I think the entire fantasy in BLs right now doesn’t give proper representation to the lgbtq+ community which…
Yeah I get you. But ig it's different for everyone, physical affection is mostly the only public display of romance but so are public declaration. Like many ppl have different love language; so ig it's fine to show no kiss or a simple high five lol regardless of their sexuality. Also I do wish we could normalize physical relationships as well, but like some ppl are just satisfied with declarations and subtle touches and there's is something extremely intimate and heart-warming abt that

Yeah... Although it would be great to show romance as similar to straight couples; lgbtq+ couples will never be the same as th “normal” ones. And also especially his show is more innocent puppy love instead of just physical attraction. (That's why there are many discourse in one of them being asexual). I am totally okay with no kiss as long as they show respectful representation of my community.

Ikrrrr… sadly that happens way too often that in most BLs, women are just used as mere fangirls for the main couple like that’s the only pleasure in their life, it’s honestly annoying. Liking something problematic, you really can’t help it sometimes, with tharntype I think it didn’t sit right with me bcoz it romanticized sexual assault and ignored so many loopholes and went with just the chemistry that relied on hot makeout sessions. It was such a good opportunity to bring up the effects of sexual abuse on men but they completely misguided it.
At the end of the day, you have to be more mindful abt what type of content you are willing to consume and respecting irl relationships without being weird

I agree with everything that you said, especially on the emphasis on consent. In BLs specifically sexual abuse is often romanticized and like that should stop and I do agree with men not being called out for fetishizing lesbian or sapphic relationships. I just hope ppl can appreciate and respect this relationship without objectifying them for their pleasure. As I said everyone has the right to watch anything they want, but it’s when they take the stereotypes they see from BLs and put them onto real life couples things get weird.
Again I have never agreed to a comment more than this!

But I do agree with the fact that women are called out more than men when it comes to this whole fetishizing thing. When both should be called out and stopped
Hope I don’t offend you, you did make a great point. I just don’t want to hear ppl say that you just turn gay for one person otherwise you are straight. It’s cancels out alot of possible labeled and unlabeled representation for ppl.
Have a nice day!

actually I never said anything about women being bad for liking BL, you can like and watch whatever you want. But it's when you fetishize these relationship which are based of lgbtq+ community. And men are criticized for fetishizing wlw relationships as well. It goes both ways, for wlw, the media basically either ignores or oversexualize them but as BL is mostly consumed by straight women and those who hold the entire fantasy thing is fetishizing (not every women who watches or reads BLs are fetishizers oh my god). Literally why does anyone need to fetishize literally any relationship. My point is that as an lgbtq+ member I have the right to criticize ppl who fetishize lgbtq+ relationships regardless of their gender.
I am non-binary and I watch BL and enjoy it, there is nothing wrong with that. I am just saying the entire fantasy of “straight men to gay” isn’t a thing, you just don’t turn gay magically.

Title My Love Mix-Up! Spoiler
You’re assuming he’s straight but he might be a biromantic demisexual. Or asexual, since there wasn’t any…
I think they were trying to show the fact that many people often associate ppl who are interested in same sex just gets on with anyone which isn’t true obviously. And ik the false and completely bizarre representation that ware produced in the Japanese media, but I don’t think the episode was trying to insinuate that, they were saying that just bcoz you alike the same gender doesn’t mean you just get it on with anyone of that gender.
And aoki isn’t straight. he and everyone in the show is clearly unlabeled.

Hmmm...guys, there is something that is bothering me about some "BL fans". They seem to have forgotten what BL…
I think the entire fantasy in BLs right now doesn’t give proper representation to the lgbtq+ community which btw is what BL is based off. So the entire fantasy of “two straight men falling in love” trope is just basic fetishizing.
Fetishizing is bad and does nothing but harm to the community. And encouraging it by allowing the entire fantasy concept to go on increases the rate of straight women who just wants to see two guys who don’t necessarily identify or label themselves fall in with each other. (Btw they are not straight if they fall in with each other, you don’t just become gay for someone)
I think we as lgbtq+ community has every right to criticize and dismiss any shows which portrays false representations of our sexualities.
It’s 2021 and gay ppl are still discriminated against; they don’t have to be a fantasy for pleasure for straight women or anyone.
Ps.I am not trying to be offensive to you but I just wanted to point out how the fantasy of BL does more harm to the community than good.
