Pinocchio Episode 8 Review

This is what a well-written show is. I am astounded at how the emotions are being portrayed so realistically at every point. Be it the dilemma that Dal Po faces when he meets his brother, or the too-hard-to-hide feelings that In Ha and Dal Po have for each other, or the rage and sense of unfairness that Jae Myung feels and acts out on. I've always considered reporters and journalists to be cold people who undeniably work for the better of the world but are more report-oriented than being humane. Most of my perceptions about them were cleared in this episode. Everybody has got their job, they should do well in that regard, nobody can be everything or do everything. I feel that I have matured a little today after watching this episode.

Although it happened quite earlier than what I had expected, the kiss In ha and Dal Po shared felt just right. It just goes to show that although it is a part of the genre, this show is not primarily a romance. Which is a thing I love about this show. It could have easily deviated and become a drag because of a side-line plot but it's sticking to it course and delivering in every aspect. All I feel is respect and admiration for the writers of this show.

Coming to the theories and estimations (I can't help but make them!) - I think that the accident that Jae Myung prevented (which was a really brave thing to do btw) and the news coverage that MSC will do on that will put him in a new light and maybe warm Dal Po towards the idea of revealing his identity to his brother. But the fact that Jae Myung made it abundantly clear that he wants nothing to do with Dal Po or any reporter may deter progress of their relationship. I love how this is not so simple and about to get even more complicated but still seems like a legit thing that could happen with people. Great work by every single person associated with the show. I'm glad I can watch such a wonderful piece of work :)

Pinocchio Episode 7 Review

The uncanny resemblance the story has with reality is quite unsettling. I've always felt that this show grasps the human tendencies precisely, but it is still unnerving to see it again and again. The way Choi Dal Po struggles with the consequences of his mistake was brilliantly shown. Him sitting in the dark side of the room and his old self berating him with the same words he'd used for In Ha. Maybe now he truly understands what's it like being a reporter. Earlier he was just a victim, after this incident he's bound to feel more responsible as he's got the first hand experience of doing a similar mistake too. Love how the writers gave Dal Po a little shake. I'm glad he's got the Captain to look out for him when he's in a fix of emotions.

One of the best things about this show is that there are probably going to be minimal complications in the romance aspect. In Ha's incapability to lie renders all the misunderstandings moot. The main issues when love stories are at stake are the misunderstandings and the things that the lovers don't say to each other, it's highly refreshing to see people who're upfront with their feelings. Granted, Choi Dal Po is hesitant to admit his feelings for her but the reason behind hiding those feelings is on an entirely different level.

Dal Po meeting his brother in this manner was expected, him recognizing him first was also expected. What surprised me was the interest his brother showed in In Ha. I really really really hope that this is not going to turn ugly. It's understandable that Jae Myung might want to hurt In Ha's mother for doing what she did to their family but.. this is too cruel. Hurting an innocent is not justified in any regard. I hope he comes to his senses before any chance of his salvation is lost.

I'm in awe with the way every episode is so well-made and executed. You've got the serious moments, the mystery, the romance, the comedy, everything mixed so well in the perfection combination you never realize how the time goes by. You just want to continue watching their story because it's so gripping! Truly amazing!

Doctor Stranger Ep18 Review

I've pretty much just accepted my fate as far as this show is concerned. Leaving it now is out of the question, I'm just waiting for the next week when hopefully all the things will come to a proper end.

Finally Jae Joon is back in the spotlight. Amazing stuff. Personally his story is the best one out of the whole lot. It's interesting, seems to have a purpose and a definite line of direction - things that the other plotlines lacked.

One thing that I'm happy about is the things aren't feeling rushed. There are two more hours to finish everything and there's not much left so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the writers will respect the sentiments of the people who are STILL watching the show after all this time and give the show a good end.

Doctor Stranger Ep17 Review

It's getting a little hard for me to digest that there are only 3 episodes left for this drama to end. I've never felt like this while watching a drama, maybe because this is the first time I'm watching one while it's airing.

Anyways, we've been pretty much riding a merry go round for the last few episodes, and it's safe to think we'll be stuck on it till the finale. We go up and we go down. But you still love riding the merry go round don't you? :P

The eternal struggle Park Hoon faces between his love/obligation with Jae Hee and his ethics as a doctor continue now as well. Hopefully this last round will put an end to that since it's pretty clear there won't be a tie any longer (I really hope not otherwise I am afraid we'll have a really disappointing finale in our midst).

KYAAAAKK! 2 more weeks and I cannot wait. This show's taking me on one helluva rollercoaster ride :D

Emotional turmoil, vested interests, OT drama - all this kept me on the edge of my seat in this episode. I'm absolutely exhilarated for the next week.

Doctor Stranger Ep15 Review

Still quite different from what the show began as, but I do not oppose the track it's taken. Pretty much everything has been revealed now and we can finally see the characters' stories being taken forward.

The love quadrangle that everybody knew was going to come has settled in with a vengeance and I don't think everyone will come out unscathed.

A good episode, I just hope there isn't some major dragging on of the story coming along now, that'd be just too bad.

Doctor Stranger Ep14 Review

Finally some vital questions answered! Better late than never seems to be the mantra I chant these days while watching the show. The fog around the mysteries surrounding everything has thinned a lot after this episode.

Not an exceptional episode, but a good one nonetheless. Thank god for the actual medical thrill they're providing us finally.

Doctor Stranger Ep13 Review

It feels as if we're taken a round about route to our destination. We are still heading towards the culmination of the grand scheme but we've set on a better path than before.

Now we get to see some character development and better insight to what those characters are. I'm not a 100% sure I like this route as it seems to have come in too late for a show that's only got 7 episodes left to go. In my opinion the show wasted some precious episodes on the suspense building and meaningless attempts at mysterious subplots.

But I won't deny that the show is trying to get back on its feet and sprint again. Either way, I'm in till the end. The great actors deserve that!

THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. DAMN. WOW.

This was THE best episode. of the show. Hands down. I could watch it all over again if I wanted to. This is what the show is capable of and I'm ecstatic that it has finally come back to where it belongs. Reminds of pheonixes :)

Such great acting, I was blown away. AMAZING execution of the episode as a whole. Incorporated the past, the present, everything. I have absolutely no praises that can do justice to this episode.

Doctor Stranger Ep11 Review

I can understand the feeling Dr. Moon has after a victory :D I'm doing the little victory dances he always does :P Never have I ever felt so relieved to see a show stand back up and dust itself off. This episode almost came as a bribe to string me back in.

Finally I got to see the real hospital action I'd been missing so much. The whole NK secret mission was still incorporated in the things happening but it was just the right amount I needed after all the head-splitting confusing hints that were being dropped for the last few episodes. I can see that the next episode will be good as well.

Finished the episode with a smile on my face after a long time :)

Doctor Stranger Ep10 Review

The show is halfway done. And I've been supremely disappointed with the last few episodes. I'm not even sure this is the same show they started out with. I almost feel ashamed now to admit that I'd been crazy about this drama in the beginning.

Frankly, another couple of episodes like these and I might have to drop this drama only because I don't want to be disappointed further. The only characters that seem worth watching anymore are Soo Hyun and Dr. Moon. Heck even Han Jae Joon is bearable. Park Hoon with his unrealistic obsession with Jae Hee, Jae Hee with a her sick twisted plan in motion, and the teddy-bear pajama wearing Premier have started to get on my nerves.

Doctor Stranger Ep9 Review

Ever felt like you've been promised a bag of crisps and you wait excitedly for it, and then when you open it, it's 3/4th full of air? That's what this episode left me feeling. The preview last week made me look forward to the episode so much and didn't deliver any of that.

The first half was intense with the focus on the surgery of the newborn twins. That part was good, edgy and gripping. But that's where the good things about the episode ended. The rest of the episode had nothing but the cat-mouse chase between Jae Hee and Park Hoon. Seriously guys, it's happening so often now that even I can recognize some of the corridors and staircases they run around.

I think the writers are now trying just TOO hard to keep the suspense up. Too much of it starts to annoy me. I know it's essential to keep the viewers hooked and they were doing a marvelous job uptill a few episodes ago, you can check my previous reviews, I was gushing like a nutcase about how amazing the mystery is. But repeating and dragging the same issue over and over again in the bloody same manner? Don't you get bored of writing the same thing? I know I got bored watching it. It was the first time I check the remaining time of the episode to see when I could finish it and go to sleep. That's bad, really.

I hope that the writers find new focal points for the suspense now because the Seung Hee/Jae Hee and Park Hoon chase is driving me insane. I really don't want to stop watching this show because of the sake of the brilliancy is showed in the earlier episodes.

Every show has it's share of good and bad episodes, this was just one of the bad ones, that's all. I hope the streak doesn't continue. I'd hate to think of the show as a disappointment.

Doctor Stranger Ep8 Review

Aaand we're back with the signature edginess and pace. Things are looking up in the darkness I'd been left in by the show. Which is good, because even if by the 8th episode they hadn't given a slight idea of what exactly is going on, it would have been a bummer. Too much mystery destroys the interest as well. BUT, our Show is smart, it didn't make that mistake. We now have the basic idea about all the sub-plots as well as the main plot.

So after 2 weeks of thinking if Seung Hee is Jae Hee and re-thinking that no they're different people, to finally being sure that Seung Hee IS Jae Hee after all. Not that it's been made obvious but you can see the hints. And imo, Park Hoon knows its her but is playing along with her deceit until she comes clean herself. It's better to stay by her side letting her think she fooled him rather than run away from him thinking she exposed her secret. Win-win?

Apparently not for Soo Hyun who is unintentionally heading in the direction of Park Hoon. I can see that, but unfortunately Hae Joon can see that too, which is not good. And now that we know the strong reasons he has behind his obsession with Myun Woo, he's a force to be reckoned with. I don't think he'll let Park Hoon get in his way, now that even the Director has made it clear that he must take care of the 'invader' in his castle. If I were Park Hoon, I'd sleep with one eye open.

The fog obscuring the actual plot here has been lifted a bit and we can catch a glimpse or at most take a probable guess at it. Everything seems to come back to Premier Jang and his heart surgery. But is that all? Of course there must be something more to it. I hope there is. The show's handling the mystery well, its keeping me interested.

More revelations in the next episode, can't wait!

Doctor Stranger Ep7 Review

Yes, you saw it, I gave the episode a rating that was not 10. But don't take it in the negative sense, it wasn't really the show's fault. I just couldn't get that engrossed in this episode, well because there was not much stuff to be engrossed in. It was a mellow episode that focused more on unraveling several mini-plots rather than add fuel to the fire of the main plot. And after being used to the fast and unrelentingly challenging episodes so far, I felt myself waiting for the episode to take on a thrilling twist, which never came. My expectations are at fault here.

We got the pretext of Dr. Park Cheol's department to NK, got to know the role of Director Choi in the whole scheme, got to witness further evilness of Premier Jang, got a hint as to what's really driving Dr. Han Jae Joon to take over the hospital. Small, but hopefully useful revelations that will help build the foundation of the elaborate suspense the Show (hopefully) has in store. Also instead of Seung Hee (who I don't think is Jae Hee, my apologies for assuming in the last episode that she is), Dr. Yang took up the role of "Suspicious Doctor" in this episode, what's up with that? Does everybody in this hospital have an hidden agenda? Except Dr. Moon maybe, who is adorably clueless and needs a helmet.

This episode made me rethink almost all of the theories I had made up in my mind about the Secret Mission every other person seems to be involved in. But still, we're still left scratching our heads wondering what exactly is the mission. Is it the destruction of the hospital? Destruction of Premier Jang? What is it?

I think the next episode will be more like the typical style of the show since all they did was lay the blue print in this episode, now the things will be in motion from the next episode, again, hopefully.

I Hear Your Voice Pilot Review

I was hesitant to start the series even though I've been reading about it for about a year now. Reason? It seemed too hyped up. I'm currently watching Doctor Stranger and loving Lee Jong Suk's performance in that, watching him act in that show, made me give up my resistance to this one and I started watching it today. I'm not regretting it.

In a drama, the first episode is where normally all the characters are built up and/or the plot is laid and let's be honest, it's not always exciting just listening about the past of the characters, unless there's a mystery involved. THIS episode however, despite just being a plot build up and a character build up, kept me with it till the end. Mainly because of the acting. The young Hye Sung was, captivating, truly. She was the highlight of the episode.

The concept seems fresh for a series, there's going to be courtroom drama, love triangles, Lee Jong Suk - all the ingredients to keep me happy. Very happy :P
