I have actually included Japan in this. Japan has some very good productions but overall even there I was a disappointed in recent years. So I actually moved to the dramas released 10+ years ago. They are in my opinion better developed. The one country I think did remarkable well the last few years was Taiwan. They have some absolut amazingly well done projects.

lol for me it is the complete opposite. I really miss a good and serious crime drama without the constant comedy and happy-go-lucky scenes. Something very well thought through that keeps you guessing and surprises you with unique twists and turns. But most dramas focus more on the romance story and/or a very weak developed case. But I do actually think you have a really good point there. Dramas today try to please the whole audience spectrum instead of focusing on one specific and truly doing that well.
Oh you speak to my soul. I have experienced this slump in 2023 extremely. But to be fair I kinda feel like dramas went down since a couple of years now...there are some great ones but overall with Netflix and co producing more and more dramas they shifted their storylines, from unique to mainstream more and more, where there is potential for a 2nd season. Or maybe it is a generational thing or maybe it is just me. I watched some of those you recommend and sadly I have to say I either dropped them or also felt they were not truly something with a spark. Maybe 2024 will be better :) So I am hopeful for that.
But I do actually think this was also a smart move. He established himself more in the happy-go-lucky drama world with his last couple of dramas (some exceptions are there too of. c.). Mantis does kinda sound more serious? I dunno.
Entertaining movie. Two good friends face a situation where one is dead and the other takes her revenge against the culprits. It is quite entertaining, lots of fight scenes and well done camera movement. 8/10
well done movie! Kim Woo Bin acted amazingly! The diversity of his roles was quite something! Never see him act in this way but truly he did well And so did the child actress. Thumbs up for that Generally the story is really unique and refreshing. It was a well done movie 9/10
Well this really has no story apart from people killing each other. There is a lot happening, so there is no bored minute, but story-wise it fell kinda flat. 7/10
Good movie. It reminded me a little of the Midsummer one, which I have to say was a tad bit better. Nonetheless I really enjoyed our trio once again. I really hope we will be able to see more movies of them, without such a long pause in-between 8,5/10
Really enjoyed seeing Yukawa, Utsumi and Kusanagai again. Truly, those 3 working together is something else! I did not find the case as intruding as other stories of the series or other movies but I still enjoyed it a lot plus the reveal was quite unexpected. So all in all 9/10
I really really really loved this one! It was fantastic! The cases were interesting, the characters absolutely likeable and entertaining, the background OST was beautifully done. Truly everything was a charm to see It gives of a slight Detective Conan feeling. So additional plus to that :) Truly well done 10/10
Great movie! And absolutely well done acting especially when it comes to the little boy! The story is very raw, at times absolute adorable and then very sad. It tells the story of a family and how far they are willing to go in order to protect each other. It really is a well done movie 10/10
That turned out to be a little bit different to what I had expected. It appears to be like a darkish drama and to some degree it is but in the end it is more a "teach-moral" story. It does have a lot of similarities to "Confession", it is just nowhere near the movie. Still well done story, sometimes a little too stretched for my liking. 8/10
very well done article! And very interesting! And wow!!! You saw 114 dramas? Respect! I have only seen very few, but from what I saw in 2023 I'd say "Decoy" was my favourite.
wowowowow! Absolute masterpiece! This was a very very good thriller where you truly have no idea who anyone really is. Every character had a twist, and surprised one in more than just one way. Truly well done! This is for everyone something that enjoyed Parasite. 10/10
Messy. That is the best term to describe this drama. There was a lot of potential but sadly it was not used and sometimes even trampled on. The FL is absolutely well done. I honestly think the romance story was not necessary and kinda did take from her. In this case it would have been better to reduce that. However apart from those scenes her character was interesting and gripping. But thats it . Most of the other characters were not well established. Overall I give it a 6,5/10
I had a hard time to get a grip onto that series. I mean, I started to watch it several times and dropped out…
I actually thought Lee Je Hoon acted amazingly well. But then I did watch this shortly after it first came out and repeatedly rewatched it again and again over the past 7 years. so maybe I am based there XD the cases are actually nearly all based off of real ones. I'd actually recommend you to check out the Japanese version. They did a slight different take on it with a quite nice ending.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat "Uncontrollably Fond" couple is reunited? Ohhhh I cannot wait for this! They were great 7 years ago! Really looking forward to this one!
