Overall, what we have now is a serie of very unhealthy "love" connections. With the exception of Choco and the guy she's in love with, all those characters are screwed up, if not completely crazy. And while in real life crazy people do exist, having them all gathered in the same drama is beyond believable and truly annoying. Frankly, I couldn't care less how this ends. A tragic ending would be highly predictable, and a happy one wrapped up in the last minutes a surprising one, but unsatisfying nonetheless, because these people seem to have learnt nothing from their past experiences and run in circles like dogs biting their tails.
As for messed up screwy people all being found together like this, I think I've become way more attuned for such things since I started watching Kdrama melos. That's not to say that it doesn't bother me (Start rant: seriously, messed up people!! howwww could allllll these people be so evil and/or twisted or just have NO idea what they want to do with their lives!! End rant) Still, I'm used to it now that it's not typically reason enough to stop watching a drama, or even to fault a drama for.. given, that I'm still watching a genre with the word 'melo-drama' in it.

The only thing I am truly not liking about this show is Park Si Yeon. Her acting and her completely unbelievable character. Who, in true Korean Drama Fashion, will probably have little or no consequence for her actions or her CRAZY.
I think I'm also a glutton for punishment. For the entire first half I truly enjoyed Maru going down this crazy twisted path. Couldn't wait to see him get his punishment in the end. But I want that punishment to be for us all to get to see Maru's heart breaking for love of Eun Gi, who clearly is going to do something twisted now in return.
Unfortunately, this wish on my part is exasperated by my sincere desire NOT to see Eun Gi take her revenge.. where are all those nice little flash back scenes directors love to give us, reminding Eun Gi of all the times Maru told her he hoped she would never remember, or that she would think differently of him when she did remember, or that they should wait to make important life decisions for After she remembers... I'm waiting for those moments. And in the meantime, I'm going to try and not predict the end.. I seriously don't know how this will all turn out.. I just hope it'll be good.

The writer/s are the same as I'm Sorry I Love You. and Maru reminds me of Moo Hyuk as well. Not as intense as Moo Hyuk but still...
And I said earlier that those writers love to bring on the PAIN. I do not see a happy ending here. although, I would like some happy. :/
amrita828 wrote: Very well put, Becca. And believe me, it's not you who aren't able to read a complex character: Eun Gi IS a badly written character. And if I may, she is quite badly portrayed too. Mind you, I'm not saying this is the actress's fault, these are usually direction choices. Whatever it is, if you take the time and watch some episode stills you'll easily find out that she displays a couple of expressions only in the whole drama.
A complex character does not translate in the viewer not understanding. On the contrary, the complexity of it is in the way the viewer gets to the point while the fictional characters grope in the dark. This plot lingers on starry glances expecting us to feel something, but if we are supposed to feel for this totally irrational woman just because Ma Ru loves her, I'm afraid it failed big time, with me at least. In fact, it makes me dislike Ma Ru too, because I don't understand his reasons either. It already disturbed me that he came out of jail with too mild a change: a small spray of cinicism and that's it. I condoned the drama at that point because there was still plenty of time for development and character insight. But the whole time I have been left to wonder: what is his plan? Why doesn't he plan his revenge a little more, instead of just threatening left and right and "declaring" he's a badass, when all we see is a broken toy with a death wish?
Now it's too late to go in that direction. He's making the same mistake he did with Jae Hee: loving the wrong woman and wishing to protect her to the point of self-destruction.

LMBO!! I couldn't agree more.
Now that I think about it my disappointement in this drama began when I realized that Ma Ru won't guide a revenge plot; at the beginning, I didn't care about his feelings for Jae Hee because I thought that he would come back to his senses and plan a great strategy that would make me jump off my seat but the story took the wrong turn: No revenge plus Ma Ru didn't change he only fell in love with Eun Gi yet he still wants to die so what's the point? I began this drama with a lot of hopes, I expected a great cliffhangers and breathtaking plot changes but so far the only events that I care about are Choco and that man's relationship, seeing Lawyer Park sweet face and some kisses that seemed good to watch. Oh and let's not forget Joong Ki's butt and face.
I still have 10% of hope that the next episodes will surprise me while the other 90% tells me that I should stop dreaming and accept the freaking reality that after this drama I will lose my "drama mood" and go through a DRAMA-SLUMP.

Then I am shallow too because Joong Ki is the only reason that's making finish this drama.
About PSY, Jeani unni you have to join the club of her haters!! As the drama began, we formed "PSY haters" and the main members are me and Lis-ssi. Well, we hate her as an actress because she always have one and only stupid expression on her face.
Here, she's one of the main reasons that keep this drama going.

So they have the same writer/s? And I've been wondering why do they look so similar!
Jeani unni, keep a 5% hope, don't give up! Or maybe we should call them like the woman from Reply 1997 *who called the writer day and night to change the drama's ending? We state our reasons and maybe they will have a kind heart and listen to us like she listened to her and changed the ending*

I haven't minded her up until this drama but her character is horrid and beyond stupid. Her acting is not good. There are other, superficial things about her that bug me but I'll keep those to myself as they are kind of mean. LOL

I loved that mother in Reply 1997. Hell, I loved everything about that show.

You made me curious (I love hearing mean things especially about PSY). I want to know now! at least post them in my profile, none cares if two haters are talking mean things about an actress.

It was great indeed.

Okay here it is... I can't stand looking at her plastic surgery face. have you noticed it's lopsided? When you look at her the left side is rounder then the right side. You can see the surgery all over her face. and her lips are weird too. LOL
I know there are a lot of other Kdrama actors who've had surgery and some of it has been botched badly (see Philip Lee and What's her evil face in Arang) but we're just talking about PSY here. LOL
I think Moon Chae Won and Song Joong Ki are doing a great job portraying their characters, even if the script is a little....messy. And no, the genre being a "melo" doesn't excuse the awful writing of characters and plot. I have watched melos and they were really messed up but at least they made sense. With this one I'm feeling like the character's personalities change by the episode. The plot goes in circles and every character is crazy. I don't mind crazy characters, but at least they should HAVE a reason to be crazy. Here it's like everyone is crazy and that's it.
I do see why Ma Ru fell in love with Eun Gi, their crey crey bring them together, but the story doesn't make any sense at all.
As for PSY, I don't hate her, but she clearly isn't a good enough actress to portray Jae Hee. And as for the character itself, I love hating her.

Especially the lips!! And don't remind me of that botox lady in Arang; her face was a pain to look at.

Yes, MC and JK are good actors but their characters are beyond messed up especially Eun Gi's, I told you before that my patience level is becaming so low when she's on screen. Again, it's all the script writers fault , it's not them to blame.
I like this expession "I love hating her."
On a side note: I want Lawyer Park for myself, he's too gorgeous for anyone in that drama :D
Eun Gi and the actress who plays her...
I like Eun Gi. I liked her better when she was *****y with a soft inner core. I want to go back to that. I want the crazy soup of revenge between her and Maru to be cleared up so they can work together to bring down Jae Hee. Not 4 more episodes of Eun Gi exacting revenge on Maru... Please writers! Please????
I think she has been expressionless in these last episodes since the brain damage. (I refuse to call it amnesia) I am hoping she comes back to herself now that she remembers.
The writers are a little over the top for my taste but over all I still like this show and the characters (except for Jae Hee). I even like her messed up brother!
Now that I think about it, I think that I don't specially like any character, but I am liking the show. It's like watching a train wreck happening. You know it's creepy but you still can't take your eyes away of the disaster.
And yes, I like Jae Hee's brother. Like I said earlier, I think he will tourn out good in the end.
On another more cheerful note, I love Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won together. They have a lot of chemistry and watching the footage of the show behind the scenes always gives me the fuzzies :)

That's all I can think about; that was bugging me the whole time!!
That brother is one of my appreciated characters in this drama, he even made Jae Gil kiss Choco: It was a great scene.

Don't raise your hopes up, my friend. He still has to waver a lot of those daisies. However, it's true he deserves better, so I'd say you can have him. ;);)
And I agree melodrama does not mean totally irrational. Since this drama reminds me of Bad Guy, I may mention it as an example of well written, melodramatic plot. There we had an assembly of crazy people too, and a mountain of injustice, but the hero was extremely consistent, the heroine wasn't a good person per se, but she moved and grew, the revenge plot was worth of this name and although most didn't like the ending, it made perfect sense.
So it seems I'm the only one who doesn't really hate Jae Hee (the actress I didn't even know before, so I have nothing to comment about). She is mean and deranged, but since I have my hands full with despising the heroine whom I am supposed to support, Jae Hee's evilness does not shine as it should. :p
You will laugh but my main concern is this: what's going to happen to Jae Hee's child? He doesn't deserve to become an orphan and his step-sister certainly doesn't deserve him. I honestly hope Jae Hee goes away somewhere with her son and start living some kind of normal life. I think I started hating Eun Gi when she treated the child so badly: it's the kind of behaviour I can't excuse, no matter what.

That child can be Choco and Jae Gil's adoptive son; I assume they will be very good with the child :D
