I also watched the Nodame Cantabile anime and read the manga. I highly recomend watching the live action it's really well made, the casting was great and it really respects the source material.  You should watch it, it's the complete story (drama, special and movies!!)

Both leads are women (no male lead), both are strong characters, one of them eccentric:
