both the mls didn’t show any affection towards girls … its kinda like they are using them for there purpose…
That's his character traits I suppose. In real life, there are some people who are not good at showing affection to someone they love or care about. But they do care and show it by doing actions that may look trivial but actually speak a lot about their deep affection. If you have watched Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, you see that Mr. Darcy is cold but he truly loves Elizabeth.
Its an ensemble cast and story. Everyone is super critical to the team dynamic and brings their own strengths…
I got annoyed with Xijun in early episodes of S1 too. But I think it's because her integration to the team was not well-written. Her character was inconsistent. She became likeable I'd say from mid to the end of S1. Had they not made her like a spoiled brat and love brain in the beginning, people would have had more positive opinion about her.
The biggest observation of Yingtao character is that she became ‘brother-in-arms’ to LuLu. Lulu knew he could…
I like her here much more in season 2 than in Season 1. I guess because her integration to the gang in season 1 was not well-written in my opinion. Well, tbh both Xijun and Ying Tao's integration to the squad was not my favorite in S1 😁 But I'm happy they made the girls so much better in season 2 in terms of character growth and their contribution to the story.
I don't understand why people are doing it. On Douban too. Just a couple of weeks before they aired SToTD2, the…
If it's true, that there are people who are sabotaging the score, I wouldn't surprised. I remember when S1 aired and got 8.5 on MDL and then went down to 8.0, I posted a comment questioning why the score had gone down. At that time somebody replied that it could have been that some people were not too happy or even jealous of the success of SToTD1 🤔 I've observed that fandom culture seems more rampant among the international audiences than in China.
I know. S1 got 7.9 on Douban and 8.3 on MDL. S2 got 8.4 on Douban and only 8.0 on MDL. What's wrong with international…
I hope you're right. I've noticed that the rating went up to 8.2 for a couple of days last week before went down to 8.0 again. And in comparison to season 1, season 2's rating on MDL is going up very slowly. I remember when season 1 started, it immediately got 8 point something on MDL and it even went up to 8.5 before it stayed at 8.3. A lot of people here have been saying that season 2 is better than season 1 but the score is still lower than that of season 1.
Ah, the Li Yun’s case was so compassionately ended. Whole group moving to DunHuang, closed of YunDing chapter.…
I'm quite happy with the ending of the 7th case. I was a bit worried that the end of SToTD's Murder on the Orient Express would be sloppy. But I was relieved that it ended quite well. Kudos again to the writer! 👏
Yes. The king is a disappointment, now on throne is threatened by Princess growing power. Poor LLF will be stuck…
The story itself is fiction but the time when the story is set is real. It says "Set in the year 712 AD during the reign of Emperor Rui Zong of the Tang Dynasty"
Hmm As some commentators pointed out, there are resemblance to ‘The Journey to the west’ show. One of the…
Yeah, I think they intended to suggest that the squad's journey to the west resembles the most popular story: Journey to the West. They added references to this story such as a rake and even one of the characters in 3rd case looked like the piggy.
I used to watch the 1996 adaptation of Journey to the West. I don't remember much but I loved Dicky Cheung's Sun Wukong 😄
If their 7th case is inspired by this super famous whodunit, I'm curious to know how they will pull off their version of Murder on the Orient Express Tang Dynasty style :D
For me SWM and CYT romance is understandable given that she was entrusted by her father before he died to SWM…
I think both views are valid.
I also do find the romance between SWM and YT weird. I like YT being in the squad. She is a great fighter and LLF definitely needs some help occasionally. But perhaps it would be better if she's just one of the member of the squad without any romantic attachment to SWM or anybody. Personally I'd prefer that the drama be without any romance. Just platonic would be enough.
But then when I think about it maybe it's because of my 21st century brain that finds it weird. If we think about historical context, the drama is set in a specific time period which is 712 CE. In ancient time, it was quite common for a man to marry a much younger woman. In Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility for example. Marianne Dashwood is 17 when she marries Colonel Brandon who's 35. The novel was written in 18th century. It's a weird practice for us in the 21st century but quite normal at that time. So I think, if we see it from this point of view, SWM and YT romance is still acceptable.
