"Last Letter" is the first Chinese film by Japanese director and screenwriter Shunji Iwai, but he is already filming a Japanese version, also called "Last Letter". Indisputably, Chinese cinema has a comparative advantage when it comes to tearjerkers and Iwai is no stranger to the genre itself, making it a shrewd choice for its first project on the Continent. The last card will suffocate you totally, but in a way that is ultimately rejuvenating. It's the kind of movie that makes you feel good about people. Of course, the ridiculously attractive cast does not hurt at all. Highly recommended for sentimental romance fans and family dramas.
