Beautiful sets, terrible actors

The expensive costumes and scenery and set designs were beautiful, but the producers should have spent more money on better actors and a better director. It was 50+ episodes long, the pace was so slow, and I felt the story could have taken 16-20 episodes like K-dramas. The story was unnecessarily drawn out, which as a result, bored me to tears.

Also, the actors were terrible. With the exception of the good performances by the Crown Prince (Liu Hanyang) and Prince Qi (Luo Yunxi), the actors and actresses performed as if they had botox treatments - no emotions shown, only their mouths moved as they spoke.

I could only endure this show until Episode 20, then I got bored and disgusted. I let my elderly mother continue watching the rest of the show as she loves Chinese historical dramas. That is 20 wasted hours that I will never get back in my life.

If you want to see a good Chinese historical drama, watch The Legend of Xiao Chuo. Shawn Dou was amazing in it. Jing Chao, who played Fu Chou in this show (Princess Silver), was excellent in The Legend of Xiao Chuo.

everyone is so hyped about this movie, and if ur only focused on the humans, then yeah very entertaining. but i can't - i get that in most if not all Asian countries let alone whales - almost every kind of living creature, can and will end up on a food menu. so maybe cause of that, the travesty against a "mother and its child", ain't no big deal to anyone who has watched this. And YEAH Get that THIS is ONLY A MOVIE - still not for me.

as is this was one idiotic move after another, like Mo Hong Gap killing his subordinate cause he defended Jang Sa Jung, who's only fault was that he dared to voice his opinion, that contradicted the high commander.

then we have that f*cker that commanded the soldiers on the ship, carrying the seal. he is in the whales backyard and he feels affronted that the baby whale came up for air in the path of the ship?!? "oh what audacity". as if they're even a blimp on that creatures radar. of course the mother defended her baby. show me a mother who wouldn't?!?

from there the ball of idiocy just intensified. yeah there were funny bits and tried to ignore the anger and frustration. cause knew this sh*t would end up as a whale hunt.
even Yeo Wol "folded" after Mo Hong Gap's threat, all her talk about the whales being angels of the sea turning into B.S. - cause human life is worthier then an animals. can keep going but pretty sure whoever reads one of two line knows i didn't love this plot.

but have to say this - the end showing the baby still alive - what the f*ck was that?!? a sec before it was harpooned So Ma told Mo Hong Gap that is was a newborn, ain't no new born gonna survive alone without a mother in the vast ocean, with giant whites and load of other dangerous creatures swimming in the deep, not to mention the f*cking humans. plz that was a load of b.s.

not blaming the actors, everyone did a bang-up-job, but the story was SH*T!

This show is definitely one of the most heart warming shows I have watched. It completely changed how I view doctors and thier efforts. It changed my views on surgeries.I am actually a little bit (very) scared of surgeries, pregnancy and anything related to hospitals, but this drama made me feel less anxious. It basically opened my eyes towards so many things I chose to turn a blind eye to.
I personally dont enjoy the medical genre, it is a little bit too much for me. But this show is an exception. It depicts more real life of doctors than a fantasy that is often shown in many dramas. More than the medical aspects,it shows relationships of people. Friends, family, love and siblings is shown so incredibly well.
Our 5 friends are friendship goals. I love each of them so much! This is the purest friendship I have seen on screen, so cute and heartwarming.
The show is also so fun to watch,so many laugh out loud moments! The 12 episodes went by quite fast.
The music played during the show has the most beautiful lyrics and such emotional and nostalgic vibes. I love the band sessions of the friends.
The only issue I see is how the story keeps getting cut suddenly and shown in a later part of the show,I know they're to create an aspect of mystery but after a while I started to get annoyed. The ending has an abrupt ending, it ended like it was supposed to have more episodes but didn't. I wasn't satisfied with how most story lines had an open ending. I think there is a season 2 coming next year, so I'm excited for that!

New to the BL World? This one is good way to start!

This is the Thai Y Series that dominated most of the countries during the quarantine.

2gether: The Series is about a Chic Boy named Tine finds ways to get rid of his effeminate suitor, Green. His friends decided to get him a fake boyfriend to get Green away, and they've chosen Sarawat, the campus heartthrob.

With its unusual storyline, it can already convince you to open its story. And as you continue to watch, you'll find yourself immersed in the story and in the feelings of the characters. And when you reach the end, you'll definitely crave for more (Those who finished watching this know what I am saying. They deserve a better ending. haha).

So, why watch it as a starter?
First, the story. Comparing to the other series I've watched, 2gether has whole different attack on the usual BL stories. It's very light, and doesn't have too much drama scenes. If you want to want a BL Series but don't want lots of drama, this one is for you.

Second the actors. Honestly saying, the actors portrayed the roles perfectly. The actors they've selected for the roles fits in them resulting in their acting which goes naturally. This is as I said, has a whole different attack on the usual BL series because even if it doesn't have much intimate scenes, it still hits the heart of their viewers.

Third, the soundtrack. I am a fan of series with lively Soundtracks so this series already hits my first point. Aside from that, their use of the songs of the Thai Band SCRUB'B fits in every scene. The fame of this series also raised the fame of the band. But in my personal opinion, their songs are really great. It expresses emotions and the right feels. Even if it's not used in the series, the songs of the band are for good keeps in your playlists.

Lastly, appropriate for 'almost all' audiences. Due to its minimal intimate scenes, and overall storyline, it can be said that this series can be viewed by audiences 13+. Of course, with open mind and understanding that this story is focused on the blooming relationship of two male lead characters. And personal opinion, I think this is the time for more series like this. Representation in all forms of media should be made, for Equality.

Negative Points? There are some:
* The storyline for the other characters in not develop properly, either developed too fast, or too slow. (But we'll never know, I believe there's a 2nd season coming! Pray with me! Hahaha.)
* The support actors in their series should be given more lines or actions in the development of the relationship of the main actors. I mean, there's more than them, they can do it better.

Overall, this is a good one to watch. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Still not convinced, look at their Twitter statistics on how they dominated the world on Friday nights with their hashtags. Hahaha.
:)

Too many problems to list

I started this because the trailers made this drama look like a badass revenge story (and it had Kang Ki Young in it), but only the first third of the drama held any of my interest. The acting was pretty good, but they suffered from terrible writing. You could tell the writers only made half of an attempt at fleshing out their story.

I only stayed for Kang Ki Young and the Solution couple. I just started skipping through the last few episodes because it was the same recycled plot as the first half of the drama.

The bad writing caused so many issues with the characters. No Yool Sung had a really strong start as a villain, but he just dissolved into a boring rich guy with mommy issues and a violent temper. The FL was so inconsistent as a character. She was so hesitant and weak, and, five minutes later, she was kicking someone in the face.

The cast deserved better.

The redefinition of first love

Heartwarming, funny, bittersweet and unforgettable, 'My Friend Is Still Alive' (내 친구는 아직 살아있다 / Nae Chinguneun Ajik Sal-aissda), 2013 KBS drama special, revolves around high school students Chi Hyun (Lee Joo Seung, from 9 Seconds - Eternal Time) and Myung Soo (Kim Chang Hwan), who always take care of their best friend Kyung Sook (Lee Gi Kwang, from Me Too, Flower), who has been fighting leukemia for years.
To accompany him in his most difficult moments, they shave their heads as a sign of affection and affection, take him to the beach, tell him jokes and make fun of him, always with the aim of making him smile.
Instead of talking about how sad the situation is, the three prefer to clown around and talk about their non-existent love lives and make plans for the future.
The doctor will tell Kyung Sook one day that he is improving and the next he describes a discouraging and Dantesque panorama. Faced with uncertainty, Kyung Sook decides to make a list of last wishes that he wants to fulfill if he has to die young. His last wish is to kiss his first love before he dies, but he has never experienced falling in love.
So, Chi Hyun and Myung Soo set out on a mission to find a girl who can become the dying friend's first love with very funny results.
If you are new to K-dramas you should know that "first loves" are essentially the ones that matter the most, as they will be remembered for a lifetime.
In the process, they meet Kook Hwa (Jeon Soo Jin - "kook"), and manage to convince her that Kyung Sook is in love with her. This is how the two young people connect. The three boys decide to hide the truth from Kook Hwa about Kyung Sook's illness, despite recognizing that it is not fair to her. But when the sick person's health deteriorates, the time comes when it will be difficult for them to maintain the lie.
What will happen? Will Kyung Sook be able to give the long-awaited first kiss before he dies? That question is answered in one of the most beautiful and moving scenes in all the romantic comedies in history.
But before you get there, your heart will skip a beat when you hear the dying man tell his friend Chi Hyun one of the most beautiful lines in all the romantic comedies of all time: "The things I wanted to do with my first love, Come to think of it, I did them with you. We rode our bikes together. We fed each other. We watched the stars together. We spent the night together. I've done all those things for the first time with you. Every one of them. It's not I may like a man, but when I think about it, my first love was you. I did a lot of things with you, friend. So I may not have my first kiss, but at least I have a first love before I die."
Directed by Lee Eung Bok and scripted by Go Jung Won, 'My Friend Is Still Alive' brings a rollercoaster of emotions, showing a wonderful and touching story of friends and love.
With male bonding as its main theme, actors Lee Gi Kwang and Lee Joo Seung deliver dynamic and surprisingly realistic performances. Shocking to see how the friendship and love between these friends developed in a really nice balance, and how they redefined first love.
Yes, it is a BL romantic comedy or love between boys, although it does not follow the same channels that the genre has accustomed us to. But more than highlighting the issue, what interests me most here is appreciating the film as an unsurpassed exponent of comedy as a model of what is inherent to the comic event on screen, of the relationship between hilarity and reflection, of the timing and tone of comedy.
Lee Eung Bok starts from the fundamental pillar of comedy: a generic device mounted on the careful premise of provoking laughter in a situation that is supposedly antithetical to the genre (illness, death, pain), a neat and well-crafted script; asset accompanied in his film by attributes such as class, containment in the underlining, a narrative fluidity that juxtaposes, with high craftsmanship in the assembly, each of the scenarios of expression of the situations of hilarity.
The director of 'School', 'Dream High' and 'Descendants of the Sun', among other dramas and films, learned in 'My Friend Is Still Alive' the lesson given by the genre in its classic aspect: defined characters; comic effectiveness; place for the farcical-irrational; dialogues elaborated on the reel of a spiral of stinging retorts; direct planning; simple narrative structure, but full of spark and mischief; maintained pulse and constant rhythm; actors who exude poise in superb compositions whose effectiveness is supported by intelligent editing, always concerned with cutting in time before killing the gag.

I wish I could give this 12 Stars

Wow! What's not to like here. As others have noted, I was left wanting more. Korean BL dramas are much more timid than the best from the Thai film industry, but they make up for it in better storylines and Hollywood-caliber audio mixing. On screen, "Wish You" never gets beyond a bromance, but the subtext for a deeper romance is all there. I think in 10 years Korea will be the leader in this genre. All of the actors are outstanding but Lee Sang as Yoon Sang Yi could have carried this drama all by himself. It's worth noting that while both leads are suppose to be the same age, Kang In Soo is 7 years older than Lee Sang. Let's hope there's a sequel with these two.

A pleasant experience

This time my review will be a bit longer, but those who know me and write to me many times on gaytitulky.info, where the series is translated into CZ, will surely forgive me.
This is one of those really good mystery series connected with the Thai branch of Buddhism, it surprised me because after the first episode I had no idea what would happen next, because the original described plot took place in the first episode and I didn't like the main characters either. Apparently, the same process took place inside me while watching, as with many viewers, because the increase in ratings from the first episodes to the end is not typical, it usually decreases (IMDb from 7.2 to 8.3 and MDL from 8.0 to 8.5) and I found my way to two the main performers and I started to like them a lot, both as characters and as actors. Well, if I look at San (Daou), how he looks at MDL in civilian clothes, maybe it's not him either, I don't want that! ? I've gotten used to it and I love the look of the "old man" with old-fashioned clothes and short pants, the creators did a good job with that. Not to mention Ponda (Third), I already love this little girl from the 180 Degree series ... And even the great-great-granddaughter Ju was really great, one of the few "normal" female characters in BL projects, otherwise we mostly meet scumbags, extra bushes, or is the character scared, affected or annoying. All of them, including Ton and Tao, convinced me that in the end I gave the acting performances not a nine, which I originally thought, but a ten, despite the slightly grinning "rat" Rat. The overall concept, the story, the actors, the music, all of this completely prevailed in my assessment, and this is not affected even by the not completely 100% processing, which can be partially excused by the fact that the creators had to fit into a very limited budget (battles, shooting games and red marmalade or raspberry juice, treadmill, etc. and at the climax of the last episode we had to watch Tao brushing his teeth with superpaste). But what I can't forgive, and it shouldn't affect the budget, and many viewers will forgive even this under the overall impression, are the two Asian "falls" in the first part and in the last one, when Wat holds the stone in his pretty feminine fingers and in the close-up in the shot, it is held by a man's fingers (apparently this omitted scene was recorded by directors Wo and MI themselves), I thought they were going to limit me, I've already seen it in some other series, I'd kick someone from the crew for that, and I'm reducing it by two whole rating points for processing.

The Joseon Dynasty (Joseon) ruled Korea for more than 500 years before it was overthrown in 1910 by the conquering Japanese. From this minimalist series, it is not clear in which era exactly the story fell, but that is not important in the end.
Anyway, right at the beginning and with the previews, one could have expected a big story, drama, but after the first episode, everything slipped into a mini-form, both in the cast, the length of the episodes and the story itself. Apparently, the creators also struggled with a low budget.
The story, the idea (perhaps even according to reality) excellent, but for the most part unused, the potential that was offered was tons - like not many places, really a pity. But I don't mean to punish the creator.
The main three characters are cast by three stars from other Korean series and projects that are very well rated here on GT - Where Your Eyes Linger (Jang) - sk tit, Mr. Heart (Lee) - series sk tit and movie cz tit by monvi and Wish You II (Kang) - has cz tit by karcikarl, I list the civil nicknames of the actors in parentheses and the actors are also listed in that order on the three-photo in the Pictures folder. I liked Lee - Choi Ki Wan the most in terms of character and acting, who appeared disguised as a woman for 95% of the series.
Extremely pleasant, delicious, but I was impressed by the set, costumes, and sound. I learned how Koreans used to dress, how they lived. Overall satisfaction, BUT ... with a hugely wasted potential of the subject ...

Nothing to see here, it's your run of the mill recycled makjang. Turn off the brain and get through it. The one thing that bothered me the most is the unjustified stern conviction and sheer determination of the antagonist's drive to take revenge, of which, was never built up on any reasonable basis.

It began nice but endet not really good.

One thing can definitely be said from the start and that is that this drama isn't for everyone. The story is told very slowly and could have been completed after 8 episodes.
In any case, it's positive that this drama is very close to reality. So problems and decisions that you and I could have made too. Love can be very complicated sometimes. The actors did an excellent job.
However, the story stuttered and nothing exciting happened. The reasons for the roles were sometimes no longer understandable. The ending was a disaster for me.
You basically wait for nothing.

I finished this drama a week ago and I still can't stop thinking about it. Roy Chiu and Patrick Li were like tag team comics, absolutely hilarious. I agree with another reviewer, Patrick Li Literally stole the show. He is so freakin funny!!! I would like to watch him again in more romantic comedies. You can tell Patrick works out too. Behind that goofy nerdy guy, beats the heart of a rebel (watch sauna scene, hot bod with killer tats). I became a big Roy Chiu fan after watching Office Girls, and think acting wise, this was his best work. He is so freakin adorable when he smiles and his eyes light up. My favorite scene in the drama was the Monkey Underwear Scene! It kept me in stitches. This drama is a must watch. It's got a little of everything, but most of all it will make you feel good and laugh a lot! Highly Recommend! BTW, those of you who will rewatch it,, pay attention to the scene in the early episodes where Roy predicts Patrick Li will get transferred to Frozen Foods and the ending.

What can i say? I guess most people want to be this girl. Who doesn't want to be like her who surrounded by handsome men? Well, our lovely ones. Our bias! The first time there was announcement about this drama, i immediately predicted about the story line. This is not much different from what I had predicted, but also not exactly like what I predicted. So, i still like this one anyway.

Vincenzo is quirky and entertaining.

Vincenzo concluded, and the executions of Jang Han Seok and Choi Myung Hee were a gore-fest. Vincenzo is one of the quirkiest, most entertaining K-dramas, and it might be the best K-drama of 2021. I thought that it was an over-the-top silly slapstick/crime/suspense drama in the beginning, but I kept watching it every week.

Protagonists: Song Joong Ki shined in the role of Vincenzo, and he carried the show on his shoulders. This is his best acting role to-date. His special skills got the job done, while he regained his humanity. Jeon Yeo Bin was overacting as Hong Cha Young, who acted like a spoilt princess most of the time. Her supermodel catwalk strut and her facial mannerisms were very annoying. When she was serious, she radiated on screen.

Antagonists: Ok Taecyeon stepped outside the box, and chose a role that I never envisioned. Jang Han Seok was psychotic, bipolar, evil, schizophrenic and despotic. Kim Yeo Jin as Choi Myung Hee was the most irritating character in the drama. Her styling was off. She looked like a frowzy fashionista with dirty hair and expensive fashion wear. It looked like Kim never washed and combed her hair for twenty episodes.

Chump: Kwak Dong Yeon is memorable as the cowardly weak brother, Jang Han Seo, who developed a spine, and helped Vincenzo take down Jang Han Seok.

SPOILER ALERT
I found the opening segment of the final episode was very irritating. Master Executioner Vincenzo froze while Jang Han-Seok and Jang Han-Seo were having a showdown. This was so uncharacteristic in Vincenzo. I would have choreographed a better scene, with Vincenzo and Jang Han-Seo taking down madman Jang Han-Seok. Even if Jang Han-Seo was weak, he was still redeemable. As usual, the K-drama time jump wrapped up the drama. If the production team took off a week to fine tune the last four episodes, they surely raised the bar on the gore.

SPOILER ALERT
A Season 2 is probable, considering the gold bars are sitting in Hong Cha Young's shed. They could bring back Jang Han Seo, the good brother. I do not think that they acknowledged that he had died. He could be lying in a coma in a hospital, and reawaken in Season 2. The gold has to be redistributed among the Geumga Plaza residents and the lawyers. It can't sit in Cha Young's shed forever. They could build a better Geumga Plaza/residence/retailer/office building, and Han Seo could be the CEO. Wishful thinking!
