If you enjoy the genre, watch it

Some people don’t like cheesy dramas, but this drama in particular is very cheesy. If you don’t like it, then there’s no reason to watch it. If it’s too cringe or cliché, watch something else.

The whole premise of this drama is from this cliché drama. So if you choose to watch True Beauty knowing that it will be a ‘cringy rom-com’ and get mad for it being ‘too cringy’, that is foolish.

If you like cheesy rom-coms like me, then the rating (of 9) applies. I personally like Weightlifting Fairy, Strong Woman, because l enjoy the genre and cute moments. There’s no point in giving this drama a bad review for its cringiness if you can just spend your time somewhere else.

This is a good light drama. It’s not deep. It’s a good cliché drama to watch on the side of something more exciting (like maybe fantasy or apocalyptic). It’s worth watching.

The directors and writers did a fabulous job considering how little they have from the Webtoon. It was fun to see what they could come up with. They were very creative.

Overall, there are some dramas that are better, of course, but just because they are better doesn’t mean that this drama is worse. (I sound like a broken record, but I just wanted to emphasize this.)

I also loved the cameos of Extra-ordinary You in this drama. They are fun Easter eggs because both are set in Manhwas.

If you want a fun, bubbly, cliché, and cringe rom-com to watch, this is definitely one to invest your time in.

Don’t expect something like Penthouse of Sweet Home from it. That’s barbaric. It’s a good drama for its genre.

Came for the webtoon, stayed for the drama

It was different from what I was expecting. Rather than a complete adaption from the webtoon, the drama went a very different way. I thought it'd end up with a more open ending, which could possibly lead to a season 2, but it doesn't look like we'll get one, based on the ending of the series.
From the beginning, it seems that Suho is destined to end up with Jugyeong. As a hardcore Seojun fan, I'll admit, the story did disappoint me. I truly wish he was at least given a fighting chance to get with Jugyeong, rather than being thrown a bone on the second to last episode. I'm happy he ended up happy though, at the end of the series, he seems to be over Jugyeong or at least close to it, which is nice. I started reading the webtoon a long time ago, but the way Jugyeong treats Seojun is nothing like I remember. From what I remember, it was very much a 2 sided friendship, but in the drama, it feels like Seojun's doing so much for her, while she's not really doing anything in exchange, but I guess that could be because it's unrequited love. I'm gonna be honest here, despite preferring Seojun in the webtoon, I really enjoyed Suho and Jugyeong's relationship in the drama. Sure, it was cheesy at times and kinda cliché, but I liked it personally. I loved the Heegyeong story line. Seeing her and her jamong was beautiful, it really added a lot of comedy relief and cuteness.
I could be wrong (because I haven't watched a drama in a year or two, prior to this) but I don't think I've seen any of the main cast act before, but I'm so glad to have seen it. I thought the acting was really nice, I'm really tempted to follow the actors other endeavors, especially Hwang In Yeop, who's gonna be in Annarasumanara (very good manhwa btw, I'm excited to see how he's gonna play Il Deung).
The music in this drama is honestly great, considering the webtoon plot has the same musical backstory for the boys, it was up to par. My girl Yuju did so well on 'I'm in the mood for dancing', that song was in my head for like a week I SWEAR. Honestly I feel like it could've been used a bit more, but still the music was really good. I'm not gonna lie, I did in fact shed a tear when Seojun was singing the trios song.
Would I watch this again? Definitely, but probably not for a good year or two AT LEAST. As much as I enjoyed the show, I really do think they did my boy Seojun dirty, but at least everyone's happy. This drama's gotten me re-interested in dramas, so I wanna find new stuff rather than dwell on shows I've already watched.

Totally different from webtoon which made it quite boring to watch in the end.

the main plot is not bad , i loved the main plot of the FL wearing makeup to get away from bullies and she gets involved with two guys who likes her for her personality more than looks. But i feel like the whole drama was carried by our second lead and all supporting cast. I watched the last ep because of them as i wanna know what happens to them. I loved jukyung and her friendship and family moments. And i loved Seojun, he really loved our FL but i feel like they used him till the end to keep viewers curious IN DRAMA i mean cause in WEBTOON they really used seojun in a good way not like in drama. I almost cried in 16th ep ngl.

Kinda spoilers!
I quite hated that they didn't follow the webtoon story , jukyung x suho dating should not have happened early just like in webtoon cause it became boring. Basically i love the story of webtoon more than drama. they could have made a webtoon route where soojin gets jealous because suho likes jukyung (not dating) and she uploads her no makeup face (which does happen in drama) . And suho before leaving to US tells jukyung he likes her like in webtoon . And after jukyung x seojun's breakup suho helps her and they get back together . This way the drama would be more like webtoon way . They really did use seojun and gave almost all his scenes in webtoon to suho
If seojun as a character was not there in drama , i would have liked suho. Suho is a good boyfriend but in drama his character gets a bit annoying ngl. I feel like his character in webtoon is much better .
Basically i watched this show for Cha Eun Woo and ended up falling in love with Hwang In Hyeop .
I loved that seojun became an idol in the end but the way he cried after being heartbroken is one of the saddest moment in a kdrama , i cried too.
I loved Moon Ka Young's acting she really got into the character of jukyung . And i loved the side love stories of her family members and friends .
And i loved kang soojin , i know she did the wrong choice of choosing love over friendship but she does care for jukyung as we see in ep 16 , i can't make myself hate her even though she did wrong things. Even the actress who played the role is very nice.
I gave this drama a 8.5 cause of the second lead and supporting characters , and i how they depicted school bullying , when her mom finds out about it and all.
OST- i loved some and some makes me cry everytime i hear it especially chani (sf9) starlight and fall in you .
Also i loved the friendship moments between suho and seojun and how they got back together .

THIS IS NOT THE WEBTOON WHY YOU CALL IT REMAKE?!!

if i didn't read the webtoon i would give this drama better rate it's cliche but fun, too cliche simply ugly girl who two boys love. but i read the webtoon more than a year ago and was so excited to that to come for life but was faced with another story they totally just get the names and that's it. no one said that they should follow it scene by scene but to totally change it take character scene to another and change the center of story form jugueong beauty problem to suho problems that was annoying.. so if you read the webtoon it's normal to be disappointed and maybe mad.

if you didn't read the webtoon its fun cliche normal romcom with all the cliche from childhood met to save her to jealous love triangle and naive girl who don't understand who love her and act like child.

i love Moon Gayeong acting in the start like jugyeong is fun like that but her voice become so annoying by the end. Eunwoo i don't feel him but suho is character that also don't have much to give, i hope he pick a character with more life on it and stop taking those cold look characters. the couple was ok but just okay not more.

HWANG INYEOP i have to say Seojun character help him a lot to shine it's fun character to start with but he did well delivering it.

osts wasn't strong to be remembered.
don't think i will watch that again i will just reread the webtoon to delete that from my memories.

Very childish.. Couldn't handle

I though the series was very childish I really could not go past the 3rd episode. I remember reading few chapters of the webtoon few years ago and I thought it was quite nice with an interesting story even though I did not finish the webtoon because I am not a webtoon reader anyways. So When I saw the title of the series, I was quite delighted because I would be able to watch this story and actually finish it. But it was quite the contrary! I could not handle the acting of the female lead and how childish and naïve she acted. I could not see her ugly in anyway even without the makeup, but the character was acting so stupid, it was really getting on my nerves. I thought the whole goddess looking was also too much, she is pretty enough but the whole series was full of exaggerations and clichés quite literally for teenagers. So for >30 person this was quite annoying. I would definitely not recommend it.

I love it!!

I really love this adaptation. I love the way they added a lot of scenes and characters, it's surprising and amazing. And the casts, their visual and chemistry are so great. I'm so excited to see the remaining episodes.
I'm looking forward to the kiss scene of Jugyeong and Suho. I really love them. Thank you Yaongyi and Director for bringing True Beauty in life. I love you.
And I hoping for Season 2, the webtoon is still ongoing. I'm so excited. And I want it on Netflix please.
Suho, Jugyeong, Seojun, Sujin and to all the casts, you're so great. Also I'm so excited to the OST of Eun Woo. If I'm going to rate it, I will give it 10000000000/10. It's worth to watch, it always gives me butterflies and happiness. I'm also relate to the character of Jugyeong, I also have a lot of pimples and I almost take a suicide because of my face. But this drama shows a lot of lessons.

Good Enough

Korean Drama "True Beauty" based on a webtoon and with a fresh and comical mood, gives a light school love story with not many surprises and a pretty basic plot.

First of all, the drama nailed the atmosphere, settings and costumes for this series. The comic book shop and the girl's room, especially, were created with such detail that they were nice to watch.

The bromance was pretty entertaining as well. The two male leads had chemistry and they provided a lot of funny moments. The start of the drama was interesting as well, with some intense moments and dramatic twists. There were some funny scenes in this drama as well, and the second couple were really cute!

However, the rest of it was average. The love triangle was weak, with the second lead being interesting in her towards the middle of the length, and even then the female lead didn't seem to notice him at all. The main love story, on the other hand, was okay, but it was predictable and that twist in the end was boring and aged.

The rest of the story was also predictable and boring towards the ending.

So, overall, six and a half out of ten.

Bullying awareness

Thank you for telling this story. Bullying is serious stuff and should always be taken seriously. I am so glad that the director and producer are telling this story so eloquently and I hope this story will help bring more awareness to everyone, especially to young adults. The female lead does a nice job portraying her point of view and the pain she suffers and endures, which will make her stronger. The two male leads sure make it fun to watch. They are both very pleasing to the eyes and ears. Can’t wait for the next episode. I hope there’s a happy ending...

This show is really fun if u r depressed or feeling sad just watch it and u will feel relived .. also the original comic is so nice to read but sometimes i feel like the female lead ( in the comic ) is really stupid in her decisions and she was so insecure about her life .. that was really annoying sometimes also she doesn’t know how love works , she was so ignorant about her real feelings.. but in general it was a good comic and fun to read :) , about the drama i feel so high of it and i hope it will come out as good as the comic .. i loved the lead actors too ♥️ Have a nice day :)

Usually I don't like webtoon and manhwa adaptations; the stories escalate in wierd directions and the main charachters are almost always over the top and wierd. BUT with this one here it's perfect. By the second episode I was hooked. It's true that it's filled with the usual cliche topics of school dramas but somehow that makes it good? The cast is really entertaining and there's a lot of stupidly hilarious moments. If you're looking to watch a deep and life changing drama, this isn't probably the one for you but if you're looking to enjoy the best of kdrama romantic cliches and have a good laugh and die a little over top tier visuals then I highly recommend it. It's light, funny and did I say the cast is really really pretty? ?

the first episode

i actually read the first 60 chapters of the webtoon a few months back when i found out about it being adapted into a drama. They changed a few things [like the first meeting of jugyeong and suho, jugyeongs family situation] but overall its been very true to the webtoon and i genuinely enjoyed the first ep. Moon ga-young plays jugyeongs character wonderfully, eun woo on the other hand doesn't really show a lot of expressions, i'm hoping thats him staying true to suhos character of being the quite introverted kid.
