Despite being exceptional at his profession, South Korean prosecutor Hwang Shi Mok is frequently plagued by the side effects of having an abnormally developed brain—including the loss of empathy, lack of social skills and sensitivity to certain frequencies of sound. While investigating a case, he discovers that his person-of-interest has been murdered. His lack of communication with the corresponding police unit forces him to be stopped by police lieutenant Han Yeo Jin, who later assists him in arresting the lone evading suspect, who makes a not guilty plea. Despite being convicted with evidence, Shi Mok is left uncertain about it and passes his verdict to the deputy chief Lee Chang Joon as a robbery involving a third party instead of murder. Meanwhile, Yeo Jin tries to comfort the victim's family.

Fabulous Start

This was definitely a great pilot. I was enraptured nearly the whole time, and I'm loving the cast so far. This is my first time seeing Bae Doo Na in anything, but I can already say I like her a lot. I can definitely see her character becoming a favorite of mine. Her introduction was good and I really like that the character isn't feeding off of too many common lady-detective stereotypes. Jo Seung Woo is definitely pulling off the whole emotionless thing very well. As a stage actor myself, I know how hard it can be to turn off your facial expressions, so I can confidently say he's doing a great job so far. I can already say I don't like the villain (or at least, who I assume will be the villain, the Deputy Prosecutor). He's a bit bland; there's nothing about him that makes him unique, yet. I'll give him some more time before I pass my final judgement, but I'm not enthralled by him quite yet. I am VERY pleased to see Lee Joon Hyuk in a morally-grey (maybe even villainous) role. It'll be a nice break from the nice-guy roles I've seen him in before. I am very excited to see how his character progresses because I like the actor so much.Music is good, sets look nice, filming is solid. All the technical aspects of the show look good. The color palette is suitably depressing. Here's to the rest of the series being good!
