Ipad issues again with posting a comment

This has happened several times in the comments section - and it isnt my ipad because it isnt happening in this forum or on other sites - i am typing faster than my letters are showing up in my comments and it is taking 10 minutes just to type 2 small paragraphs because i have to wait for the letters to catch up. This has happened several times before and others had the same issue. Please fix it again. It really destroys the process of posting a comment and it is super annoying having to sit and wait forthe letters to catch up on your post.

I get it as well, it depends sometimes of the drama page, for example dramas with a large amounts of comments or with more people visiting it. It’s like the database and/or load balancing is screaming. My workbook around is to type in Notes and copy and paste into the comment text box. I use safari on an iPad.

The best  solution is to switch browser to Brave or Chrome and upgrade your OS

Yeah neither of those work, I have tried over several months, plus I am also in the latest iOS. The full watchlist is also laggy and freezes at the ‘completed’ section. Even if you open the completed list on separate tab it’s freezes. So there is definitely a memory/space issue on any page that is over certain size. I would use the app but I filter my plan to watch list by priority which you can do on there for now….but not to worry, I have work arounds I use in the meantime and hope that v6.7 may one day fix the issue

Could you tell me the iOS version and iPad generation? Safari has issues with rendering large lists and other slowness. For large lists, the only way we can fix it is by completely redesigning the list. There isn’t much we can do because it’s related to the large number of elements loaded on the page. We could implement lazy loading, but it may cause other issues, such as problems with scrolling back up and down.  For typing related issue then the solution above is still valid.

iOS: iPadOS 18.2.1 (22C161)

I get the same list loading issues and typing lag in both chrome, safari, Firefox and Vivaldi, lists wise, weirdly it’s fine if I don’t log in to MDL and go directly to the ‘completed’ URL. But the typing lag, for example of ‘flourished Peony’ it’s ok-ish in chrome but the moment you do one tap on the ‘load more’ comments, the lag starts.

These started for back last may if that helps, I have been using workarounds ever since because not really the end of the world problems 😆

Sadly, we have not changed anything major that would cause that issue. Brave browser is usually best for tablets. It is possible due to ads too.

I am a subbed member so no ads…just tested with Brave, same issues, both the commenting and the completed/full watch list.

Thank you. We are definitely fixing the watchlist issue in the next version with the new format. We will continue to look into the commenting issue.

Nps …I have been hanging around for the new version , my workarounds are fine, if anyone has issues, separate tabs for the lists, give up on the completed list for now, and/or zoom in till you get the ‘mobile’ format less items to load. And use Notes to type faster 😃

My ipad is always up to date and i have always used safari - you guys fix it then a few months later it happens again. I am typing in this forum with no problem - the problem exists when you make a post or comment on a drama page. I literally sit there and watch all my keys on my ipad click on their own because i have already typed everything out but the keys wont keep up. It isnt the ipad - it is this site. And now it is even slower than it was when i started this post. Not sure what yall are doing to the site on your end but it really needs to be fixed.

The watchlist has always been an issue for years - if i want to look at my list it is ok but i cannot make any changes to it on my ipad because it lags horribly - so i typically will us my laptop to make any changes or just go to the drama page directly and make the change that way - the list really isn’t useful for anything but it just being a list with the lag problems. On iOS platform. The comment lagging, however, is off and on. It will be horrible for months then all of a sudden  it works fine for a while, then starts lagging again. It has to be some bugging issue on MDL end because, like i said, it doesnt do that when i am typing in these forums. Just when commenting on a post or creating a post.

It’s usually due to the device’s memory or processing power. The comments page isn’t exactly lightweight either, as it can contain hundreds of comments. Hopefully, v7 will address this issue or provide a better way to manage it. Please stay tuned.
