She is improving as an actress, but it all still seem a bit fake to me. In the woods, the silent tear on kang chi 's cheek seemed more sincere than her loud sobs. But I won't go as far as saying she is a bad actress, she can have her moments. I just wish that her acting could be deeper and more intense when necessary.

That's why a more mature actress was needed in this drama. I don't hate Suzy that much but this type of role doesn't suit her much.

Exactly. And if it had to be a young actress, someone like IU would have been way better at the job.

Too bad she s already busy being awesome in You're the Best Lee Soon Shin.

I agree and disagree, it seems the writing for her character isn't all that mature anyways.
Well, a mature actress could've done the job better and by saying mature, I mean a better actress not an old one.

a mature actress can portray an immature character in a way that makes it lovable and interesting, but an immature actress can ruin any character, however well-written...

I just saw episode 16, and I loved it, once again !

I thought Cheong Jo was going to meddle in the romance, but thanks God she didn't.

I'm still wondering what Wol Ryung is up to. He obviously doesn't want him dead otherwise he would have done it long ago. I really think he wants to acknowedge him as his son, but is repelled by Kang Chi's desire to become human, which reminds him of his own failure. That's why he wants his to give up and live as a divine creature.

I'm sort of on his side on this: I want Kang Chi to see that being a gumiho (or half-gumiho) isn't just about having a beast inside him, but that there are other side of it. He already started to see how cool it can be to master the elements.

If he is ready to give up his dream of becoming human, the drama could end up with the town accepting him as some kind of mystic protector, Both fathers getting redemption, his mother taking Cheong Jo back to Japan with her, and Yeo Wol and Kang Chi living happily ever after.
Only the evil dude will die in a lot of pain.... and maybe Gon Yi (even tough I don't want to, I kind of think he'll end up giving his life to protect Yeo Wol somehow...)

The ending of episode 16 was awesome, with Yeo Wol getting kidnapped by what seems to be Wol Ryung (I really hope the writers will keep it this way and won't make it the other evil dude's doing...I really want more WR scenes!) and the identity of Kang Chi's mother is slowing starting to be revealed.

Can't wait for next week !
Are you saying Suzy is ruining this character, because by all means shes making this character seem pretty loveable.

I too think that Suzy is pretty adorable here; in fact, this is my favorite role of hers. I don't normally like the female roles as much, so I'm not sure where all the hate on Suzy is coming from. I think she is playing the role very well, and she's my favorite female in the show except for Soo-Ryun.
Love that OST

I wasn't talking about Suzy here, this was more like a general opinion.

I already said that I like her acting when it comes to sweet and comical scenes, but that I don't find that her character fit her current state of maturity as an actress.

She is only 18 ans is still a bit shallow in her acting. No doubt that with time and experience, she will improve considerably. Yeo Wol is a lovable character, and Suzy bring smiles and cheerfulness and freshness into this drama and that's a very good thing.

But in more serious scene I feel that Suzy is having a hard time bringing the emotion and intensity Yeo Wol's character is supposed to have sometimes.

When she learns that her father is responsible for the death of Kang Chi's father, she was supposed to be first angry and then shocked, to eventually burst into tears in Kang Chi's arms. The anger part was shallow and messy, the shock part was good ( I really liked that part) but the crying part felt forced and a bit fake.

Another scene that needed more intensity was the fight in her father office. She is forcefully engaged to a man she doesn't love and accuse her father of the murder of Kang Chi's father, saying he doesn't want them to be together because of his own guit. She actually have a line where she say to his father that she will never marry someone else than Kang Chi. Obviously in the original script we were going for a pretty intense discussion. And what did we get ? A fight between a father and a bratty teenage girl with a frozen face. And in the end - because we have to understand how sad she is - she collapses on the floor. The lack of emotions in her acting during the fight made that last move completely ridiculous.

All the sweet and comical scenes are interesting because this is what she is good at, but that is when the serious scenes arrive that we see how lacking she can be.

However I like the chemistry between her character and Kang Chi, although I think it must have something to do with acting alongside with an actor as talented as Lee Seung Gi.

That's all for my current opinion of Suzy's acting. But the drama isn't over, I really hope she will have me change my mind.
last part of the ep 15 was look a like a star wars scene for me XD
Fiction dialog;
Kang chi i'm your father...
Nooooooooo....
dub dub dudub dub dudub dub dudub.....
Come to the dark side....

XD
i agree that Suzy's performance isnt winning her any awards, but stand by my earlier statements that given her level of experience and the general k-drama actign style she could be doing worse. i'll watch 15 tonight, ohhh cant wait
I watched ep 15 and it was like watching a stalking show LOL, Wul Rying spent the whole ep stalking Kang Chi, I would like to think of it as daddy taking care of his kid from afar xD The last scene "I am your father" it would have been much better if he said it that way :D
