Had to call it quits

I'll keep this sort of short and simple:

1. The concept of the love alarm makes zero sense unless people are entering their info and crushes in the database to begin with. What the hell is with the linking their heart thing?? There was potential but the writing was lame.

2. This just romanticizes stalking. Both Hye Yeong and Sun Oh are actually creeps.

3. Sun Oh is a terrible friend but Hye Yeong is annoyingly passive.

4. It made no sense that 3 guys were after Jo Jo (including her original bf). There was nothing that stood out about her character. There was no chemistry between any of them either. Additionally, Hye Yeong and Sun Oh didn't know anything about her for them to be into her like that. Especially Sun Oh, who seemed like he just wanted to get her before his friend could. They just followed her around and stared at her from afar like weirdos.

5. The characters are all unlikeable, unrelatable, and boring.

I decided to call it quits after a few episodes. I don't care about any of these people or the story for that matter. Since I didn't watch all of it, you don't have to take my review seriously. It could get better but these were my thoughts from the beginning. The foundation wasn't strong enough for me to continue.

it was ok

it wasnt good but not that bad. it was ok. i liked the highschool edpisodes quite a lot and i liked sun oh very much. hyeyeong and jojo didnt fit together in my opinion. he was always in the shadows admiring her but sun oh was straight forward. he was very blunt with his feelings and he knew what he wanted from the start. i wish his feelings for jojo were a bit more explored though. but he was a very sweet and good boyfriend, i loved how he protected jojo and stood with her and only her even though literally every girl was in love with him. But he shouldnt have kissed jojo back then in that alley because she had a boyfriend. But i have to say, jojos friends were absolute bitches.

IT COULD'VE BEEN BETTER

I started the series because I had seen edits. It seemed interesting, which did not happen at all. Things were happening too fast, time was passing way too fast. Indeed, they looked good, I even felt butterflies when I saw the scenes with them. But it was not what we expected. Throughout the series, you only had the question "why?" printed in the mind. I don't understand why they had to break up, and what I don't understand anymore is why was this the ending? It has no logic. Yes, the series kept you on your toes, but the ending had to be logical. There are movies that leave you in suspense and a little confused, but not at this level. It didn't seem like a series finale at all, more like an episode finale. From my point of view, it was not the best series ever made.

Pleasant attempt at a good story

This show literally took fantasy to another level, despite having all real persons and not being an anime. The concept is an interesting one, where the world they live in has an amazing ability via a phone that isn't connected to a persons vitals, but I guess the technology is just that advance.

This show managed to take so many persons and make them practically unlikable or so sad that you don't even feel like they deserve the pity because they setup a small wooden chair in their own personal pity party. Filled with the stupidest decisions in the world and reasonings that are never shared sometimes... Sometimes it is best to tell people which bridge to jump off, because they are rubbish as a person. Also believe it or not, if you sit by and watch people treat others like rubbish and you don't let them know that they need to be better... You aren't much better. A lot of these characters could have just made sense out of the nonsense, but they were written to not.

The main male leads actually have a lot of chemistry and their bromance was solid, it was actually one of the highlights for me, because having great friends is always a plus, they jut kinda need to make one of them less self-loathing. Your friend values you to the max, just accept it, allow them to be unconditionally kind to you and tell him the truth.

The romance was a nice one, they built on it little by little, which gave it a solid real life feal, the chemistry between them was also pretty good. The back stories shown in flashbacks were very good for the character development as well. The reality of the different status was also well done but the pride of all involved should have been limited.

Visual Treat - Slow Romance - One time Watch

"Love Alarm," the popular Korean drama, takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster with its intriguing storyline and thought-provoking exploration of the impact of technology on human relationships. Combining romance, drama, and a touch of science fiction, this series captivates audiences from the very first episode.

The premise of "Love Alarm" revolves around a fictional smartphone application that notifies users if someone within a 10-meter radius has romantic feelings for them. This simple yet powerful concept sets the stage for a narrative that delves deep into the complexities of love, human emotions, and the consequences of living in a hyper-connected world.

One of the standout aspects of "Love Alarm" is its well-developed characters. Kim Jo-jo, played by the talented Kim So-hyun, is the central figure around whom the story revolves. Her relatable struggles and the emotional journey she embarks upon are beautifully portrayed, making her a character that viewers easily connect with and root for.

The drama also introduces a love triangle, with Hwang Sun-oh (Song Kang) and Lee Hye-young (Jung Ga-ram) vying for Jo-jo's attention. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, and their performances bring the complex dynamics of love, friendship, and jealousy to life. The intricate relationships between the characters evolve over time, keeping viewers engaged and invested in their fates.

Another commendable aspect of the series is its skillful portrayal of the impact of technology on society. "Love Alarm" tackles pertinent themes such as the loss of genuine human connection in the digital age, the dangers of relying on algorithms to navigate relationships, and the moral and ethical implications of a technology that controls love and emotions. These themes provide ample food for thought and elevate the show beyond a mere love story.

Visually, "Love Alarm" is a treat to watch. The vibrant cinematography and aesthetically pleasing scenes contribute to the overall appeal of the drama. The production values are high, and the attention to detail in capturing the essence of modern Seoul adds to the immersive experience.

While "Love Alarm" successfully weaves an intricate web of emotions and technology, it does have a few minor shortcomings. Some viewers might find certain plot developments predictable or wish for a more conclusive ending. Additionally, a few supporting characters could have been further explored to enhance the overall narrative.

In conclusion, "Love Alarm" is a compelling Korean drama that seamlessly blends romance, drama, and science fiction. It keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, pondering the complexities of love and the consequences of technology in today's society. With its well-rounded characters, engaging storyline, and stunning visuals, this series is a must-watch for fans of the genre. Be prepared to experience a whirlwind of emotions as you embark on this captivating journey through love and alarm.

love alarm could be helpful.

This is one of the first kdramas that i watched. I really liked the storyline from it. It has some fantasies to it, but also in some kind of realistic way too. Romance is really point out, for people who loves that kind of genre. The acting is amazing in every way, not to mention how beautiful actors are too. The only reason for me because I rated 8/10 is because I was really hoping for season 3 and also I wanted to see more sparks between characters. In conclusion, I think it's worth watching it. <3

#LoveAlarm Review:

1) It's been a long while. LOL Well, talk about puppy love that is mixed with a semi-mature content, this KD from Netflix is a 7/10 for me.
2) 순오 is too immature for his role. And 조조야 is basically a naive girl. It's actually good 군대 it needs to be improved on its storyline. Like I need some stories about Jojoya's bestfriend and her ex-boyfriend. Idk It's kinda off being an immature type of a drama.
3) I only watched this because of 솧욘시. 🥺💕

good drama

Since this is season 1 it’s actually good but the main character is so selfish and it makes me so mad, she didn’t value her boyfriend nor his love which made me hate her sm. I enjoyed the first few episodes since the main couple leads had good chemistry also note that in season 1 the main leads are kim so hyun, song Kang and jung ga ram. The drama was a bit touching ngl so I did enjoy my time watching it. It is recommended to watch it if you enjoy school romance dramas but don’t watch if you’re the type that can’t stand unfairness, selfishness and basically some bad personality traits in characters.

Love Alarm - worth watching?

I did not see this drama in 2019. When I noticed it on Netflix in April 2021 and that it had only 8 episodes, that made me motivated enough because it means I could probably watch the whole thing in 2 days. Not to mention that I have this great interest in teenage love dramas. I’ve already seen Kim So Hyun in other dramas, including River Where The Moon Rises, which was still ongoing. I also saw Song Kang in Navillera, also still ongoing. So I thought, this drama must be a good one since I like both of their acting.

I read both good and bad reviews about this drama, but never mind, I’ll just watch it anyway. So in the first episode we are introduced to this cool phone application called Love Alarm, where you get notified if someone within a 10-meter radius likes you. Then we get to know three students, Kim Jojo, Hwang Sun-Oh and Lee Hye-Yeong who goes to the same school, and as you could probably guess, would get caught in a love triangle.

There were so many questions in my mind about the three of them. Jojo seems to have gone through a traumatic childhood, which I never understood exactly, until I got the answer in episode 6 of Season 2. Hye-Yeong as we know is childhood buddy of Sun-Oh, the son of a wealthy politician and beautiful actress. We then understand that Sun-Oh has a dysfunctional family, with self-centered parents who can only care about their public image.

Then we get to know that Hye Yeong’s mother works in their mansion, more like a head housekeeper, and so basically they live in the same house, but different quarters, but not much do we know about the family background (until Season 2)

I have seen some Song Kang’s temper tantrums as Chae-rok in Navillera, where he still remains to be a good boy, but the character Sun-oh in this drama was so unbearable to me. Sun-Oh was a rich, good-looking guy but he was also arrogant, conceited and somewhat bossy, as if the world revolves around him. He was annoyed that Hey-Yeong did not pick him up at the airport when he returned from the US. He also didn’t approve Hye-Yeong working part-time in a restaurant, because he wants Hye-Yeong to spend more time with him.

What I found also really annoying was he even stalked and kissed Jojo, whom he barely knew, and he already knew that she was Hye-Yeong's object of affection. How could you do this to your very best friend? But then again, I thought, this is a teenage romance drama. You do all sorts of stupid stuff when you were young and immature, and this was part of growing up. So I thought this would be the core of the story, a love triangle among Jojo, Sun-Oh and Hye-Yeong.

The script was a bit disappointing though, and sometimes confusing. We keep on seeing the same flashbacks of Jojo’s childhood, but as each episode continues, we still don’t get a grip on what was going on. Jojo’s cousin, Gul-mi (another annoying character) kept on mentioning about what happened in Jeju with her parents, and even threatened to tell people about it. Still we never understood what happened, and surprisingly, I was not that curious.

Anyway, Love Alarm showed the usual ingredients for teenage drama: love triangles, unrequited love, school bullying, family matters, and the ups and downs of friendship. This was illustrated using the usual K-drama formula, but there were more serious issues on the dark side which were touched briefly, such as school bullying, homosexuality (or more likely gay bullying), suicide (and mass suicide), murder and data privacy.

So how would I rate this drama? I think the acting was superb, but the script needed more substance. I don’t even know what it is, but it seemed like it could be done better. I must say I do like the soundtrack songs (some were in English) and might google to find them after this.

No

Just No.

What is this? Was it written by amateurs or were the actors that bad? I'm definitely sure the concept of this drama is unique and promising.
What the...hell. It is one of those dramas that you have to immediately drop before any more precious moments of your life are lost watching this boring masterclass of a drama.
Why does it feel like they didn't match the theme with the directing?
For the first 40 minutes of the show that I managed to watch, I felt I was watching a "movie" because of the cinematography. Extremely slow paced and totally no harmony between the "love alarm" and the totality of the shots with the music.
And most importantly...the characters. God please make them actual characters....they totally feel shallow and artificial.

Just what were they trying to do here? Were the screen-writers, directors or producers too ambitious? Was it the "realistic" shallow acting? Was it the slow paced direction?

I don't know, and defining it won't change the fact that this drama exists. I wish rookie directors and writers will look at the first episode of this drama, as a guide on "How to NOT make Good Dramas". At least it will serve a purpose....

This One Was ...... Different

This isn't your typical drama.

As I watched this, I wondered how much of the Webtoon story the Producers and Writers retain for the Drama because the story has some definite problematic issues.

Song Kang probably had a hard time portraying this character and I do not for one bit fault his acting. Sun-oh was ...different, pushy in a way that can be a turn-off. Buuuuut, I didn't hate him, and that's probably why this drama gets an Overall 8 for me. I was still rooting for their relationship with Kim Jojo. I thought Jojo did not have a legit reason for the breakup...I mean for the level of heartbreak involved, hers was too flimsy a reason. Otherwise, this drama drew me in completely. I am glad I waited for both Season 1 and 2 to air before starting because I do not know how I could have endured the wait.
