I've read that so many people say, that Tan is childish, because of wanting his brother back and because he isn't like main man leads usually are - like he was in "Boys over flowers" or like Jang Keun Suk was in "You're beautiful". I think, that it's really nice to watch comething a bit different from these dramas. Although it is a kliche, I still feel butterflies while watching it. I really enjoy how Woo Bin acts here - he is totally mean - an I also like how Lee MinHo tries to protect her girl and how she still doesn't want to acknowledge that she likes him.
I really can't wait to see new episodes and I actually wish, they'd make it longer.
And also, I like that there are so many side-crushes ^^

I actually think Won is much more childish than Tan. (I said this somewhere else but I am re-posting here) He acts like a spoiled little baby who doesn't want to share... And he is even worse because his little brother doesn't even want his toys and he's still pitching a bratty tantrum.
And I also think it is so weird that a lot of people are comparing this to BOF. Besides the fact it is set in an exclusive school and stars LMH, it isn't the same. It doesn't have the same look, feel, writing style..nothing. I like Tan. He's a decent guy. There are some cliche and typical Kdrama characters that Kdrama writers always seem to fall back on, but there are interesting things about this drama as well. I'm enjoying the ride, even through all the hype.
I like the side crushes/couples too.

That's textbook sexual harrassement. But here it's true love.
Becca256 wrote: Totally agree, I was really upset by that too, especially because Tan hadn't acted like that so far. I would've expected that from Young Do, not Tan.
But anyway..... I just hope he grows up and stops treating her like that.
Yes, I agree, I am really loving his character so far, he is an atypical kdrama protagonist. I was only disappointed, like I said before, by his confession :(
Totally agree too! However I think he had acted almost like that before and he was going towards harassment for a long time, which perfectly fits his character. It's quite fascinating and crazy, because it's LMH, people don't consider his actions like those of a random guy. Just imagine a normal guy acting like that, telling you what to do, creeping out of strange places, following you around, pulling your hair(!!!), most of us would just be scared to live/study in the same place. But it's LMH so it's romantic and not mysoginistic at all. :)
I find him a very disturbing character, he treats his fiancee like garbage, has contempt for his mother and adores a cold hateful brother. Of course it doesn't help that none of these relationships gets properly explained. He used to be a bully at school, than he was exiled and converted to just a creepy sensitive stalker and now he's going back to bullying even if it's just towards the object of his desire. How charming. :) Having said that, I do appreciate he is a different male lead, I just wish show had guts to treat him like this and explore what could be a fascinating dark ride instead of treating it like a common romcom and trying to sway us with powerful romantic melodies like "love is the mooommeeeennnnt". :)
I wouldn't go so far as saying that, but I get where you're coming from. I like Tan a lot, and not only because it's LMH. I like that his character has depth and some issues to work through. As for the harassment,I have only considered the confession harassment, because although their relationship has been a little strange, it has actually been mutual. Eun Sang was in it from the beginning, flirting and having fun, and making that connection, Tan is only pursuing it. And I don't think Tan is hateful to Rachel, he's only making his point. He doesn't pretend with her, he tells her that he won't marry him, and that he likes her as a friend and doesn't like the person she has become since their engagement because she has turned hateful and jealous. And he talks to Rachel and tells her the truth about his relationship with Eun Sang, just out of consideration for her. And I don't think he hates his mother, his just disappointed by her, because she's shallow and bitter. His relationship with Won truly is complicated, but I don't think he's disturbed because he wants it, he's just being a brother.
Having said that, yes Tan is a different character, yes Tan has issues, but he's also a good person, he's just a little lost, and that is what the drama is trying to portray so far. Obviously he will be a lot better person by the end of the drama :)

Very well said Chingu! I totally agree.

That part I agree, I have to say I enjoyed their relationship a lot more in Cali, ever since he confessed to being second son and became kingpin at school everything changed, the power dynamics changed too much and he's aware of that so becomes problematic to act like he's entitled to order and control her. But like I said, I think it's consistent at least.

Maybe if we had seen them bond over something, I don't know, it just seems too much for me. Yes, he is honest with her but he does too much that is extremely inconsiderate to her, almost cruel if she had an intention of marrying him. It's easy to be totally honest and never care what the other thinks or feels, until he does that, I'll keep finding it hateful.

No, I don't think he hates her too but again it's too much, it's almost pity, it's a sort of contempt. It's too aggressively cold for a guy so young, just because she is shallow.

So many brothers have complicated love/hate relationship, after being exiled for 3 years I'd say Tan had an abnormal need for acceptance by his older brother, a normal healthy guy would resent him a little bit now :) even if they could easily move past that.
It's the overall character of Tan that so far is disturbing for me, I don't think he IS a good person yet but I'd surely like to see him try to be one. :)
Its nice to see a Kdrama where there aren't a whole bunch of unnecessary rifts between the two main characters. Like, we're eight episodes in and there wasn't a whole "there-was-a-misunderstanding-but-I'm-going-to-hate-you-and-not-see-you-for-a-while" or the "I'm-going-to-leave-to-protect-you" thing. Even when Tan found out Eun Sang was at the hotel he asked why and understood that was just her nature. They also didn't drag out them liking each other, well in a sense; Tan let on about his feelings relatively early on. Also, I have never liked a bad male lead as much as I like Choi Young Do. Sometimes I almost want him to win at life.
