Slow burn plot.

ok we're just an episode away from the final so here goes -

long story short, this is a slow burn drama. there isn't any strong passion romance if that's what you're looking for. the plot and action builds up slowly, and (really) systematically toward the eventual finale that we're seeing or expecting for. i hesitated if i should write a review for this show because i can't call it a LIKE, but i wouldn't say i dislike it either. there're loopholes in the plot for sure, considering how it's a battle between the black (drug syndicate) and the white (cops + undercover), and how the ML and FL seem to always have everything under control (the drug dealers can't be that oblivious, are they?) but i supposed it is truly a show where you would keep on watching just as the episodes keep running.

as we would already guess, the ML and FL are undercover for the police force and they used to be lovers, except that the ML was kept in the dark throughout — at least up until the last few episodes — because he thought she had died in an explosive incident caused by him in the past (wow such a turn it up in the plot you'll only find in c-dramas honestly). in a twist of fate, the FL went through surgery and became an undercover too, hiding the truth from everyone, including the ML and her brother, who's another cop.

just as long as you sit tight and get through the first few episodes, you're pretty much set for the remaining of the show. i can't deny that the FL's entrance in the show, before we actually figure out her undercover identity, is slightly annoying. she leeches onto the ML and with her princess attitude, it was pretty much a no for me. but it all went well once we put the pieces together and made sense of her character. their pairing worked out decently (of course, she knew him since forever!) and it was a comfortable watch. at this point, i've also got to give kudos for the relationship between the ML and SML (mu qing and li ruosheng), this brotherhood would be such a painful one to watch once the SML faces the ML's betrayal (i'm guessing it's in the last episode).

all in all, this drama focused a lot on character build up which is much appreciated for a theme like this. i'm quite glad it didn't jump into all that c-drama romance. it's definitely a slow burn so if you're looking for plenty of action and quick progression, this probably wouldn't be for you. but otherwise, this should be a decent one to past some time, and for a slow watch.

god tier, a literal masterpiece

I don’t even know where to start in writing this review, I don’t know if I could ever put into words how much this show means to me, there is no rating that could ever feel like enough. I have never had a show affect me this much, it surpasses every bl I’ve watched. I don’t think I will ever love a show more than I do this one. The acting, the visuals, the music, everything was just completely perfect. The cinematography?? Stunning. The actors that were casted were absolutely spot on for their role. We are so lucky to have bible & build play Vegaspete, Mile & Apo as kinnporsche and Jeff & Barcode for Kimchay, the side characters also did an incredible job. Tankhun as a comedic relief character was such a breath of fresh air. The chemistry between all of the main characters was so prominent both on and off screen. I will never get over the fact that we could see the cast members being each others comfort and safe zones. Barcode having to touch/be close to Jeff because he was so nervous was adorable, Jeff always tried to make him feel comfortable and always smiled when he was around. Mile and Apo’s friendship is so genuine and real, the fact that Apo called Mile to make sure he was doing okay after their scenes, bringing him medicine when he had covid PLSSS I love them so much. Bible & Build make me so happy, the hug they shared in the ep 14 behind the scenes, the fact that they’re always smiling around each other. I could feel the passion, desire and tension between Kinn and Porsche and Vegas and Pete. Build absolutely DELIVERED, it’s extremely hard for me to pick a favourite character but I think if I had to I would lean toward Pete, his crying was so convincing, I could feel his pain. The way he was screaming for Vegas will forever haunt me, his FACE when it went from smiling to absolute fear, literally give this man an award. The fact that this was Bible and Mile’s acting debut? Insane. The way Apo can portray his emotions just by his eyes? Breathtaking. Kim’s action scene in the final episode!?!?! UNREAL. Kinnporsche completely took over my life, from re-watching every episode multiple times, constantly going on my phone to look at posts & videos to making edits to reading the novel, to impatiently waiting for the next episode to air (which was torture because I was dying to see what happened next) I’m SO thankful I got to experience this show while it was airing, getting to live tweet with other fans, watching the cast going live on instagram & twitter, getting to watch the behind the scenes after every episode and their live reaction to the finale. Bible & Apo’s reactions to all of the Vegaspete scenes, Apo & Jeff crying!! These characters will forever hold a special place in my heart, I’m so proud of every single one of them. One of the best wuxia since  Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms.

Really good story, good acting, good soundtrack... one of the best wuxia movie. I like xu kai since The Legend, but in this movie, his acting has improve to another level. And plus super handsome.. the FL also has a very good acting. They portrait a perfect shangguan/ baijue, houche/qingmu. All the suporting actor/actress also did a very good job. The saddest characters in this movie are houche and qingmu. Especially seeing the ending of houche. Till the end she doesnt know the reason why baijue was very cruel to her and did get to say goodbye to qingmu. But everyone got their happy ending except tianqi. So sad that yuemi did not come back. But overall worth to watch 2nd time

A thriller I never knew I needed!

Wow, just wow. This thriller was something!

The storyline was actually realistic, not some fairytale scenario where things magically work out just because but everything that happens has reason and emotions tied with it. When I say I'm ready to rewatch it NOW, I'm READY!

Acting - what a phenomenal group of actors. They all gave a STELLAR performance, but the CHILD ACTRESS - omg chills, right down to the last scene. I love that I saw some familiar faces in this movie like Gong Yoo, Choi Woo-Shik, Seok-Yong Jeong, and Jang Hyeok-Jin!

THE BEST ROMCOM with fun & healthy relationships!!

First of all, people are just hating on it for being basic and cliche. BUT that's the point of romcoms, we love these cliche and fluffy romance. “It's basic and predictable" yeah no shit, it's a freaking romcom not a thriller drama!! If you want plot twists, go watch thriller dramas. You can't expect a dynamic plot from a romcom. Are you people really bored that you have to hate on such a light drama? People be saying "there is no plot" but it clearly has a plot. Their love story is the main plot and it was a 10/10.

King the land might be boring for people who have been watching kdramas for a long time but it's pretty fun for beginners. My friends who rarely watch kdramas saw King the land and now they're obsessed. I swear everyone just hype it up while airing and hates it afterwards. Yes it might be too cliche or cheesy but what's wrong with that? Real romcom lovers will absolutely love this drama, if u dont then u hate fun romance. I recommend this drama to all the romcom lovers !! I had so much fun watching this drama and it was the best for me in 2023. It had no unnecessary breakups, big misunderstandings and they talk it out which really surprised me! I love it! I rewatched it so many times and still cant move on!

Don't listen to people who hate on this drama because they have no taste in romcom and dislike seeing healthy relationships. King the land is so light, fun, VERY romantic, healing, relaxing and I can chillax all the way thru! Moreover, the chemistry is INSANE!! Yoona and Junho had THE BEST chemistry everrr!! Every moment of them together was sooo cute, my feet were kicking, my face was all red!! Overall, King the land is just light and fun drama with insane chemistry, if you like to watch other stressful dramas go ahead be miserable on your own!! Thank you for reading <33

The most boring Mafia BL ever!!!

I get what they were trying to do here, BUT the lack of direction in the the story, mediocre acting, boring action scenes, lack of intensity, like I can go on. One thing I legit hated is that the continuation scenes from a previous one was all in a mess. Like there wasn't a right chronological way they edited this. It seemed no one cared and just added scenes together without some making sense.

I started super excited for this drama because the lack of mafia BL is legit sad. I had KinnPorche on the side to watch but waited. From episode 1 to 3 I always give dramas the chance since I know the slow pace, but the drama got me hooked till ep 6, after that lord. Like it seemed to me that the 2nd half was completely just put together and sometimes fast sometimes slow legit nothing to add to a story or not. Like heck were are talking about a mafia BL, how as a mafia boss Kamol act so dull and passive on sht that happens to just act like a boss with work, even Kim's part was legit typical arrogant damsel that acts up but in end does dumb things.

Yes I don't care for popularity of actors and fandom. For me the most important part of a drama in a BL is the CHEMISTRY between the character where it looks so natural, only BL dramas that gave this Bad Buddies & Tharntype.

Don't bother with this drama.

ELEGANT !!

This show revolves around the lives of 5 doctors who have been friends since their college days. It's a brilliant portrayal of the everyday of the workaholic middle class. The writers and production team managed to concoct up a story that is satirical yet realistic, comedic yet emotional and sad yet joyful. Not only are each and every character relatable and unique, they also manage to reel you in and make you invested in their story. The beautiful friendship that binds them as they balance between their personal lives and professional lives is the foundation that hooks you in since the very first episode. I highly recommend this show. This is one of those shows that comes once in a while leaving a deep impression upon you. The acting is flawless, the cinematography and direction are exemplary and the music, perfectly blended. This is a must watch.

Started off troubling but finished strong

As far as episodes 1 to 4 was concerned, Kiyoi appeared arrogant, narcissistic and unkind, while Hira was needlessly reverent. How could a healthy relationship possibly result from such a dynamic? I thought. But I was completely won over by the end as the final episodes offered revelations from Kiyoi’s perspective.

The beauty of Utsukushii Kare is in how it demonstrates the communication quirks in conservative Asian societies. Reading between the lines is required to grasp subtler expressions of love.

When Kiyoi uses the term “stalker”, he really means “thank you for coming to me”. When he says “disgusting”, albeit in harsher tones, it’s because he just doesn’t know how else to express what he’s feeling.

“How did I fall in love with someone as disgusting as you?” Taken out of context, his sentence might sound terribly unkind. But in the particular context where it was said, Kiyoi doesn’t actually think that Hira is to be abhorred, but instead, he wants to say, “how did I find someone as special as you?”
