I think you should rewatch that episode because the FL clearly had a plan to escape but her sister desperately wanted to marry that guy so FL agreed to let her marry him. Also it was the stepmother who planned switching the brides.

You should try A Journey To Love if you haven't tried it yet, the female character is most well written female character I have ever seen in cdramas. She started as a strong and smart character and continue to be like that till the end.

Yes I'm really big fan of both Xiang liu and Tan Jian Ci. You know in beginning whenever I saw your pfp of Zhu Yan with white hairs I will always mistake him for Xiang liu at first glance. For me the death of Xiang Liu was the most beautiful death I have ever seen in the cdramas. As for him getting the girl I knew from the start there was no hope because the path he chose, the path of the rebels only ends at death and him leaving his commerades behind would not be like his character. I spoke too much I don't know what I'm talking about I always lose my mind when thinking about Xiang Liu 🤣🥲 But for me Xiang Liu was too pure for the mortal world, he had the purest heart without any greed or evil so at the end he had to leave a place he didn't belong to just like a distant traveller who passed by.
About Tan Jian Ci I am really big fan of his acting. The level to which he understands the character and portray his feelings just by his eyes is really amazing. There are not many who can achieve this level of acting. He captured the essence of Xiang Liu's character.For the first time, I liked a character more in drama than in novel.
