Wholesome

Super cute so far! I'm liking the way the two guys are interacting, it's very wholesome. Even when Cai's annoyed, the writers steer clear of homophobic language.* I'm not into gaming at all, but it hasn't taken away from the enjoyment at all! I will say that the set-up of video calls, and having it take place during COVID as it's happening was a bit jarring for me. Nothing wrong done on the creators' parts there! Just not something I'm used to. Once I got used to it, it was actually somewhat refreshing to see the issue confronted head-on.So far so good! I'm excited to keep watching!*There's one debatable line but it's not inherently tied to sexuality imo and rather just the fact that someone - regardless of gender - is expressing romantic interest

What an intro, very short but effective

It is very inducing to watch with all its cringiness and rawrity. Acting is very superb. Gav and Cai are total opposite. But isn't it that opposite attracts? The straight forwardness of Gav may overwhelms Cai, but Cai totally is not also disliking it. Set in a pandemic, this series has a many topics to explore.

Very Promising

Virtual Dating usually doesn't resonate for me as a story, but in this episode, the two characters are very interesting. After episode, I was so excited on how the story will progress.

Pass or Play? I don't regret saying PLAY

A marvelous 10-minute episode that caught me by surprise and made me very enthusiastic about the Philippines series once again. Kokoy's Gavreel portrayed a young man who pursued Elijah's Cairo, a gamer who livestreams. It might seemed a cute and cheesy story from the start... but Cairo's defense wall hid a sad secret and Gavreel's enthusiasm buried a past which was heartbreaking.

Strong start, but the series does get even better.

Playing to his strengths, Kokoy de Santos is believable as Gavreel. A tougher nut to crack is Elijah Can'as as Cairo. Interesting premise, and nice way of weaving ccurrent realities to the story.

PLAY!!!

IMPORTANT POINTS:● Very Filipino● Shocking● Great StartBasically you only need to watch episode 1 at least once for you to get hooked with the story but let me say that a rewatch is needed for you to completely get used to the feel of the series, it's all too shocking especially with Gav's very forward nature but on the rewatch you would understand why it was made like that, it's the PINOY way of courting in short but nintheless international viewers would get used to it as well. People say it's cringy but I think that they are just mistaking it for secondhand embarrassment. All in all episode 1 is a great start.

Interesting and refreshing concept!

At first, i had doubts about watching this because I wasn't sure if I will like the online video calling concept. When it premiered, I was actually amazed. I realized how refreshing the concept is especially with what's happening around the world. Everyone is at home and most of the time on social media. I was just amazed how the story is being told through social media. Like how each character was given bit of introduction with their personalities via instagram stories like yeah, that's literally us. and then I love how opposite their characters are and how these actors are potraying the role well! What really sealed the deal for me is when the title of the episode was said at the end. that part hooked me!

First Philippine BL Series I watch

I am a Filipino but this is the first Philippine BL series that I ever watch. The first episode was cute and soft. The approach of both characters are not too strong, it was funny and fast. our Ukes personality is strict but cute which is commonly for an uke and our seme is fast, aggresive with style and mostly hot!

Gameboys (2020) Episode 1: Pass or Play?

The first episode was really good. The setting was very Filipino (Pinoy) (particularly in showcasing Pinoy gaming culture) yet I feel people around the world can still relate. Unlike most BL series from other countries that treat the main characters' romantic relationship as the be-all and end-all of the series, as if they occur in social isolation, in a vacuum, Gameboys is very much contextualised in the new normal brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The lead actors are the perfect actors for the series. They are both very skilled actors. And both are really good-looking. Elijah has this cute charm about him while Kokoy is very sexy. They have chemistry together. The dialogue for the first episode was very natural and realistic. Editing and graphics were also very good. Background music was ok. The first episode was missing an OST but they recently came out with a very heartwarming one, "Isang Laro" (A Game), performed by Nasser, from Gav's POV. I hope they release another one from Cai's POV. Overall, I really liked the first episode. I hope they maintain the high quality in the next episodes. I also hope the next episodes are longer. 10 minutes is just too short! Lol!

Off to a strong start!

This is a promising start for a good series. Despite being done through video chat, the main leads have good chemistry. The production company is very creative with using social media to tell a story, despite being limited by the lockdown in the Philippines. Looking forward to the other episodes.
