Top Tier!

As a person who has seen La Casa De Papel, I can honestly say this was one good remake. the story using North Korea defection as the reason of Berlin and the Professor's split was perfect, each character's story was greatly changed to match the Korean aesthetic but also kept the original feel of the original characters who's struggles we're almost the same, like in Nairobi's case. I also love the fact that we didn't lose the character Berlin and the introduction of his love interest Seoul, it made the show all the more appealing to me. if you want a good adrenaline, thought filled thriller I would recommend this one !

The show was fresh and interesting but I had so many questions while watching this like how are both camps so careless and lax for an alleged heist/robbery?

Also the fact that Netflix decided to cut each season of this show in half is also a reason to disappoint viewers by giving them an incomplete story!!

If not for the characters being so loveable and the actors remarkable I would have dropped this show. It was the RIO x TOKYO, and DENVER x MiSeon, and Professor x Inspector pairings that made me stuck wanting for more honestly. Netflix please give us the part 2 soon pls!!

The Spanish version is def better

I wanna start off by saying that if you watched the original Spanish version of money heist, you would immediately know what I'm talking about. The Korean version had way fewer details that made the mission complete or even make sense as a whole. Throughout the middle bulk of the season, nobody was even printing money since there were so many hostages and internal conflicts going on. Plus, I feel like this was really rushed in writing while being slow-paced in other aspects. The actual heist part was barely going on and they focused too much on the relationships between all the hostages and "criminals". Anyways, if someone only watched this version and not the Spanish one prior, I can see them thinking the series is groundbreaking. But the Korean version just didn't hold up to my expectations, especially since I thought Netflix was going to go all out on this series (I think they created this with the intention of it blowing up like squid game). Kinda disappointed tbh.

I was so tired after watching this

I haven't seen the original series and I watched this in two parts, 3 episodes each... and both times left me so, so drained. It has been a day since I finished it but I still remember how stressed, annoyed, and tired I was. Then again, I guess that can be a good sign because it shows that I got attached with the characters.

Honestly, I had no intention of watching but knowing my some of my favorite actors [Park Haesoo (Prison Playbook), Jeon Jongseo (Burning, The Call), Kim Jihoon (Flower of Evil), Lee Hyunwoo (Secretly Greatly, Master of Study)] are appearing bumped it higher in my never-ending list of shows to watch. And they delivered. If there is something I can't find fault, it's the acting. Pacing got too boring in the middle and there were so many scenes I wished they skipped. I think it would even work with 5 episodes.

This is a good show with great acting but not something I would rewatch.

What would you do for money?

I didnt watch the original so I won't be comparing the korean version against it.

Likes
1. The production is very high class, the tension is high, they were the 'bad guys' yet i want them to get out alive and spend their money.
2. I like how they are able to outsmart the cops each time, although they are 'cheating'. I like how the professor thinks of their plans. I'm curious if this is all just a ruse or test since the professor was approached to be part of the Nokor Sokor team before or he has a grudge and is getting his revenge.
3. I like Berlin, although he is slightly unhinged. Tokyo is so-so, Rio is immature, Denver is dumb. I also like Moscow. Wish Nairobi is more charismatic.
4. Love Misun, she is so pretty, i dont understand why she would like Yeong Min the d-bag, he is not enough handsome andd he's crazy. Will Misun join the team eventually?
5. I feel bad for Woojin, being played by the Professor. What happens when she finds out the truth?

Dislikes
No one stands out to me. Maybe because we don't see a lot of their background history.

Hope they release part 2 soon!

Rating: 8/10

Very good drama for thriller lovers

I've read some of the reviews and I actually don't understand why some people said they're not satisfied with it . To be honest , I didn't watch the original one but I really liked the korean remake so much .
My favorite genre of drama has been always thriller , action , science fiction etc ..
This kdrama has all of the genres in it : family (between Moscow and Denver) , a little romance (Rio and Tokyo) , action , drama , sadness ...
I don't know what to say but at least I know that this kdrama was so far from my eexpectations in a good way .
The intelligence of each one especially The professor . I loved how he made a plan and didn't forget about the little details .
I didn't finish this yet but I hope nothing bad happend in the end and I wish that this kdrama won't dissapoint me with the ending.
I advice you to at least try watching the first ep and I am sure you'll admire it .

WTF is this nonsense????

So they came up with a mythical story of North and South Korea being unified and they were going to rob the non-existent place that makes non-existent money???
Sorry, this is a piece of junk of a story. I had so many high hopes for it but just that concept alone is insulting to South Koreans and people that know that this will NEVER EVER happen. Are they trying to compare the two Koreas to the EU where there are multiple countries that agreed on a currency? What a ridiculous concept.
Ignore the positive reviews; they are 100% fake or work for the production.
Such a sad show and a waste of time watching this garbage.

mediocre; from someone who never saw the original

Never watched the original La Casa de Papel, so this review of of the show as purely a standalone.

DNF @ep2 , due to the sheer stupidity.

I'm not usually a stickler for details or even things making sense. I don't care if a plot has holes in it, as long as it's entertaining. Sadly, this had the former, but none of the latter.

Episode 1 started off strong, and then ep 2 just plummeted.

The biggest affront to me was the fact that The Professor, despite being s smart and intelligent and having a meticulous plan that supposedly accounts for every little detail, is getting all of his enemy intel from inviting the chief negotiator to his COFFEE SHOP.

....A coffee shop near the vicinity of the scene of the crime, in a surrounding city area that has been supposedly evacuated, where besides the negotiator and her few visits, there are rarely ANY OTHER CUSTOMERS.

in this empty coffee shop, the professor is reduced to eavesdropping on the negotiator when she makes calls about their next steps to outwitting the bank robbers, and he hovers stupidly right behind a sliding door, and gets caught the easiest way possible.

the himbo is also extremely stupid, his name's Denver. And the hacker, forgot his name already, is also just as easily outwitted.

You're constantly wondering if the professor has accounted for character flaws like these in his highly meticulous plan, right? When he tries to call and ask whats going on, they hang up on him, and he instead gets his intel from TEXTING THE NEGOTIATOR AND INVITING HER OVER FOR FOOD AT HIS STUPID CAFE

and then the supposed sexual tension between the negotiator and the professor was just terrible and make me deeply uncomfortable. why is this man asking when she had her last orgasm over negotiations? like i get it was supposed to be sexy and all but the actors really weren't pulling it off, and it was just so.....uncomfortable.

The only remotely interesting characters here are Berlin and Tokyo, and them alone isn't enough to keep me watching.

for a show that promises such an amazing heist, i expected top notch pacing, and intelligent plot lines. But every single time the camera pans away from the scenes at the bank, to tat blasted, stupid coffee shop, I want to shoot myself in the foot.

please, end my suffering. its so bad.

the word cringe, is cringe, and it makes me cringe just writing it, im stuck in an endless loop of cringe; but its the best word for those coffee shop scenes, and any scene in ep2, ever. CRINGE.

Intriguing & Suspenseful

I have not watched the original, but I found this absolutely engaging from start to finish. I’m shocked at the excessively mixed reviews. I haven’t seen reviews this mixed about a show I liked since…ever.

I’ve seen rave reviews of shows I’m lukewarm about (10 when I think it’s a 5), and poor reviews of shows I’ve loved (5 when I think it’s at least 8-10). But never have I seen a show that I was this impressed with range between a 2 and 10. That’s an abnormal range for something of this quality.

I can only guess that perhaps some of the undeserved poorest ratings stem from this not being the original, instead of judging this series on its own considerable merits. Based on the quality of this remake, I’m even more inclined to watch the original La Casa del Papel.

All that said, I had to come lend support through review. This is a high quality, suspenseful, thought-provoking, social commentary series that will have you wondering who you’re supposed to be rooting for, because life is actually just not that black and white.

I really appreciated the aspect that this whole fictional scenario, set in 2025, is not out of the realm of possibility between North and South Korea when money is the object and point. It’s completely feasible that the longing for reunification by the people might make them overlook what could be ulterior motives at the root.

Fair warning: There are a couple of s*x scenes, but they’re not anything to be overly offended by in my opinion, and they don’t last too long. Of course there is a lot of fighting and shooting, but nothing gory or over the top.

I do recommend this drama. I would watch it again and will. And I commend the entire cast for their very apparent hard work.

A battle of minds

this is a korean remake of the high rating Spanish series money heist, but the korean version put a big twist that will hock you up and you will never stop watching till the end (Well that happens to me hehe) anyways I really loved the korean version than the original one... they make the story more interesting with a battle of minds outplay vs outplayed it's like playing a chess game. the thing is it's hanging hahaha that really sucks! and we will wait for the next season a lot of question floating what will happen to them will they got out of the mint, what will happen to inspector and professor, about denver and miss yu and of course how will the professor avoid the eyes of that North korean captain who suspects him... that question will be answered in the next season... i really hope they won't mess up the ending if season 2 will be the last season...

i'm really in love with berlin

to be honest there is not much difference between the original and the korean version but particularly i liked the korean one more.

the cast is very good and I thought the choice of Park Hae-soo as Berlin was brilliant, the character suited him so well that it made me obsess over him for a week lmao.

I liked the issue of the Korean peninsula and I think that if done well it can be beneficial to the story.

It's important to keep in mind that this is a remake so don't expect major changes to the original plot.

Messy writing, even messier storyline

Review for Money Heist Korea: JEA (Part-1; Ep.1 to Ep.6)
Right from the first episode, this show feels rushed. The whole scene of the team coming together for the first time is very abrupt. It would have been nice to get some of their backstories at the beginning, to understand how the Professor found them. Although the show tried to elaborate on their stories in the later episodes, they were nothing more than a few flashbacks, thereby hindering the characters from reaching their full potential. More elaboration would have allowed viewers to bond better with the characters had their arcs been developed intricately. The dialogues were also vaguely written at the beginning which made it confusing to keep up with the plot.

Coming to the plot, it is a little convenient for various reasons and some scenes seem stretched out and unnecessary, whereas some other scenes that required more focus, that could have included other characters' monologues (not just Tokyo's) were just never given to us. For example, a scene about Moscow's strategy behind digging the escape route and how he would have mapped it all would have been a good addition. Overall, they could have dedicated a few more episodes to smoothen such discrepancies out. Additionally, the lack of female characters was something they could have made up for in this remake. But you can already tell this was written and directed by men since many scenes are depicted through the male gaze.

This show can be enjoyable for those who haven't seen the OG La Casa de Papel. I would recommend checking this out first before you see the original Spanish show. For Money Heist Korea, we have six more episodes to go, which should give them another chance to redeem and improve the storyline in some way. Let's see how that goes!
