if you hate yourself and need to waste your life span, this is a great watch

So if you love infuriating FLs that have a fierce personality but when it comes to the ML they lose any personality, shes your girl. If you love a pathetic wuss as an ML, with a phobia of crowds :0. omg he has trauma, shut up. and a bitch for a SFL who exists to cause all the conflict. this is the perfect cdrama.

A good romcom but 8 episodes should have been enough

A good romcom. The story is pretty much standard for most of the romcoms.

Two people, Shin Ha Ri and Kang Tae Moo went on a blind date to please their families. But Shin Ha Ri helped her best friend instead. But, her date had decided to marry her.

The story begins from the moment they met.

Watch it for a good laugh.

so pissed off.

the show had a decent plot and overall it’s good but it feels like a rage bit. the whole whole i’m just so pussed off to the point where honestly i don’t even want to watch the next episode because it’s just making me so angry. there’s no development besides the top floors being assholes. everytime i think it can be a bearable episode they keep pulling the same stunts that just make me angry. i’m not sure if ill be able to get myself to finish this because im just constantly pissed off.

The romance and music are great. PLot Holes. And characterizations greatly diminish the enjoyment.

The effervescence around this drama is excessive. If one can watch without a critical eye it is absolutely wonderful And I agree. If you are The type of k drama watcher, who likes cohesive plots and well developed characters. Then you may have issues with this drama. It may still be well worth watching for the emotional beats and the music. The acting is very good and the couple is amazingly cute. I do not regret watching this show but it was stressful at times.

This is my first review. I wanted to present overall a more balanced view. I rely in part on these ratings to decide whether to watch a show or not. If I relied on the ratings and reviews here I would have thought this is The absolutely Best drama ever and this is definitely not the case.

Same boring BL formula

I am tired of this old ass plot. Boy A likes boy B, Boy B doesn't like Boy A, Boy B comes to like Boy A, Boy B doesn't confess his feeling for some reason, Boy B can't hold his feelings anymore and confess, Boy A and Boy B date and then happily ever after. Yawn zzzzzzzz. Tired of this. At first I kinda liked it because the characters were straight forward of their feelings and didn't do the misunderstanding bs but then they prove me wrong in later episodes with cliques after cliques. Man JBL needs to adapt more interesting plot cause things have been repetitive.

An absolutely heartwarming piece of work

This is a flawless piece of work, and I have enjoyed watching every single second of this show. It has a well developed story with great actors doing justice to their roles. As a Soo Young fangirl, I was so happy to see her act out the role so beautifully.

The story is nice and does not have any never ending tropes or plot holes. Being a short drama, nothing is too stretched out and every minute feels necessary instead of fillers. You won't have to skip to watch a beautiful story between our two leads and the cute child! I also liked the wonderful role the old friend from school plays. Took me two seconds to recognise her though. :P

My only complaint is that because it was only 4 episodes, the last episode (specially the second half) felt quite rushed to me. It could've had 1-2 more episodes. I totally wouldn't mind seeing this adorable couple for another episode. The entire US and return happened so fast that you just don't process much while watching. None the less, a happy and beautiful end for our characters, so, I'm happy. :)

Amazing Youthful Entertainer - Clean Hit of 2024

I'm a big fan of time travel dramas; I watch time travel dramas most of the time." But after watching Some Day Or One Day," the time-travel rom-com caught me on the spot to explore these dramas. But I don't get enough dramas to freeze in those cute rom-coms, except for last year's "Twinkling Watermelon.". So I waited for this drama to breakout from the time-travel slump, as well as for the cast of Kim Hye Yoo, Byeon Woo Seok, and the trend of webtoon adaptations.

I watched all the episodes at once (I did not watch them when they were airing because I had exams), so I think I'm late to the party. The start is as good as I expected. The time travel aspect watch is another new element joined in the time travel mission. The synopsis tells the entire plot of the drama, so now it's up to the makers how they will keep the audience engaged with the plot, but it makes the drama watchable, like, Let's see how she will save him. Every episode is purely made as a youthful entertainer, especially the chemistry of the main leads, Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok, which makes the drama even more beautiful. The scene settings are impressive, and the use of the element "If the time traveler talks about the future or about the time travel, then the time will stop and no one in the past could hear anything from the time traveler '' made the plot engaging, but it will disappear suddenly from the drama. No love triangle; it has one but is not a complete one. The construction of a drama without a love triangle in a teenage love story is really something that we could appreciate from the from the director and writer because they focused on one story progression rather than love triangle points. With that unnecessary love triangle, sometimes the story progression is ruined. Emotional character development is pretty good. Kim Hye Yoon from funny lovable to emotional caring. Byeon Woo Seok a student with dreams to protective lovable. Song Geon Hee is a free-bird student and an understanding friend. The comedy plot is really a good entertainment aspect, and the execution of the comedy is also reasonable according to the story; there are no unnecessary side tracks, especially the comedy scenes of Kim Won Hae, Jung Young Joo, Seo Hye Won, and Song Ji, which will make the drama more enjoyable.

My only disappointment :-

This is not a thriller—time-travel—but they attempted a plot twist in the thriller zone by using a mysterious man (a killer), but the execution of that point is weak for me. If they try to give it some valuable scope and make it interesting, then the output is even better than this. Put the villain character only in boundary to show his face and drive a van or car. The director and writer got the friendship element to create a friendly environment around the male lead, but the protection point of the main lead was overshadowed. I agree; drama had the friendship moments between the main lead and his friends, but that's not enough for me. Even though it was a short time, it was good (male-led friendship).

ACTORS :-

One of the biggest elements of this drama's success is the chemistry between the main leads and the short girl tall guy troop. It was a classic troop in Kdrama Land, and we are missing it. So in the correct time this drama dropped their weapon, short girl tall guy love, it quickly gained the attention of every kdrama lover (also plot). Their acting is simply charismatic. Kim Hye Yoon I've been watching her dramas since "Extraordinary You," and she explored different genres, from dark to lovable, in every character she did an extraordinary performance. And in this drama, she really made me cry and laugh again, but this time more. She gave life to the Im Sol character; her superb emotional acting and ability to make you cry in funny scenes also contributed to her character development. The first half is totally funny, and the second totally emotional—multit character portrayal in a single-layer character—which is what made her one of the best actors in the upcoming generation.
Byeon Woo Seok, although this is my first main work of him, did great as Ryu Seon Jae. He caught me on the spot with his acting and I am now going to check out all his works (movies and dramas). And the supporting characters of Seo Hye Won, veteran actor Kim Won Hae, Jung Young Joo, Song Ji Ho, and Song Geon Hee gave complete decent acting performances in their respective character roles. They will make us laugh. Feel pain and emotion. What I found interesting is that, except for veteran actors Kim Won Hee, Jung Young Joo, and Seo Hye Won, no other supporting actors had a known face. Yet, this drama was a big success with them.

Writing - Direction - Screenplay - Sound Track Departments :-

Since it's an adaptation, the writer Lee Shi Eun's splendid script works very well. Attractive dialogues, lovely lines between the main leads, and hilarious conversations between supporting characters shine in every scene. Director Yoon Jung Ho, this is what made me excited because his previous masterpiece "Flower of Evil" is one of my favorite dramas, so I'm really excited to watch his other work, which is a Rom-com. He did pretty well his job as director. Every scene is stunningly beautiful, and no wonder I got thriller vibes with the killer plot in this drama. The scene settings are absolutely amazing, and his bold move for casting with limited big supporting actors and Byeon Woo Seok, Kim Hye Yoon is really appreciated. The screenplay in this typical drama is a really important aspect, to give the detailed drama structure from going in time backwards and forwards. There is not a lot of scope for the screenplay in this drama, but it is pretty good when it comes. One of the strongest pieces is the melodramatic sound track; it was amazing and fresh from the start to the end.

I would like to recommend this drama to every kdrama fan.

Note :- I’d like to notify that the following thoughts and words in my review are purely my own and not intended as criticism of any actor or drama.

Thank you - @Shinnosuke_Lee

It was a great first episode but…

A promising cast, a good conceptual idea, even though it tends to be more and more trending lately in the whole asian cinematographic industry, and a very first interesting episode that makes you want to watch the rest.

And it quietly drowns…

On the first episode we get a fascinating filming approach mingling between narration from the (main?) character and 3rd person point of view added to a sort of videotape form.
On the storytelling aspect we get a very detailed first character to who, some people, can relate to. The story progresses to something we are now familiar with, choosing with playing a game to make money or not playing the game. If some didn’t like the idea saying it was copy-past from Squid game… well most ideas and stories are recycled anyway so this is not a problem to me.
Then, still on the first episode, we now understand that it is different from games we saw before. No need to spoil more.
To sum up, well that seems like a good start.

There are 8 floors, 8 characters and 8 episodes, I was scared they would make 1 episode = 1 character development. Because it has been done before and never proved to be a good idea. And when continuing the series I felt “oh good, they didn’t do it”. And I was “so,
is our first introduced character, our main character ?” However I finally saw that there actually was no more character development whatsoever. We lack deepness in characterization and we don’t see anything interesting to our first character’s development.

Then the story itself lacks in a lot of ways. Besides characterization, we don’t always understand motivations or actions or reactions, we could think they are dumb but the story clearly show they are not. The vilain character is one of the most fascinating but still we wish we knew more of her background and how they ended her case was not convincing at all.
And there is this mystery about the real vilain, the creator behind all this, it is not necessarily needed to know who it is and why it does this since the revelation, in a lot of others productions (squid game, 19th floor, sort of alice in borderlands), has always been very disappointing, but they deliberately add this “spectator” kind of thing. And because of this singularity, which tends to be emphasized, we actually need to know who’s the spectator ? Or creator ? The movie says there is none, that is not convincing again.

Some good aspects of the series is the entertainment to some lengths. Last episode was clearly not that entertaining. Some really good acting spotted here and there and actors in roles we weren’t expecting. But at the end, it is still not enough to save the show and is kind of disappointing.

It is said to be a webseries, unfortunately my review doesn’t compares the series with the original as I have not seen it, tho maybe people who had seen it, have a better opinion on the series.

Loved it!

I absolutely loved it the first time I watched this. I couldn’t get enough of it. The chemistry between the actors was amazing. The production quality was top. Makeup and costume department did a great job.
the actors portrayed their characters very convincingly. The way Park Sung Hoon made us all hate his character to the point he got ( imo unreasonable) so much hate is just very impressive. I will definitely look out for his next project.
The way KSH can emote is just soo impressive, he cried so many times so convincingly and portrayed a character with so many facets (not always positive, cough cough his “gold digging phase) in such a believable and still likeable way.
I enjoyed the little comedy at the beginning of the show before it got very emotional. It is the only show that made me cry this hard. The ending was satisfying and bittersweet. Even though it was a very happy ending, it had me crying. I did like the long happy ending, not just last 5 min of a show.

Now I’m on my third time re-watching it and I found some flaws worth mentioning:
Overall pacing was good, but not perfect (my sister found it a little slow)
The lack of motivation of the main villain was a disappointing plot point, all this just in the name of greed is a little questionable.
The acting of the crazy aunt is a little over the top.

only stayed for byeon wooseok

gonna be honest, i did not feed into the hype that this kdrama had. just from the clips i saw online, it didn’t look all that interesting to me. just your run of the mill cheesy drama. and i was right.

it was funny for sure and if not for byeon wooseok i never wouldve watched this. my main issue is with im sol’s character. she lacks depth and personality throughout the whole series, which is a fault many many kdramas are guilty of. they dedicate so much character development and realness to the male lead that the female lead is always overshadowed and unliked. her character was unnecessarily clueless, slow and overall, just stupid. literally in any scenario this girl was in, she chose to make the stupidest decision that negatively affects the people around her. made no sense and just left me resenting her character. also this immature/childish “personality” that theyre always giving to the female lead- get over it already. this 30 year old woman jumping around like a preschooler? really?

"This is also riding"

What do I have to say more? Sweet and perfect. I loved enery second of it and I've even rewatched it a lot of times because it has some of the cutest moments. It is the perfect balance of spicy and cute. It of course has some of the cliche moments of bl dramas but this just makes it even better. I love the actors and they are so pretty together even off screen
Wish them loooooooots love love and happiness and I cannot wait for their new series that are about to come out veeeeey soon🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Good potential but…

First of all, I enjoyed this drama, but it it had many flaws.
I don’t understand the amount of hate this show got. Why an actress has to apologize for her characters actions, I will never understand. That is acting. They are not the same as the character. Apart from that, I didn’t see a need for even the character to apologize. It may be common in China to obey your parents, but I personally felt that the parents’ requests went too far. They were just as willing to lose her because of their pride, as they were accusing her of being willing to lose her family. If you love your child, you would want them to be happy. I saw online that she was called rebellious and willful, but in my opinion, she was very cowardly. She learned to stand up for herself only towards the end of the drama.

Things I enjoyed:
Overall storyline was good.
Leads acting, started rocky, but improved a lot
Made an effort with the firefighting scenes
I liked the depiction of brotherhood in the firefighting house.
Character development was good with both main characters. Female lead gained a backbone towards the end and male lead became less prideful.
Chemistry between the main characters was OK

Things I disliked:
Waaay too long, could’ve been 20 episodes shorter, I got bored many times
Acting of main male character could’ve been better (although I don’t understand the massive hate, it wasn’t that bad)
The medical scenes were a disaster, they didn’t even try to be medically accurate. In an emergency situation, as a doctor you just don’t stand around stating the obvious.
May be a cultural difference, but as I said before I couldn’t understand the female leads family. They expected a slave instead of a daughter. Why would you be so willing to lose your daughter, just to control her?
The brothers storyline felt weird to me

Enjoyable but acting is lacking

I did enjoy this drama. I like the storyline and overall pacing. I didn’t get bored in between, which often happens with cdramas because they are so long. I’m not interested in gaming, but the drama managed to keep me engaged during those parts.
I was disappointed with the acting. Both female and male leads were very stony faced and had an overall lack of emotions. The show was dubbed, which already annoys me, so when the facial expressions do not convey emotions that are not possible to convey with ones voice, the acting looks flat. I also didn’t feel the passion between the main leads and didn’t believe they were really in love. it feels more like young first love than anything serious.
Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it for what it was. My expectations were not very high, so I wasn’t overly disappointed. It managed to keep my attention which is a great plus. Even though sometimes it was overly sweet, I still felt giddy at times.

Excellent DRAMA!!

This drama is excellent. It has a strong cast such as Yang Mi and Gong Jun, with Wei Zhe Ming and Zhang Linghe appearing later on. The costumes and props are also very beautiful. The storyline is also easy to follow and some scenes are so sweet omg! I also love the comedy, especially the part when Tushan Yaya roasted Aolai Sanshao so badly, not knowing that he was the one she idolised all the while. Can’t wait for new episodes to be available on iQIYI Singapore!
