same person, yet i agree about what you guys said, hardships are way too hard on him , i exspected the character changings but he have took it to the very wrong dangerous level (Jean unni, you have to watch the 13th and 14th episode to understand what i meant about "wrong dangerous level, by then you will wish for his death !)
Btw, i have to point that Kang To and Shunji's character's chagings are too damn awesome, it does give the drama another spirit !

iunno i really cant blame shinji for the way he is right now ... its like everything went wrong, his family, the one he loves and his bff. thru out the show i can see he wants to believe KT but everything just went against it. I think i would go crazy too if my so called bff betrays me

Come on unni have you seen the way he was cold heartedly torturing leader Jo? Even Goiso couldn't bear with it! not to mention the way he was stabbing a dead body and beating an officer until he was almost dead ! He became so freaking evil ! He should die and believe me at some point of the drama he's going to die (near the ending though) and by then he will regret it when no regrets are allowed :D

i sawww, but as much as i hate him i pity him too. Obsession can change a person dramatically
This is exactly the same what i was going to write. You're right. Shunji's real self was when he could teach children. He just forced into this thing by his father. I think he is incompetent in this field he knew it very well. That's why he wanted to be a teacher. Now he cannot handle his own power.. That's why he gives crazy commands...

Kang To was also kind of crazy at the beginning, but he was like that because he had no other way out of his misery. I mean see he even asks Dam Sa Ri why it is worth living as freedom fighters. He wanted to always be good. A guy who earned money as a rikshaw puller just to help his big brother with his studies.
The little flashbacks to his past just show what a person he usually is. He was a good guy from the beginning, but life made him the way he was. Now he is back to his trueself.
As for Shunji somehow it seems like his was always the cruel guy to hang on to some person no matter what. Like how he tries to help his Nanny. I mean if you look at it the life for that Nanny was always hell. She was never really accepted as a true human, but Shunji is clinging on to her and not letting her get away from that life.
Why didn´t he want to be a policeman in the beginning? I think its not really because he didn´t want to hurt ppl or just teach the petty Joseon kids, but just to flee his dads and bros influence. A guy with that good fighting skill would never be fully pleased with being a nice teacher.
The more I think about it the more I believe that Shunji was an ass from the beginning. He was just good in hiding it by acting as the good japanese guy. Now it is all out of control.

I also can´t wait for the next eps.

u might be right but i kinda feel like ppl are hating and thinking negative of him cuz he is the bad guy. i just feel like i can understand why he is pulled into this position.
